    Great selection

Look no further this is where you go to get your glasses in Elk grove.Don't let the glasses on display fool you, they have a lot more in back. This place has quite a large selection. But more importantly the people are all friendly helpful and the speed that I got my two pairs of glasses back was amazingly fast!

My family have been going to Axis Eye for all our optometry needs for almost a decade! They are open 6 days a week with varying times which makes it convenient with my schedule and driving the kids around. They have a large selection of frames and lens choices. We appreciate that they find the best pricing for the insurance plan. They even give us information about rebates! Their staff are super friendly and makes the effort to get to know their clients. Axis Eye have improved their staffing and workflow to speed up waiting and exams. We typically have our appointments on-time and do not wait more than 10 minutes for drop-ins and pick ups. Scheduling is easy too! After an exam, they have accommodated us with temporary/sample contacts to make it through until the main order arrives. Try them out.

The store was clean, organized, and full of frame options -- so many cute choices it was honestly a little hard to decide. I went in thinking I might finally pick out a new pair of frames, but after trying a few on I realized my current ones still fit my face best, so I decided to just replace the lenses instead. Juan helped me during the visit and was fantastic. He walked me through the right lens options not only for my glasses but also for my daughter's, and made the whole process really easy. I was surprised how fast everything moved -- I was in and out in about 20 minutes. Helpful tip: if you find a frame you like, ask if it comes in other colors. Sometimes they have additional options like black or tortoiseshell tucked away that aren't on display. Now I'm just counting down the one to two weeks until the new lenses are ready. Final verdict: absolutely worth it.

I was told clearly that it wouldn't be a problem and that the documentation would be typed up and sent to my email. Based on that, I left expecting follow-through. Nearly two weeks went by with no communication. I had to call and follow up myself, only to be told that they actually cannot provide that documentation. This was frustrating, especially since I was initially told the opposite with confidence. The lack of follow-through and inconsistent information wasted my time and left me disappointed. Then they take pictures of your eyeballs (including the back) so the doc can review what is going on. That gal was very professional and explained everything so well to me so that also put me at ease. Dr. Wendel was also pleasant. Him and his Asst. work together while checking your images out and consulting each other about it the next step. A brief explanation of their findings was discussed right then and there. No waiting and worrying about it being told later. The surgery procedure I needed was provided next. I would recommend you to bring your old glasses/contacts prescription so the optometrist will know where to start with providing you the correct prescription. I unfortunately did not bring my old prescription to my appointment. I reviewed my old prescription compared to the one I received from this office and noticed my new prescription is weaker. What I like about this office is that the optometrist listened to my concerns regarding my old contact lenses and was able to provide me with a better brand. I opted to purchase a pair of glasses from this office and it took about two weeks for them to be ready. If you think you will need to make adjustments to your glasses, you must schedule a time to meet with an optician. This is the first time I have come across an optometry office requiring you to schedule a time to make adjustments to your glasses. I had a family member pick up my glasses so I wasn't able to see my glasses until later in the day. I noticed the lenses were a lot thicker than I was used to. My prescription is pretty high so I opted for the high index eyeglass lenses. High index lenses cost a lot more than normal lenses. The glasses I received definitely weren't high index and the way the lenses were shaved down didn't look right at all. I had quite a bit of a back and forth exchange with the office about these lenses not being correct. The office was telling me that these are high index lenses and the lab recommended I get a roll and polish for an extra charge. I have never gotten a roll and polish for any of my glasses. I really had to voice my concerns before the manager jumped in and agreed to send the glasses back to the lab for new high index lenses. It's a bit inconvenient that I had to request time off work to drop off the glasses and then schedule a time with the optician to try on the new glasses. Also, it took about another 2 weeks to get the correct glasses. However, i'm glad the office made things right by finally listening to my concern. The lenses to my new glasses are exactly what I was expecting. Overall, this office isn't the worst place. It's about average. At the end of the day, the office will try to fix the mistake. The optometrist I had listened to my concerns which is a plus as most optometrist just shrug your concerns off.

Even after episodes…read moreof squinting, straining and the occasional use of a magnifying glass, I still wasn't convinced that my eyes were as bad as my corneas were leading me to believe. So for years, I put off visiting an eye doctor until that recent, unexpected day arrived right after the holidays, when I started seeing a tiny spider-like object floating in the center of my vision! I was startled to say the least! It looked as if a baby spider was hanging on a web from either my bangs or my eye lashes! I tried to swat it away, but it wouldn't move! It bothered me all day long. I couldn't stop seeing it and I couldn't stop thinking about it! Then that night, when I drove home from work, I started seeing a string of lights at the right of my peripheral vision. So of course, I couldn't wait to get on the internet to look up my symptoms. There was a lot of information from benign "floaters" to a possible detached retina. I knew then it was time to schedule the dreaded appointment. When the day of my appointment arrived, I was a little nervous not knowing what to expect. The minute I entered the building, I was pretty impressed at how spacious and upscale the interior was which also had an optometry department on the other side of the reception area. I was immediately greeted by a friendly receptionist who checked me in and instructed me to fill out several pages of paperwork that included questionnaires, disclaimers and insurance info. When this was completed, I only had a short wait before a full and intensive eye exam began. Even before I saw the ophthalmologist, a technician did a series of thorough tests in preparation for his final exam and conclusions. I was taken aback at how high tech and state of the art this facility is. Equipment that I had never been exposed to before seemed a little scary but never caused any pain. The technician was very professional and efficient in performing the eye tests. However, I think I would have felt a little less nervous if maybe a brief description of what each procedure was testing you for could help put a patient more at ease and not "in the dark" so to speak. After these tests were completed, drops to dilate my eyes were instilled and caused them to burn and tear excessively. Then the ophthalmologist entered the room and greeted me with an introduction and handshake. He continued with more tests by looking directly into my eyes with an ophthalmoscope. In a commanding voice, he directed me to look up, look down, look left, right etc, etc. Every direction an eyeball could go! Finally, with a "comforting" pat on my arm, he said I know you may not want to hear this, but you have vitreous detachment. It's nothing serious, you're just getting old! Then he handed me a pamphlet on "Floaters and Flashers". I sheepishly left the building with dilated, watery eyes, sensitive to the daylight, and drove home with my new pet spider "Charlotte", a new life long companion that hangs out inside my right eye!

Review for UC Davis Eye Center & Dr. Brandt…read more I have been a patient at UC Davis Eye Center for over six years, but my recent experience has been deeply disappointing and concerning. Over the past year, my eye pressure has remained elevated despite being prescribed eye drops. I was told to continue the same drops for nearly a year, even though they were clearly not working. In contrast, when I visited Mayo Clinic, they monitored my eye pressure closely and adjusted medications every 4-6 weeks if they weren't effective. That's the kind of attentive, patient-centered care I expected -- and should have received -- at UC Davis. Unfortunately, under the care of Dr. Brandt, my treatment remained unchanged despite worsening vision. It was only after I experienced further vision loss that he finally decided to switch medications. This delay has caused irreversible damage and left me feeling neglected. It's clear to me that patient health is not the priority here -- efficiency and high patient volume seem to take precedence over proper individualized care. Dr. Brandt has been one of the most inconsiderate doctors I've ever encountered. He does not listen to patient concerns and seems disconnected from the actual impact of his decisions. I trusted this institution with my vision, and that trust has been broken. I would urge anyone considering treatment here -- especially for glaucoma or pressure-related issues -- to seek care elsewhere or advocate very strongly for yourself.
