For my first course I got the spreads assortment which comes with tzatziki, tarama, fava and htipiti, as well as pita bread. All the spreads were delicious! For my main course I got the lamb chops, which came with potatoes and asparagus. These lamb chops were packed with flavor and cooked beautifully. For dessert, our waiter was nice enough to give me both the small fruit plate AND the strawberry cheesecake (I had been trying to decide between the two). I was so surprised to get both, but glad I did because the strawberry cheesecake was the best I've ever had. I had a fresh Bronzino that was so incredibly flaky and delicious... But not nearly as flaky and delicious as this baklava. Probably one of the best that I've ever had and I've been to Greece. For a drink I had the Santorini Martini which was refreshing! We all ordered the well-priced prix fixe menu ($40) but had some additions. I just love dining at Avra! I've been to multiple locations on both coasts so I know what to expect when coming in! I wanted a nice lunch after a massage one day and made a quick reservation on open table. We were seated quickly and the space is expansive, and gorgeous! It did take a while to get menus, unfortunately. For my drink I started out with a non alcoholic mocktail called the hibiscus of Adonis. They could have brought me a whole pitcher of it because it was so good! I opted for the 3 course pri fixed menu and started with the tuna tartare which was just so fresh and full of flavor. I had the steak which was cooked a perfect medium. Finished off my meal with the baklava. Just melted in my mouth. This location is central to me so I'll definitely be back. A quick lunch here turned into an entire afternoon at this place. Fabulous! The aesthetic of this place is truly beautiful. The staff is attentive and everything is Prestine. It's the epitome of living here in Manhattan! I was not disappointed at all. As usual I enjoyed them accepting my pup with open arms. I want to stress that he is a service dog and always remains in his bag. Everything we ordered was so fresh I felt like they had a farm in their kitchen. We received our orders with good timing and we never felt like we were waiting for someone to attend us. All of the recommendations we had turned out spectacular. We loved all their other locations in the city and so had to try their Rockefeller location as well. Went for a weekend lunch and happy to say it was another great experience. Service is very friendly and professional with our waiter never being far away. We all ordered the lunch prie fix and everything was very good. This included the swordfish, branzino, lobster pasta, spreads/dips, calamari, among others. Really rich flavors across the board. 3 stars because my review is mixed. Would I go again? probably not by choice. The food was ok, the chocolate cake dessert was probably the only memorable dish accompanied by a Greek frappe. My complaint would be the service. The waiter disappeared for quite some time, wasn't even the same one when we paid. Didn't come over to ask how our food was. Even the fish skin was delicious. We ordered the salt encrusted fish but the waitress placed the order incorrectly and it arrived cooked traditionally. She apologized and explained that it would take 45 minutes to replace. Mistakes happen and the fish was delicious. She delivered a ton of free desserts. When our server would come talk to us he had to awkwardly hover to talk and was fighting for his life with the leaves. They start you off with a complimentary mezze spread. We ordered the zucchini chips (serves with a tzatziki spread in the middle which we totally didn't see), branzino, filet mignon, sides: asparagus and potatoes and finished off with the layered chocolate cake. All of it was delicious. The service was also outstanding. Such attention to detail. After eating the chips I would wipe my fingers on the napkin and one of the servers noticed. Avra offers a lot of healthy options and they do not skimp on the portions. I loved the Greek Salad and Lavraki! Everyone left full and happy with their choices. Expect the lunch to take about 1.5 - 2 hours (at least on a Saturday). They do not rush you which is appreciated. Our server was very attentive and kept our water glasses full and plates cleared. I thought this was a really cool and thoughtful offering as I don't see it often in other restaurants. We split a really good Greek salad and an assortment of spreads to start. My wife loved her branzino. I had an excellent, perfectly cooked salmon filet. The accompanying mixed greens were delicious. We split a fruit plate and a small serving of strawberry cheesecake for dessert. This was an hour and a half vacation.
