Arrived on time, did excellent work and cleaned up each day before they left. And the work? Wow! Amazing. Walter is such a cooperative and humble person. Always checked with us to make sure our needs were being met and was always willing to do the little extras to make sure we were happy with the work. When my wife and I decided to construct a 700 square foot Master Retreat addition to our house, and a remodel of an additional 2 1/2 bathrooms, it was a no brainer who we would call. Again, the team was fantastic and the work was impeccable. Walter is a shining star with a great sense of humor. My only regret is that I can't find more work for him to do on the house. During the long 6 month project, I got to know Walter quite well. I know I am going to miss him. So if you need any construction/remodeling done on your property, don't hesitate to call Great Ocean....you won't be sorry that you did.

Hermes walked me through the design process in a manner which was adherent to both building code, and highlighting the improvements we desired. Moreover, Hermes and his crew made sure to give many helpful suggestions of design along the way, concepts we would never have considered. Also, Hermes helped us through the tough part of city permits with San Francisco city department. If you're reading this, you've probably already asked all your friends about their contractors. And…read morethey probably offered a tepid approval at best, a nightmare at worst. The bigger their project, the worse their experience. Amirite? I'm here to tell you, we are the unicorn that actually loved our contractor. We did a major remodel, addition and ADU project with Hubert / Plus One Construction. Which turned out more complicated than a clean tear-down and re-build. I shudder to imagine how it would have gone without Plus One. Hubert was a true partner. Someone we could trust had our best interests through all the surprises that inevitably pops up on a large project. We decided to go into this project without a designer. As it turned out, we were a bit in over our heads. But Hubert takes the time to outline all the options, pros and cons. Way more specific, practical and actionable compared to the dozens of reddit comments you might rabbit hole into when you're posing as a designer. Plus One is not the cheapest per se. We would know because we vetted and received proposals from over 10 contractors. And while I'm usually unreasonably cheap, we just got the right vibes from Hubert. And the vibes were correct. He doesn't ridiculously mark up the work that goes beyond scope. I am a sticker for not getting ripped off, it's almost a psychological hangup. And I never felt Hubert was pulling a fast one. In fact, he goes out his way to go the extra mile, even on things that should have been our responsibility. Even after the "end" of our scope of work, he had his guys come back several times to make sure everything was right. This alone might make him the best value in the long run, even if his starting proposal is not the cheapest. Hubert is pro-active i resolcing issues that might arise with an over-zealous city planning department. According to our neighbors, we live in such a city; but I wouldn't know, mostly thanks to Hubert. He knew our city's codes and how to work with them. In fact, he was offered a job by our city's planning department, they liked him so much. I suspect we got a friendly ref's whistle, so to speak, because our city planners just straight up liked Hubert. I write this after just completing a year+ long project with Hubert and his guys. And I'm not going to lie, we're a bit sad that they will not be in our lives anymore. Ask yourself, have you ever heard anyone say that about their contractor? We were lucky... but you can be too! Hire them and thank me later! (By the way, he did not ask me to write this. I felt compelled. The least I can do to return to return the favor. He did not build it; he made it happen.)

They took care of the permits, structural, plumbing, electric, etc. The entire project took about 5 months and we had good communication with Hubert throughout this time. We selected the materials (flooring, fixtures, paint, appliances, etc) and bought them - then Hubert's team would pick them up. The work was structured in about 6 phases with 10% or 20% payments at the completion of each. We also received competing quotes from 3 other GCs and Plus One Construction was the most reasonable while still giving us peace of mind.

Alexander Zaytsev is a thief!!!!! He stole $7000 from me…read more He took $ for materials, promissed work to be done in a month or 2, then disappeared for a year=no work done. When I finally got hold of him, he admitted that he spent my $ 1000 for materials, and next day told me he will not return it. I hired him before. He did a good job, showed me his good side (a mask, beneath which is a very, very, very bad person who bites the hand that feeds him). Then, after he developed my trust, he asked for $6000 for 1 year to pay off high interest credit card debt. I gave it to him but a year later when I asked for $ back he started giving me excuses, made me wait till he sells his car, then, asked for 2-3 more month, then 2-3 more. I still thought he could be trusted and treated him as a friend. I gave him construction work to work for this $ and I gave him $1000 more for materials. He promised work to be done in a month or 2. But, 1 year later - no work, no $ and he did not answer the phone and did not return phone calls for over 6 months. I finally reached him through contacting his wife, asked her to help me get hold of him and explained situation to her. Alexander then called me, told me, that he wanted to return but will not return me my $ because I am contacting his wife, I am a threat to his family. He said: "I'm not going to return anything to you out of principle!." This is his formula/his way to justify his low/thief/ratlike behavior. I want to warn all good people not to fall into his trap like I did. Summary: He did work for me cheap 1 st. 2 nd I gave him more work but it was very expensive but good. After he developed my trust he stole my $ by using deceit and manipulation and showed his real -antisocial personality disorder face. Not only did he steal $7000, He also refused to return keys from my 2 houses and garage remote control (I gave him keys a year ago when I gave him jobs and $1000 for materials).

We were introduced to Everson by a mutual friend, and we were immediately struck by his knowledge, humility, and warmth. From the beginning, Everson's responsiveness, thoughtfulness, and attention to detail stood out, and made him a great person to collaborate with. Before construction began, he provided critical insights into the impact of design decisions on construction timelines and overall budget, and his transparency and expertise helped us enter the construction phase well-prepared and set up for success.  Their commitment to transparency and true collaboration with the homeowner is notable, and made them stand out from other contractors that we considered for the project. We never felt pressured from their team to make a specific decision based on cost or timing, and instead found that they were trustworthy partners that would help us evaluate the options and make the decision most suited to our preferences and family. Everson's calm, level-headed demeanor was invaluable when inevitable unpleasant surprises arose (hello termite damage!), and his steadiness made tackling those challenges feel like a team sport instead of an individual battle. In addition to providing excellent project management throughout the project, my husband and I were particularly impressed by the high quality of the work that the Perez team completed. Everything from framing and drywall to tiling and fixture installation was completed with immense attention to the smallest of details and an eye towards perfection. Their network of subcontractors is excellent and we found everyone that they partnered with to bring the same level of professionalism, attention to detail, and high build quality that we came to realize was the norm for Perez Construction. The result of the high bar that they hold themselves to is a beautiful finish that can be enjoyed for years to come. We could not be more pleased with our decision to hire Perez Construction for our renovation, and recommend them highly. We would hire them again in a heartbeat and are grateful everyday that we get to enjoy the high quality of their work!

Perez and team were extremely friendly, communicative and skilled to swiftly tackle the many challenges of our project in a timely manner. They were also very accommodating to our needs during constructions as we lived upstairs and kept us involved at every step. Additionally, they integrated different technologies into their workflow to facilitate project management, such as using BuilderTrend for daily logging, payment tracking, messaging, etc. We are delighted with the overall results. Our newly renovated unit is exactly how we imagined it, and we moved in immediately once construction completed. We look forward to working with them in the future to renovate our other unit, and would recommend Perez Construction to anyone wishing to renovate their home.
