While the place is pretty, our Waiter was very nice and helpful -the food was not that special. We had an array of items, avra chips, drinks, Chx, steak etc Steak was a bit overcooked but by the time we cut into it we were on a time crunch so we thought wasn't worth dealing with it. Not sure if we would jump to come back so fast when there are so many great restaurants we enjoy.
This is my Mom's fave place to dine in NYC - and after going with her, I understand why! The patio is absolutely fabulous - an island of calm in very busy midtown. It's set off from the street, it's elegant, there's good shade and there's still good people watching. I approve! First, they have a SUPER deal if you come early - $41.95 for 3 courses, up until 4:30 pm daily! Sadly, we were running late, so we missed it and paid much higher dinner prices. APPETIZERS: When you sit down, they give you comp humus and pita, with radishes, olives and marinated red peppers. Nice to munch on. One of my fam members loves the fish soup - and it was so hot in NYC I didn't know why he wanted soup! But I'm so glad he ordered it. It was super delicious and not uncomfortable to eat on a hot day. ENTREE: We decided to order a whole fish to be filleted and grilled. They have a big selection of fresh fish on ice inside, and you can go in and choose something. It was extremely delicious - just perfectly charred. Mom would give this place 5 stars every time. She loves the service & how the gentlemen waiters are very patient as she decides what she's getting. But I'll stick with a very happy 4 for a few reasons. 1, my roasted lemon potatoes were meh and a little disappointing. 2, the bathroom situation! Only one stall on the main floor for a very busy restaurant, otherwise you're climbing a grand staircase to go on the top floor. 3, if we had come for the prix fixe early bird as mom usually does, it would have been a no-brainer 5-stars, but at regular prices I'm good at 4. Otherwise, I enjoyed Avra thoroughly and will happily return the next time I'm visiting. I understand why Mom is thrilled every time she gets to go there and wants to send pictures of her happily enjoying a meal with a new set of friends - and she raves about the delicious food she's getting in their prix fixe.
Dined here with a coworker for lunch this week. It's a very popular spot for business lunches and tourists in the Rock Center area, so you want to make a reservation if you're coming between t12 - 2 pm. Patio dining is first come, first serve. Since it wasn't too humid out, after we checked in for our reservation, we asked to get an outdoor table. There are a good number of umbrellas but many of the tables for 2 ended up getting hit by sun, whether due to being uncovered or from it reflecting off buildings, so after changing tables once and the amount of sun getting worse, we decided to ask to go back inside. At that point, they were only able to accommodate us at a table in the lounge area right behind the hostess stand. That table ended up being OK though since they had the front door open, so it wasn't too cold and the noise level was moderate. We both decided to order off the $42 price fix menu ($45.67 after tax). We shared our apps: grilled calamari and the salmon tartare. The salmon tartare was delicious, and it went well with the complimentary basket of pita crackers they brought out when we sat. For my main, I did the fish of the day which was a branzino filet with vegetables. The fish was delicious and a good-sized portion. The vegetable & potato mix on the side had really good flavor. The desserts are petite portions which is fine for lunch. I had the strawberry cheesecake, and my colleague had the baklava. The cheesecake was fine; the baklava was much better - I tried a piece! They also gave us complimentary hummus, olives, and peppers with pita when we sat down. We both left very full. It felt like a good value. Service was very good throughout the meal. Waters were constantly refilled. Food came out quickly from the kitchen. Two different managers came by at separate times to check in on us. It's very pretty inside - bright & airy on the main level. Very pretty bar too - medium sized. I can see why this restaurant is so popular!
We have an always liked the Madison location of Avra but have now tried this newer location a couple of times. It is very big inside, with 3 levels for seating. The lower level is quieter if that is more your vibe. From upstairs, you can look down and see the whole place, including the beautiful seafood on ice. Our food was delicious, and the cocktails were as pretty as they were tasty. If you love seafood, this is an excellent choice!
Avra, a Mediterranean hot spot in NYC (with a new location in Boston) While in NYC we stopped here for a snack on a busy lunch day in the heart of Rockefeller Center. The place was jammed packed with suits and ties. You can tell this is the spot for power lunches, work meetings, and after work cocktails. We found 2 seats at the bar (luckily) since the rain was coming down heavy. I could'nt believe how big this place was and how gorgeous. My eyes were gazing all around, taking in the beauty. If you follow me you know I admire decor and ambiance big time and always add it to my reviews. The bartenders are so friendly as well! We started off with 2 glasses of Assyrtiko, a popular grape variety from Santorini, Greece. We then shared their housemade Hummus and Greek Salad. Everything came out so fresh and delicious. We opted out of dessert but ended up enjoying a few more glasses of red wine this time. Everything from start to finish was spectacular. We didn't want to leave on a rainy afternoon in NYC but we had to catch our train. They do have other locations in the city so I highly recommend looking them up. Also, they just opened a location in Boston so I am very excited to try Avra in my hometown. Cheers~
I went here to take my colleague out to lunch during the week. Avra has a great prix fixe lunch menu during the week. For my first course I got the spreads assortment which comes with tzatziki, tarama, fava and htipiti, as well as pita bread. All the spreads were delicious! For my main course I got the lamb chops, which came with potatoes and asparagus. These lamb chops were packed with flavor and cooked beautifully. For dessert, our waiter was nice enough to give me both the small fruit plate AND the strawberry cheesecake (I had been trying to decide between the two). I was so surprised to get both, but glad I did because the strawberry cheesecake was the best I've ever had. Aside from the food and great service, the ambiance is perfect for a work lunch or dinner, date night, or a celebration event.
I had a great late lunch here with coworkers! They gave us hummus and pita and brought out a separate hummus and crudités for my gluten free coworker! For a drink I had the Santorini Martini which was refreshing! We all ordered the well-priced prix fixe menu ($40) but had some additions. I had the tuna tartare (10/10) and tried the spicy crispy rice (7/10 I've had better). For the main I got the pacific swordfish (10/10 it was so juicy and the potatoes were great even though they weren't crispy like I typically like) Then for dessert I had the orange cake (10/10) I'd absolutely come back!
Avra opened in 2000 on East 48th Street in Midtown East serving Greek coastal seafood. They now have four locations in NYC. It's my mom's favorite. She'll come into the city anytime we book here. We always start with the Avra chips. Can't recommend enough. It was my second time having the Hawaiian Big Eye Tuna and it was excellent again. The space is gorgeous, service is amazing, and the vibe is lively and elegant.

Great seafood in a retro vibe with servers in white jackets and ties. Fresh fish selection actually brought to your table. I had Sea bass which was exquisite. The towering hunk of fish was tender and almost sweet. It was accompanied by a delicious tomato based sauce with onion, carrots and potatoes. Probably the best prepared fish i ever had in a restaurant!

I wanted a nice lunch after a massage one day and made a quick reservation on open table. We were seated quickly and the space is expansive, and gorgeous! It did take a while to get menus, unfortunately. For my drink I started out with a non alcoholic mocktail called the hibiscus of Adonis. They could have brought me a whole pitcher of it because it was so good! I opted for the 3 course pri fixed menu and started with the tuna tartare which was just so fresh and full of flavor. I had the steak which was cooked a perfect medium. Finished off my meal with the baklava. Just melted in my mouth. This location is central to me so I'll definitely be back. If, for nothing else but the hibiscus of Adonis!
Stopped by for lunch when I was in the area. I've been here before but for dinners. Staff was friendly as ever and very attentive. Grabbed their lunch prix-fixe. The salmon tartare wasn't overly seasoned and just tasted very fresh. Branzino was the star it usually is. And the Sauvignon blanc tied it all together.
Dear fellow foodies... don't skip the grilled octopus! My husband and I culminated our date night with dinner at Avra Rockefeller Center and they did not disappoint. The restaurant is gorgeous and spacious. Despite being full to capacity, the ambience remained cosy and non-intrusive. The service was impeccable and timely and the food was delicious.
This is the most convenient place if you're going to Radio city. Right across the street. Gorgeous outdoor seating , weather permitting. Amazing service. Just be prepared to spend a pretty penny Complimentary amazing hummus with pita bread , olives and radish - Greek salad - the most tasty tomatoes and feta - Shrimp cocktail (4). The biggest shrimp I've ever seen. Fried calamari. Lightly fried. Lemon potatoes. Deliciously lemony. Could have been a larger portion Clean restroom. Beautiful place. I'd return. read more

A quick lunch here turned into an entire afternoon at this place. Fabulous! The aesthetic of this place is truly beautiful. The staff is attentive and everything is Prestine. It's the epitome of living here in Manhattan! I was not disappointed at all. As usual I enjoyed them accepting my pup with open arms. I want to stress that he is a service dog and always remains in his bag. Everything we ordered was so fresh I felt like they had a farm in their kitchen. We received our orders with good timing and we never felt like we were waiting for someone to attend us. All of the recommendations we had turned out spectacular. My favorite was for sure the in-house ice cream. Our waiter James needs a shout out! He was freaking awesome. He explained the menu very well and was always a step ahead of us. Attentive and the type of person every restaurant needs. Cannot wait to be back here and if you're in the area I give this a 10/10. read more

I had a fresh Bronzino that was so incredibly flaky and delicious... But not nearly as flaky and delicious as this baklava. Probably one of the best that I've ever had and I've been to Greece. Great overall atmosphere for anywhere from a date night to a business meeting... I personally was there for a business lunch and got the three course meal. Great value our our staff overall was accommodating, swift and communicative. read more

Private dining room in the basement is great for corporate or cozy dinners. The decor is a bit old fashioned but neat. Service was food and attentive. I asked for some feta to salt my cauliflower; it was off menu but the feta came discretely and efficiently. There are no real vegetarian entrees but they did a lovely cauliflower steak with veggies which was tasty once I added some feta. Cocktails were stiff and excellent. My baklava old fashioned was a bit sweet but hit the spot. Dessert included walnut cake, olive oil cake and fruits. All of which was lovely. read more
We loved all their other locations in the city and so had to try their Rockefeller location as well. Went for a weekend lunch and happy to say it was another great experience. Service is very friendly and professional with our waiter never being far away. We all ordered the lunch prie fix and everything was very good. This included the swordfish, branzino, lobster pasta, spreads/dips, calamari, among others. Really rich flavors across the board. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed with high ceilings and large windows centers very close to some of the big midtown tourist locations. Strongly recommended! read more

Came here post a show at Radio City. It was convenient as it was one of the places open until 12am. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a couple of cocktails coupled with small bites. We were given small appetizers to start with (hummus with some flat bread). Had a great time - the place was massive and the cocktails were pretty good! read more
Ten out of ten for taste, freshness, service and ambiance. It's right in the center of Rockefeller center! The place is very clean. Everything I've tried on the menu is delicious. Their lunch specials, which end at 4:30 PM daily are hearty, fresh, DELICIOUS, and top notch. waiter Johnny I had last time was a gem. Their flowers always fresh. The views from this restaurant are the best in town on both the first and second floor. read more

Excellent Avra right across from Radio City Music Hall. Beautiful ambiance, an oasis amidst the hustle and bustle. We did not want to leave. Our waiter was Tony, he was hospitable, knowledgeable, and made great recommendations! We loved everything we ordered. Favorites included: Avra chips (zucchini chips with spiced tzatziki), Greek salad, Crab cake, Chilean sea bass plaki. read more

Loved it. Very pricey but loved it. I made the mistake to order extra hummus not realizing you receive a complimentary hummus plate so be cognizant of that. Everything is stellar and they have a little mocktail list in case you're doing a cleanse or drinking hiatus. Interior is stunning and weeknight bar crowd is packed. Definitely recommend to try at least once. The lack of an extra star is personal nuance - I'm not sure $34 for tomatoes and cucumbers is reasonable. Yes, everything was fresh but who's going to be paying these prices in these uncertain times (October 2025). read more

Located right across the street from Radio City, the seafood here is fresh and yet excellent. My friend made a reservation for Saturday evening and we were seated promptly upon arrival. ORDERED: Tuna tater - It was very fresh Grilled octopus - this is prob my favorite. It was delicious Lobster pasta - it was tasty. I love how they have all the lobster meats out. Prosecco - sparkly and refreshing SERVICE: The service was excellent although our waiter disappeared in between and someone else has to sub in to take our main order. Other than that, everything was perfect. AMBIANCE: Very elegant. read more
Had Valentines Day dinner here and it was AMAZING. Beautiful restaurant. We were seated on the first floor but in a weird corner spot by this potted plant. When our server would come talk to us he had to awkwardly hover to talk and was fighting for his life with the leaves. They start you off with a complimentary mezze spread. We ordered the zucchini chips (serves with a tzatziki spread in the middle which we totally didn't see), branzino, filet mignon, sides: asparagus and potatoes and finished off with the layered chocolate cake. All of it was delicious. The service was also outstanding. Such attention to detail. After eating the chips I would wipe my fingers on the napkin and one of the servers noticed. He brought me a tablet napkin. So thoughtful. Would absolutely return and recommend. Pricey but worth it. read more
I've dined at Avra at the Upper East Side Location . This new site is EXPANSIVE. three levels of dining plus outdoor in the summer . I appreciate and take note that although this site is huge , the service and attention is not lost in the vastness . My server was as attentive , as if i was at the other cozy location . My Chilean Sea Bass was by far one of the best dishes i've savored this year ! read more
Came for dinner one night while my family was visiting from out of town. This is actual Greek cooking using Mediterranean flavors and style. The fresh fish option was great. Lunch Review: Wonderful three course prefix lunch special for $38. In addition to the lunch special, you are also served a complimentary hummus plate with some crunchy pita bread. Avra offers a lot of healthy options and they do not skimp on the portions. I loved the Greek Salad and Lavraki! Everyone left full and happy with their choices. Expect the lunch to take about 1.5 - 2 hours (at least on a Saturday). They do not rush you which is appreciated. Our server was very attentive and kept our water glasses full and plates cleared. I would highly recommended Avra for a great lunch at a nice restaurant in the Rock Center area. read more

They have an "All Day Menu" and a "Lunch Menu" that also offers a "Three-Course Prix Fixe" from 11:30 am - 4 pm Daily. Hope this helps.
