Saw this place featured on "The Rhode Show" and thought I'd give it a try. I was BLOWN AWAY by their delicious cupcakes. I have been going to A&J's nut free bakery in Cranston , because I was unaware of any other nut free bakery in RI. In my opinion, this bakeries cakes taste exceptional compared to the other place. I also like the fact they offer sugar-free items. Unfortunately, they have limited items (at least at the time I went). They don't make cookies, eclairs, lemon squares cheese cakes, bread or pies like the other bakery. If they were located in Cranston or Warwick, I would probably patronize the place more often. Ordered an extreme chocolate cake for a birthday and some yellow cupcakes with strawberry buttercream frosting. I don't like that much chocolate but the chocolate lovers said it was bomb. I had a cupcake and let me tell you it was soo fresh and tasty. It wasn't icky sweet but more naturally sweet like a strawberry. I will definitely order more of them. I bought a 1/4 sheet cake with Baby Shark theme and that's all it had on the cake...the print of the sharks and nothing else, no color, no decorations, no decorative frosting...nothing. I spoke with the owner, Sue, and she said I got what I ordered. I did not realize I had to ask or tell her to make it with colored trim, some decorations, etc. very disappointed and she does yack her product at all. she basically said it was my fault because I didn't ask for anything else. You're better off buying a cake from the market. it'll be prettier and taste better. read more

My daughter and her friends were so delighted at seeing the beautiful " flowers " . Totally dissapointed. I had two cakes made for my baby's first birthday and the only thing I liked was how the cookie monster smash cake turned out. Neither of the two cakes tasted like they tasted like box cakes, dry and had almost no filling. The vanilla tasted like pure frosting, not to mention that the cake to sing happy birthday was nothing of what I asked for. I am late in posting this but on December 30, 2014, I was looking for some certified nut-free cupcakes so I could take them to my daughter's preschool for her second birthday. My daughter is in love with Elmo, and Melissa made the most DELICIOUS, moist, scrumptious cupcakes that I've ever had. (Yes, I'm revealing myself to be the primary consumer of said cupcakes.) But what really made this a special experience -- one that took us all the way to Pawtucket from Newport via Maine -- is that we got a late start and weren't going to make it to the bakery before it closed on Sunday. I called Melissa and she actually came back to the store, on a Sunday, several hours past closing, so I could pick up my order. Btw, I ordered only 18 cupcakes so it's not like Awesome Sweets made a fortune on our order....it's just that they are that nice, professional and all around wonderful. They deliver, too. They love to decorate them by themselves and Melissa made the cupcakes, gave us individual servings of frosting on the side and gave us enough wooden spreaders for all the students. What i have to say about awesome sweets is how Melissa and her family made a disappointing situation into the hit of the party. My daughter Catherine's graduation/birthday party of 65 people started out at a small disaster when I walked into the venue and the room wasn't ready the air conditioning wasn't working and I saw no cupcakes set up as planned. I called Melissa an asked where they were and found out the the dates were not correct,which i will take the blame for not looking at my contract. Panic hit and I didn't know where to turn Melissa could not be any more apologetic. After hanging up an feeling lost trying to figure where to get a last minute dessert,my phone rang an Melissa was on the other end. She got me back to normal thinking then told me that within an hour roughly she could have my order there with a slight change to it and her mom was driving it down to me. I still to this moment don't know how they did it but about an hour later there was my tower of cupcakes. All I can tell you was that Melissa and awesome sweets saved my day. The cupcakes were the talk of the party,her professional way in handling the situation was above and beyond. I can't say enough positive things about this place.
