Start by saying that my review is based on the items I got, there seem to be some pretty good options I did not get to try, and would be open to returning to have them. The iced chai latte was nothing special - it was just chai concentrate & milk. The matcha latte was one of the better ones we have tried. The paninis we got were tasty & were a good price - all items were reasonably priced, but again, nothing extraordinary. The vibe is definitely for a particular crowd, especially movie lovers as there are lots of movie posters all over. There are a few barstools available inside and a couple of tables outside. Cafe Avito a special place I shared this with my wife how comfortable you and your coffee shop made me feel yesterday. I felt I was back in time. You took time to talk to your customers and ask them about what is going on in their lives. Your customers took time to talk to me. It made me feel like I was with my parents going shopping again. I only go to Starbucks one time a year when I get a free coffee for my birthday, but no one talks to each other. They just rush in and out. I go to McDonald's for coffee when i travel to Indianapolis to see my daughter and no one talks to anybody anymore. Cafe Avito is a special place. Avito is an Italian themed cafe that claims to be the first coffee shop in Berwyn. Hard to believe, but who are you to question these guys? If you say something bad you might end up sleeping with the fishes, know what I mean? Good basic coffee. The fancier stuff they have includes cold brew and lattes. Getting here is kind of a walk from the train station, making this more of a local favorite. It's just a small place with a counter and a couple chairs inside. There's a few tables outside. It's pretty simple, as far as getting coffee. The decor is the most interesting thing. On the walls are all kinds of Italian movie and music memorabilia. The coffee also can have this theme. I got a cup of the coolest sounding coffee. The Tony Montana is like "the coffee is yours." It's $4.50 for a medium. This is coffee with a double shot. Coffee is the main thing, but as for food, there's banana bread and cookies. It's apparently homemade. This place is really cool! The walls are lined with different memorabilia of gangster movies, music albums, very classic Italian. It's a quiet cafe, the people are very nice, and the prices are very fair. So much to love here -- delicious coffee, tasty treats, and just strange enough to remind you that you're not supporting some faceless corporate chain. The drinks: I don't need fancy coffee so tend to have regular old hot coffee. It's freshly ground and brewed so it's delicious and hot. You can also get iced coffee, tea, lattes, hot chocolate, etc. Food: Banana bread is delicious and the breakfast sandwiches rock. Other standards are oatmeal, muffins, and Nutella toast. Character: Yes, tons. The first time in, you're probably not going to be impressed. Don't panic. The second time, you might be caught off guard when Vito remembers what you ordered last time. On the third visit, he'll probably greet you by name. Go a few more times and you'll get recommendations for the right mechanic or plumber to call, a recipe for meatballs, and introduced to the regulars. And just like that, you're impressed. read more

Well well well, I'm waiting for my car repair down the street. Decided to find coffee. I found this adorable little gem. Wow! First, the rustic wood floor and bar, the tin ceiling, and posters of movies and vintage celebrity on the walls. Great vibe and feel. There are no tables other than the window bar. Then the cappuccino I ordered. Killer taste, good bean, just drank it as is. Berwyn has this little secret and I loved it. I ended up talking with the owner and a customer. It was like we were all old friends. I love this place and I'm glad I walked over here. read more

Caffe Palermo: Home of the most gangster Caffe Nutella you'll ever have. Super cute and super Berwyn... love the vintage, love the miscellany, love the gunshot wound laundry that hangs from a clothesline above the register. Walking up (there's no parking lot so you'll need to park on Ogden or off one of the side streets) I saw a a big sign on the sidewalk amidst a quaint gathering of tiny tables and chairs that read, 'This ain't no Egg McMuffin,' referring to their breakfast sandwiches and paninis that l was unable to partake in on a day with an already full schedule of meetings and events. Inside there are only about 2-3 more of those very tiny tables I saw on their sidewalk outside, but lucky for me, I'd gotten there right when someone cleared out and I was able to quietly work while sipping a perfect and piping hot Caffe Nutella and prepping for my upcoming meeting that was only a half hour away. Quiet, relaxed and hardly any distractions given the limited seating, I found Caffe Palermo to be one of the better 'coffice spaces' I've encountered as of recent. And though it most might take it to be a bit more shabby than chic, CP was just my style and somewhere I look forward to occupying again. read more

I was in the area and was interested in trying out this cafe because I love European coffee. Immediately when I walked in I felt out of place and like I was not welcome inside. The vibes were off and the man behind the counter just kind of stared at me annoyed. The atmosphere is interesting, but the individuals inside made me feel very uncomfortable. However I just ordered my coffee and sat down to do some work. The coffee itself was delicious. I ordered a cappuccino and it was made very well. No complaints there. My complaints are with the owner and worker of the shop. Maybe I came on an off day, but this coffee shop is not welcoming or a comfortable place to do work. I left after 10 minutes of attempting to work and would likely not return unless it was to get coffee and leave. read more

Espresso Blast is where it's at! This ain't the best place but it's a good place. It hard to pass up (I've driven down this part of Ogden before and NEVER noticed this spot!) and parking is off to the side. The barista was a bit indifferent when I came in ( there was one other customer in there at the time) and I wasn't initially sure what to get. I wanted to try the nutella latte but it was hot as ball$ outside. I saw the picture on the back wall advertising an iced espresso beverage that was shaken in a martini shaker. SOLD! I ended up choosing a triple shot with caramel. It was a great iced drink with some awesome froth on the top! I worked for many years in the coffee biz and know it ain't easy getting froth on an iced drink. I really enjoyed my drink and went back two days later for another!!! In the rapidly redeveloping Depot District of Berwyn, hidden away a bit -- look for it across from Anderson Ford. Well worth seeking out! They serve Intelligentsia coffee expertly brewed, perfectly pulled espresso drinks, and handmade Italian pastries. Their hours aren't nearly long enough right now. Hopefully they'll get enough traffic to expand them soon! read more

After moving to Berwyn a few years ago this place has always caught my eye. After looking them up online I fell in love with "Gangster Cafe" their web show. It was wonderful. I was really looking forward to my first trip. I am hoping it was a one of because I really want to like this place. My brother and I stopped in this morning. We were the only ones there. It was just as charming, independent cafe as I saw in the webisodes. there was very minimal interaction with the man behind the counter. we got the feeling that we were annoying him by being there. we got our Mocha's and left. The welcoming atmosphere that I've read about was lacking. I hope he was just having a bad day. We will try Avito Cafe again and hopefully a better experience. read more

Great little coffee shop !! the original owner is back after it being closed for a couple years he opened it back up and I am glad he did so we were at Jewel and I was in need of some Coffee, got up this morning and ran out the door without any so headache was setting in, and the BF says there is a place not far from here so I punch it in the GPS and off we go, well that place was closed today, so I hit up Yelp for another place but use the open now filter and this place came up so off we go again had a little trouble finding it as it is really small and not easy to spot with the tree in front, but we finally did and we got some great coffee I had the Nutella Mocha iced, what a great Idea Nutella and Coffee they just go together oh so well, only problem was it didn't last long enough I couldn't stop drinking it, so I got a Iced Americano to go also just needs some outdoor seating and I would be right at home, that and maybe a few freaks to walk down the street I sure do miss Broadway and watching the people go by read more

This is good solid coffee from a super friendly guy. Don't let the tough Italian exterior fool ya. He'll chat with ya like you were his neighbor. Being in Tacoland there isn't much in the way of coffee except for Dunkin Donuts. I've been here close to 10 times (I have a punch card) and every time I have gotten either a nutella mocha (DAMN GOOD!) or a plain no flavor latte Both drinks meet my snobbish Seattle born coffee loving taste buds. Great place! This beautiful house is a lovely cafe with great food and delicious coffee. My husband had the Turkey and Bacon sandwich it was perfectly cooked and tasty and I had the Caesar Salad Wrap which was super yummy. Caesar Salad can sometimes be dull but this definetely wasn't.
