So when I moved to Cd'A, I instantly sought it out and was happy to find there were a few in the area! I took my sister-in-law to one last month at another venue and was not very impressed. I felt rushed and the painting was not one that I'd put up in my house. Then I drove by Pilgrim's Market and saw the sign advertising their Paint and Wine Party for Friday the 13th (cue scary music) and decided to give it a try! Currently you register for the paint and wine via the Pilgrim's Market website - http://www.pilgrimsmarket.com/pilgrims-market/events-and-tastings.html (you email the events director). I got the very last spot available - WOOT! It was meant to be! I went alone, as I am trying to meet new people, and I was not disappointed in that respect, either! ;) Christina Canning is an amazing artist. Her 2 daughters are her assistants, and they are CONSTANTLY refreshing your dirty paint water. Did I mention that the $35 fee ALSO includes 2 glasses of wine and unlimited snacks (hummus, pita, bell peppers, gourmet popcorn, etc)?!?! UNREAL!! The guidance and direction and helpful hints that Christina gave to the class and each individual was amazing. She came by each participant no less than 6 times throughout the evening to check in and make sure that we were happy with our painting, and if not, she gave direction to improve it. (She spent more time with us than on her own painting; instead having her daughters finish certain steps so she could be walking around, helping, instead of showing off her mad skillz.) She also introduced/provided a product (I can't remember the name, but it sounded like a stool softener name LOL) that helps with BLENDING! So cool. My painting neighbors and I were impressed with how she did not cut corners in order to save a buck. AND, while the suggested time was 3 hours (not the 2 hours like the other places), there was no time limit! She did not rush us, encouraged us to walk around and get ideas/visit/grab a snack or refill wine if we had finished a step before others. OH! AND THE PAINTING! It was beautiful, complex and perfectly challenging. This wasn't some elementary art class (though I'm sure there are elementary kids who would've killed it!). I will actually put this painting up in my home - which is not true of any of my previous projects! Anyway, if you are looking for an amazing night with the girlfriends (or date night - there were 2 men there with their ladies!) or a chance to meet new people (the camaraderie was so relaxing and fun!) then I cannot recommend this fun-filled evening enough! :) I had more fun last night than I've had since moving to Idaho 5 months ago. Honestly, the only disappointing thing is that it's only once per month! (More, please!!!) **of note - she also was the artist who constructed the huge beautiful sunflower in the produce section of Pilgrims, and she does private paint parties. Melia and Jared were amazing tour guides--so knowledgeable, upbeat, and welcoming. Jared had us laughing nonstop with his hilarious commentary, and both he and Melia made us feel completely at ease. I honestly thought I was going to be scared, but they helped me feel so comfortable and confident every step of the way. The zip lining itself was SO much fun! Being up in the trees was absolutely breathtaking--the views were incredible. I loved how the course was designed to start off small and gradually build up to the biggest and best zip line at the end. It made the whole experience feel exciting without being overwhelming. It was such a fun, unforgettable way to celebrate our anniversary. We're already recommending Timberline Adventures to all our friends--and we'll definitely be back!
