Food is always amazing! Love their steak and chicken kabobs! Went in because I was waiting for my glasses to be ready and grabbed some chicken salad which is so good and sat at their table on a beautiful day! A little expensive but worth it!

    Cookies!

Amazing lobster role and croque monsieur! Lobster was tender and buttery. Croque monsieur was delicious. Great way to celebrate Mothers Day!

I was planning to BBQ for my parent's summer party at the end of June up in Simsbury. I live in CA, so naturally I wanted to do Santa Maria Tri-Tip roasts, thinly sliced, medium rare, in toasty Bolillo rolls, with my Salsa Fresca, Zab's hot sauce (Goleta CA), and my twist on an Apple Horseradish sauce (recipe improved and borrowed-from liberally from the BBQ aces at Cold Spring Tavern, in Santa Barbara!). Avon Prime!! Great service and vibe in the shop as well. Also, additional shout out to Zab's hot sauces in Goleta, CA, shipped a couple St. Augustine sauces out to CT only to find they sold them on the butcher counter at Fitzgerald's Grocery in downtown Simsbury! NICE! I dry brined with Jake's Famous Pure Santa Maria Dry Rub, and Meat Church's (hi Matt!!) Garlic and Herbs blend, dry rubbed over night. Wish I had more pictures. I was a one-man show on the grill, so had no time. AVON PRIME MEATS (Thanks Jeremy and the crew!), killed it sourcing my Tri-Tips (we did 9 of them - 15 lbs), and with the Bolillo rolls I ordered from Mana Bakery in Meriden, the food was a massive hit at the party! Love you guys forever!

Love stopping here when in the area as there meat selection is always phenomenal. For new years this year decided to get a beef Wellington which exceeded expectations! They also have a great selection of cheeses in there and the back have a good selection of different meets including venison, bison and others. They are always friendly and willing to help with any questions about any of the items they have. there soft pretzels which i believe come from Hartford are also amazing! If you are in the area and looking for a great selection of chicken, pork, and beef this is a must stop.

ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PLACE TO GET MEAT! Everything from their butcher cuts, marinaded meats, to produce I AM IN LOVE! Everything is perfect! I have had their breakfast sausages which are PERFECT to their prime cuts and I am overly thrilled with it all. We order our holiday meats from here, staff is extremely helpful and attentive and answer ever question you may have! 10/10 recommend coming out and trying it! I go once a week and it's worth the drive! Kids love the "moo-moo cow" out front and even he's COVID friendly wearing a mask! LOVE IT!

Always a great place for a sandwich! Great Boars Head deli meat and fresh bread! Love to stop in for their specialty items as well. Great local desserts, many different cuts of meat to choose from as well as cheeses. This is my go to for prime rib or tenderloin for special occasions as well.

Bone marrow and duck wings. It's like a shopping market in the Flintstones!

If there's one thing my son and I are ALLLL about, it's fancy and exotic meats. We'll pretty much try anything once and have never turned down an opportunity to experience something wild. The problem is that there is really nothing local that challenges us in that carnivorous way we love. While discussing the Christmas dinner menu last November, he decided to just go ahead and Google "fancy exotic meats". The idea was to find a place that had a whole Goose, but if it had OTHER stuff too...DOUBLE WIN! Luckily this place came up near the top of the list and after some brief investigation and a bit more Googling, we found it wasn't super far from us (~30 minutes) and that they did indeed have the Goose, and...other stuff. We planned a Saturday afternoon trip for the upcoming weekend. Coming from our part of the state, it was actually a really awesome drive. Super scenic, small town after small town. It wasn't until we actually turned the corner onto the street it's located on that it actually seemed like an actual busy town. Quickly found the place in a quaint little plaza and grabbed a parking spot. On a side note, this whole area seemed really awesome. It was our first time through and we were impressed with the variety of shops, eateries, etc. Very cool. As soon as you walk into the place, the smell hits you and you know you're in for some belly love. The main deli counter was over to our right and we went right up to check out the menu. The plan was to get a few sandwiches and the Goose and maybe browse around for a bit. We ordered an Italian Stallion and an Ultimate Black and Blue Steak sandwich. The polite gent behind the counter let us know that it would just be a few minutes and to have a look around, we obliged him! Let me just say that this place has like EVERYthing. I mean something for everyone. Fancy hot sauces, a whole charcuterie section, LOVE!!!!! It's just a really cool store with more cool stuff than we could have even covered. And the back freezer with exotic meats was literally exactly what we were looking for. Kangaroo burgers? YES! We started small and grabbed some duck wings and a big hunk of marrow bone. We also took the time to peruse the fresh meat selection, I mean...It's a meat market so you gotta right? Everything was on the pricey side as expected, but visually it looked absolutely amazing. I couldn't resist grabbing a NY strip, just on principle. The sandwiches were ready in 10-15 minutes and we were on our way. Being that we were starving and 30 minutes from home we decided to indulge in the car and that was a good call. Really amazing sandwiches to the point of no matter what you're there for, you almost have to get one. They ended up not having any whole goose in the freezer as it was still a month or so away from Christmas and the guy told us to come back in a week or so. Busy schedule prevented that, but we will be back regardless. Grilled the steak that night and it was absolutely amazing. It tasted like steaks I've paid 3 times as much for in fancy restaurants. Just awesome.

Name change alert !! The same great stuff, but the store has a new name. In April 2014 , the various franchises of the Meat House ran into some financial difficulty, and the chain closed down to reorganize. The owners of the Avon franchise have decided to go it alone, and renamed their venture "Avon Prime Meats". Because their stock was locally sourced, they are in effect selling the exact same stuff they were as a Meat House franchisee. We popped in Saturday and the store looks exactly the same, including the freebie meat samples in the back of the store and the salsa and chip samples in the front of the store. We picked up two pounds of their wonderful maple bourbon steak tips and grilled them up at home. They were just tremendous. So bottom line, nothing has changed, except the name. They have new signage over the front door and a new advertising logo on their catering truck

There were plenty of free on-street parking when we went. Since moving to the town of Canton, I have been meaning to make a trip. This past Sunday on Labor Day weekend, I finally made it. There was live music. The market was full of people shopping and vendors. There were produce, British baked goods, mushroom coffee and jerky, maple syrup, books, art, soap, shirts, jewelry, etc. There were plenty of vendors selling all their goodies. We visited each stand and enjoyed shopping and window shopping. We purchased cookies from Calos cookies, scones from the British stand, and maple lollipops from another stand. The Cow's Coop brought a baby cow (calf); it was so cute. After, we went to get coffee at LaSalle's and walked around the town. The weather was perfect, the vendors were friendly, I look forward to going back and supporting more small businesses.

Maybe its the ultra friendly vendors. Maybe its the drop dead gorgeous scenery as you look over the Crown and Hammer. Maybe it's all the bicyclists and joggers that are everywhere. Maybe its all that granola and nuts and seeds and tie dye. It's like hard to explain, man..... We bought some corn, and a pizza and biscottis from Collinsville bakery. There are quite a bit of vendors here, most definitely more than when we started patronizing the Market a few years ago. Beautiful fresh produce is available from dozens of stands, plus meats, baked goods, herbs, eggs, you name it. It's a wonderful way to spend a few hours on a Sunday Summer afternoon.

My favorite purchases were the fresh cut egg linguine and the Ritz-based stuffed cod. The fresh linguine cooks in a minute and the texture just hits different in the best possible way. The cod was nice and firm and the Ritz stuffing was crazy delicious. I also liked the Chicken Francaise. You can't really compare it to restaurant quality Francaise because it's specifically made to be re-heated and eaten later. With this in mind, I though that the small chicken pieces and lemon sauce were very solid. My other purchases included clam chowder and Tuna Mac Salad with peas. The Tuna Mac was pretty good. It wouldn't be in regular rotation for me, but I'd get it once in a while. The clam chowder was my least favorite, but I respect that New England Pasta seemed to go for something different. The texture was good and it had plenty of clams and potato. But it tasted like it had a little blue cheese flavor. I can't say for sure that they used blue cheese, but the chowder definitely had something different that gave it this vibe. For me, this flavor was a bit too assertive. But, as other Yelpers have already stated, the prices are considerably more expensive than items found in your "normal grocery store". One reason might be the small ARMY of staff they have working here. I arrived just after they opened at 8am this morning, EVERY aisle had at least two or three employees stocking shelves. Yeah, the store is nice & clean, but I imagine the higher prices on stock reflect that level of staffing.
