Beautiful restaurant with a bright, airy vibe and an impressive seafood display when you walk in. We came here at around 6pm on a week day for a corporate dinner. We tried the Avra chips (crispy zucchini and eggplant with tzatziki) and grilled octopus to start and both were excellent. The whole branzino was super fresh and perfectly cooked, and the lobster pasta was rich and flavorful. Service was friendly, though a bit slow at times, and prices are definitely on the high end. Still, for a special night out with great Mediterranean seafood flavors, Avra is worth it.

I went to Avra to celebrate my birthday and it was truly a wonderful experience. The service was spectacular. All the servers and staff were friendly and super attentive the entire time. We ordered from the Miami Spice menu which was delicious. I had the salmon tartare, branzino and olive oil cake, super delicious! They even brought me a separate cheesecake for my birthday. Looking forward to going back again soon!

One of our favorite restaurants in south Florida! Beautiful ambiance. Delicious food! Very romantic for a date night, girls night or with family. Service is always impeccable.

Had a great dinner at Avra ... the restaurant and service is perfect. The restaurant is really beautiful definitely gives Miami vibes. The Greek salad was unlike I have ever had. The tomatoes are amazing. They have a great selection of fresh fish. We had the branzino and the Dover both were fresh and greatly cooked. The Avra chips were perfect and overall it was a great night.

My meal here was great! Food was fresh and delish! The waiter took us to the fish market to look at all the options and when you order they even bring the selected fish to the table prior to cooking for your review. The hummus is a great freebie and you can ask for more! Hostess staff is not nice though. Beautiful restaurant inside but bummed that there was no good view of ocean since it's located on the beach.

The food is good, the ambiance beautiful, but the service leaves a bit to be desired. Our server was very grouchy and kept trying to push us toward more expensive items, more expensive wine and even switched an app to a much more expensive entree. I called the manager the day after when I took a closer look at the bill and she was able to adjust for the sneaky upcharges. Took forever to get our wine. The food was delicious, everything from the zucchini and eggplant chips to the fish, but the prices are a bit outrageous. You're paying for the location after all. I did not like the baklava for dessert, it was tough as a rock (not soft and flaky like it should be) and did not taste like any baklava I've ever had. All in all, we probably would have had a much nicer experience here if it hadn't been for our unpleasant waiter. It was three of us (elegantly dressed middle aged ladies celebrating our friend's 50th birthday) and he single handedly ruined the mood and the evening for us. What a shame.

AVRA's relatively new Miami location maintains the quality and consistency of its NYC predecessors. The space is gorgeous and classy. It lends itself well to date night and family dinners alike with a mix of cozy round booths on the perimeter and longer central tables. The service is intuitive and friendly. Almost everything on the menu is delicious and crave-able. There is a huge selection of fish and seafood which can be prepared by virtually any method you desire. My favorite appetizers are the Avra chips and octopus. No visit is complete without the chopped green salad. The hamachi and salmon crudo were good but the portion was small - skip this unless you're craving sashimi. For mains the Branzino is a go to. The lamb chops are also great quality and well prepared. This time I tried the Carabineros (scarlet prawns) and it's safe to say I will be ordering these sweet and tender shrimp again. I have to give a bid to the cocktails as well as they were expertly mixed. Finally, I'm not actually a huge fan of most of the dessert options, but the olive oil cake is moist and the sweetness is just right. The chocolate and pistachio ice creams were also excellent - they are not your typical ice cream parlor flavors. Overall, AVRA Miami serves up a consistently great experience in a beautiful and upscale setting making it a staple for a nice dinner out.

    * One of the most beautiful restaurants in South Florida * Elegant interior, pool and beach views from the outdoor patio * High end Fine Dining- Refined Greek Cuisine * Figure $100-200 per person depending on beverages * The focus is on fresh seafood * Reservations a MUST in season and weekends * Valet only parking $15+ * Ask for Omar or Marcos for extra special service Millions of dollars were spent to build this 10,000 square foot showcase restaurant at Acqualina on the Ocean in Sunny Isles Beach. The team at Avra has had great success for years with three popular restaurants in New York City and one in Beverly Hills. Since there are no prices on the online menus plan on spending $30-$50 for appetizers, $40-70 for entrees, $18 for cocktails and about three times retail for wine from their 17 page old world focused wine list. There are about 16 wine choices by the glass rating from $14-45, but nothing very inspiring for oenophiles. This is a place to come for fresh seafood. Non seafood eaters can find some great lamb chops, steak, vegetables and salads, but this is really about the freshest fish flown in from around the world and on display for you. There is an extensive choice of tartares, sashimi and ceviche, outstanding grilled octopus, crab cake, lobster cocktail, caviar. You can select a whole fish from the attractive display and have it prepared grilled, sautéed or even made into sashimi for an extra $25. Make sure to try the lemon sauce. How does it compare to Milos? Avra is more elegant with the views that Milos does not have. Milos is slightly better on the food. The Avra zucchini and eggplant chips are ok, but don't compare to the ultra thin ephemeral chips of Milos. Wine collectors can bring a wine here for $75 per bottle, Milos bans outside wine. Desserts are nothing special, try the luxurious Greek yoghurt.

Attractive decor, great vibe, noise level lively, but we were easily able to have conversation at our table for four. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. Our exceptional "guide" for the evening, Belen, was welcoming, gave a brief intro to the menu, and absolutely added to the positive experience in every way. Service and the pace of the evening was on point. We did not take her recommendation of the Salatim Tower (flatbread with a sample of every spread) to start, but built our own choose 3 + pita - all delicious!! We were ranking the spreads as we moved on to open-fire Saffron Caramelized Cod, Moroccan couscous and fire-roasted carrots. Our conversation was replaced with oohs and aaahs and comments of "yum" or "omg". We all planned to pass on dessert, but Belen mentioned their signature tahini soft serve, adding customers have called it "life-changing", so we shared one and it was. Unbelievably delicate, unique and delicious. With a bottle of wine and tip the evening was $425. Thank you, marvelous Belen!!!

We've been hitting up Mediterranean restaurants like nobody's business on this leg of our spring…read morebreak, in part because of our proximity to many, and in part because my progeny and I are currently obsessed with babaganoush in its many variations. For this particular dinner, we were also focused on finding a truly vegetarian friendly restaurant where we could take our dear friends. Kabobji was a wonderful choice for vegetarians, omnivores, and carnivores alike. It's a large restaurant with plenty of booths and large tables for gathering with friends and family. Someone I suspect to be an owner was working hard alongside his wait staff and displayed a sense of genuine hospitality. Above all, the restaurant has a rock solid kitchen. The falafel ($13.99 / 5 pieces) here were ****STELLAR****!!! They're shaped like Indian medu vada (fried with a hole in the middle), probably for the same reason: to allow as much of the surface to fry to that perfect golden crisp as possible. And Kabobji's falafel were, in fact, awesomely crisp and well textured, made from soaked chickpeas in the traditional style, perfectly sized, nuanced and subtle in flavor -- some of the best we can remember having. (For reference, we love Nish Nush and Tanoreen for falafel in NYC -- and I think our neighborhood must be one of the major international epicenters for falafel.) Also excellent: the baba ghannouj ($10.99 for the small size), just a bit chunky, enriched with a lot of tahini, a moderate amount of garlic, a touch of lemon. This is how we like to make it at home. The vegetable ghallaba platter ($20.99) was simply made with thinly sliced onions and bell peppers, a small amount of zucchini, I think, and a touch of tomato. I would've loved to have had a spritz of lemon or sprinkle of sumac for a more acidic component, perhaps a little less onion. Note that this dish works better as a main course when accompanied by something protein-y like hummus, but it was pleasant to eat alongside our other orders. A convive, who went with the mixed shawarma platter ($27.99), found it to be a generous portion size and enjoyed it, especially with a side of well composed fattoush salad (+$5.99 to upgrade). Beef shish kebab ($14.99) and lamb shawarma ($15.99) wraps were both excellent and moist, a good balance of protein and vegetable. I didn't try them, but the "cheese pies" ($12.99) turned out to be pitas covered with a large amount of melty white cheese that some young children might enjoy as pizza. (Mine probably would've found them to be "too cheesy," but they're mutants.) They came three to an order. When you dine in, they bring a big basket of warm pita / pida to the table -- quite a generous touch!! I think it's house made and of course went beautifully with our food. Bottom line: GREAT FALAFEL! Great, low-key, family-friendly vibe. Good for vegetarians and non-vegs. Go.

Because we had a large group, we ordered two veggie mezzas for the table. They come with grape leaves, baba ghannouj, and hummus, which makes them perfect for sharing. Some of us switched it up and tried the spicy fish, sautéed shrimp, and the mixed shawarma platter. No regrets. The fish was so flavorful and the perfect size. LollllpThe rest of us stuck to the kabobs and lamb, which are consistently a safe bet. The space is great too. The huge windows give you beautiful lighting, and they have seating for large parties that still feels more private. We'll definitely be back.

The falafel was terrible, the chicken kebob plate was awful, and the overall food quality was completely unacceptable for somewhere calling itself Mediterranean cuisine. The dish claimed to come with peppers there was literally one tiny piece in the entire kebab. The chicken had no flavor and tasted poorly, and the rice was completely off, more like Mexican rice than anything remotely Mediterranean. What's even more frustrating is the way the staff handled it. When we raised concerns, they didn't take any responsibility and brushed it off as if the issue was on us. No attempt to fix the problem, no acknowledgment just dismissive and unprofessional. And somehow, they charge a mandatory 20% service fee for this. For what? There was zero service, zero care, and zero effort to make things right. Charging customers extra while delivering this level of food and attitude is unacceptable. Do not waste your time or money here. There are far better options out there. Honestly, I'd take store-bought hummus from Publix over this. If you actually want good Mediterranean food and proper service, go to Ethos instead it's night and day. This place is not worth it.
