At the recommendation of a co-worker, I popped by Av's Spa and Salon a while back to get a set of simple short square acrylic nails. Here's my takeaways: ++ Walk-ins welcome. I barley even had to wait to be seen. ++ Did a decent/average job on my short square set of acrylics. ++ Located in a smaller strip mall near Southlands, there's plenty of parking. -- Felt like a quantity, not quality, operation. -- The various powder options they had available seemed geared more towards the nearby high school students (lots of neon and bright colors). Which left me getting gel on top of my acrylic. While my experience was overall alright I felt more like a number versus a customer. I won't be going out of my way to return. read more

Okay I normally don't post bad reviews but the scariest thing just happened to me at a nail salon. I sat down in the pedicure chair not noticing that there was a big chunk of leather missing from the back of the seat. I sat down and turned on my back massager. After a few minutes of relaxing, the massagers gears grabbed ahold of my hair and twisted it back into the machine. It pulled my head back and I had to literally rip a big chunk of hair out of my head as to not let the machine rip a part of my scalp off. I've been going to this place religiously every 2 weeks for years now. I got my nails done 2 days ago and they didn't end up being what I wanted or what I expected. I went in to have them fixed and they wanted me to pay the same price AGAIN even though they were just done. Nick was extremely rude to me. I do hair and if someone comes in a couple days later because it's not what they wanted I fix their hair for free because they are loyal customers and I want them to be happy therefore they come back to me. I can't believe after being so loyal to this nail spa, referring people here all the time and bringing friends with me to give them more business this is the way I'm treated. WORST SALON I'VE EVER BEEN TO!! First off they charged me $95 for shelaque on my hands and feet, at most luxury salons I would only pay $70 at most and thats with the option to do different kinds of manicures and pedicures which they do not have the option for. There were kids running around like it was a family gathering. I had to wait in the middle of getting my nails done for my person to cut someones hair. Had multiple people touch my nails in that time my person was cutting someone elses hair and ask what i was getting done and then walk away after they started my nails again. In all this is the worst experience I have ever had at a nail salon. It was unprofessional, unclean, and not relaxing at all and I spent a ridiculous amount of money on this and when I called to ask why I was charged so much they couldn't even decide their prices. I went here upon a recommendation from a friend and the first time I was disappointed but later found out it was because the girl doing my nails was new and had no clue what she was doing. I went in there today to check out the salon before I made an appointment. The salon was jam packed, no one was wearing mask. While i was waiting to ask about pricing someone pointed out the owner and she was doing shots.. let me rephrase this she left her client while she was doing a pedicure to do shots with other people in the back of the salon. I'm really, really bummed about this place. Everyone I've asked about this place says it's great but honestly, I hate my nails. I was a walk in, but I didn't have to wait long at all which I liked. I went in around 9 am. I got a pedi, which was just fine. She was really good with my feet (which are disgusting btw, I am not known for taking great care of my feet) they look much better afterwards, and I love the polish (dark purple). I don't get pedis often so I wouldn't know a great one from a terrible one to be honest. My pedi was $25. Now for the nails, let me first say that this is partially my fault due to the fact that this was my second time ever getting acrylics and I had no one experienced with me so I had no idea what I was doing. But I'm still very unhappy with how they turned out. I got gold sparkly tips and purple sparkly bases (bad combo in itself, my fault I admit). One of the guys did my nails, I'm not sure of his name though, and he seemed very rushed about it. The tips are very uneven, a lot of the gold ends are uneven and the lines separating the gold and purple are awful; several nails have air bubbles as well. My nail beds/cuticles look terrible too in that he didn't do anything with them and there's a gap between my cuticle and the acrylic. All in all my trip cost $60 (because getting two colors increases the price apparently, I didn't know that) and I'm disappointed. I called to reschedule to get them fixed as the guy sounded very annoyed and irritated, which I didn't appreciate at all. I will be going elsewhere to get these disasters fixed. I'm not and experienced nail salon customer but I'm still. very upset that they turned out the way they did, especial after all of the recommendations I received. Too bad! read more

My daughter introduced me to this nail salon. It is by far the best place I've been to! I'm a teacher & I'm hard on my nails. Not to mention they are weak, peel, & break. I got manicure with shellac/gel nails (not acrylics) and it lasted far beyond what they suggested it would. My regular polished pedicure never chipped off and lasted until it grew out & I removed the color. The staff is friendly & work very well together. At times, when we walk in, there is a slight wait. However, when we schedule an appointment, they are ready & waiting when we come in...even if there is a wait. I highly recommend AV's Nail Salon! (They do the best cuticle trim I've ever received! It started becoming a trend that one of the guys when I would get him, would end up cutting one of my fingers or being to aggressive. Then today, I was seated first before this one lady had walked in.
