Mohammed?

So this guy wouldn't rent me a car after my flight was late (I had an Avis reservation) and calls the cops on me. He was mad that I asked him Avis policy questions and then later took his picture but I only did it because he wouldn't tell me his name. Avis needs to fire him Update, spoke to staff at Avis next day and they said his name was Mohammed.

The car rental center is located inside the PDX airport. The lines are horrendous as it seems like there aren't too many employees for each car rental company. Although the lines are awful (just expect long lines), the service was good. I was skeptical of the car that they provided me at first, but I did enjoy using it very much.

OK, it was Thanksgiving day and I read all the reviews that it was going to be a nightmare long lines. Just everything was going to be horrible. We flew in from San Diego. We went up to three flights of stairs. No one was in the line. We got an upgrade. They were very nice once we were done, we dropped off our vehicle and it was that easy. The vehicle did have damage. We took pictures and video of it and that was it. Excellent excellent excellent excellent experience.

Night and day from my last Avis experience!!! ( SLC Airport Avis was a nightmare, avoid at all costs ) PDX Avis was a breeze and the best part was Mohamed, who was not only kind and patient and friendly, he gave me a much needed upgrade to a safer car for the weather, and hiking recommendations from his personal experience. Charges were kept to a minimum! He was human, professional, and a pleasure to interact with. Mohamed I hope you're reading this because I took these photos to share !! Loved everywhere you recommended. Will try the Moroccan place next time

Wait line for Avis on 9/12/24.

Inna was amazing! The customer service was the best I have experienced at a rental car company hands down.

Got here at 12pm waiting for an hour and they don't have enough cars for the still long line behind me. This company fails in all ways.

I should have just gotten my friends and a uhaul to move, but i was promised it would take 5hrs. i was billed 5.5hrs. tip top of the money i had left. and they didn't even have time to move everything. why? because their recklessness with my things i didn't want them carrying my computer monitors. they were hired to pack and move stuff across portland. they came at 1:30 when they said only to tell me that they didn't know they needed all the packing stuff. they eventually arrived nearly 2hrs later and towards the END Of the original window i was promised without any 'hey we will be there at this ETA' they said they got stuck behind a train, which is fine i guess? but no update after that until i called and complained, which got me a 5% discount, which is nice i guess? but like everything that happened after were MASSIVE red flags, both for the computer and the 'movers' which felt like contractors they just hired for whatever without properly vetting. i had a small move, 2 rooms. they were the slowest movers and most reckless movers i've ever hired. but i don't really blame them fully for that. supposedly they were working since 8am and just drove up from salem or something. they didn't even eat lunch. is that even legal?! no wonder they came to the door exhausted already and out of it. These 2 guys did the best they could, but honestly with how exhausted I was from helping them (something i SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO DO), they were doing a good job, but that doesn't really matter. in the end this guy ruined my 2000 custom built standing desk for music. not sure if i can get it repaired or fixed. he undid it and said he will put it back together. it was pretty easy just a few bolts into the joints between the wooden top and the legs and putting on the keyboard tray. easy stuff for the most part (when you have a drill, i don't own one). this guy didn't even look at where he was drilling or understand how the desk was put together after showing him specific things. he just drilled in the bolts and they hit a part that they're supposed to go into but was put in backwards making it impossible (on purpose) to get the screw in. this guy just kept drilling harder and harder and when i asked him about it he was like yeah it's supposed to sound like that. He either was so exhausted he couldn't think straight or just took on tasks he could have said 'yeah i don't know how to do that, can you do it?' either way now i have a broken desk that's only partially built and put together. i am really glad i moved all of my expensive stuff to my place with a friend last weekend, because they definitely would have broken a lot of very expensive things! I also gave them a mattress cover to put on the mattress, and they struggled doing that. You are movers wtf?! i zipped it up about half way and moved on. Then when we got to my new place they didn't even use it and put the mattress on the pavement to get a better angle or something. like what was the point in bringing it?! They also dropped a bunch of precious memories i had in a bin in a bin, they said they took them out because the outer bin couldn't close (bs). They were holding it open wrapped around their arm and i asked them to close it as it doesn't look secure and he said it would be fine, then immediately drops it with pictures and papers dropping on the ground and getting dirty. Anyway this all just happened. and there's no way I can live in my new place due to the lack of time they afforded to me to actually place things in the right spot. At least my bed is in the right spot. luckily for now i am in a short term rental because my last place had mold and why I am moving. i am highly allergic and being there as long as i did, both to wait for them to show up and how slowly they worked on loading the truck, I am feeling sick again because of it. The estimate was low balled to say the least because these guys move at a snails pace because this company overworks them and treats likely their staff like crap. these are probably more desperate people looking for an easy pay day. one guy was like 'i worked 4 days this month' and the other one worked 6 days in a row. a 12 hr day without a break outside of driving (which isn't a break) isn't really fair or legal? I paid nearly 1k for this move, and you can't afford to give these people a proper break between moves? I'm sure they weren't making nearly enough either. Lastly they pressured me to sign a thing at the end of the receipt that says everything was delivered intact, which i didn't sign. Anyway go with another company, not worth the risk. I didn't have another weekend to do this move as i need to have a livable space and that takes time as well. Anyway the movers were careless, slow, expensive, and ignored instructions.

Ryder rents trucks. mostly bigger sized than typical Uhauls…read more prices are fair. if you've never driven a truck before they did a good job of teaching the basics. still pretty hard if you've never driven a truck so make sure to get their insurance!

I reserved a Sprinter Van (cargo van with slightly raised top) on June 25, 2010 to accommodate a…read more57" tall sculpture on August 20, 2010 (2 months prior to event). I received superior customer service on the phone from a very knowledgable and courteous representative. The price was also excellent. I confirmed the van again about 3 weeks prior to the event. Again, I was told by a very nice representative that everything was set and I was "good to go." Because so much was riding on this reservation, I reconfirmed on August 18, 2010. The representative was again lovely and had no difficulty finding my reservation, but admitted that NO TRUCKS OR VANS WERE AVAILABLE for my RESERVATION! I asked how that could be, since I had spoken with them twice before. I was told that sometimes people don't return their vehicles on time and that was the case in my circumstance. She told me that there was a possibility that there was a 26' truck with hydraulic lift that MIGHT be available! I told them that it was absolutely necessary that they find me a reasonable sized vehicle (try parking a 26' truck in downtown Portland!) to the one that I had RESERVED 2 months prior and confirmed 3 WEEKS prior and that I would be waiting by the phone for their call. An hour or so later, they called to say that a trucking agency across town, McCoy Freightliner, might be able to help me. When I called the trucking agency, I determined that unlike Ryder, I would have to provide my own truck insurance on their commercial vehicle.....my insurance agent dropped everything to help, but was unable to provide me with that type of coverage. I called Ryder back and explained again that they needed to find me a truck; the representative said she could try to call Penske......Again, I said that I would wait for her call. This time, I began a search of my own and found a small 10' U-Haul truck on the NE side of Portland for a comparable price. An hour later, I called Ryder back; they had not called me. The agent was AGAIN extremely nice, but said that Penske did not have any trucks. I told her that I had found a U-Haul truck. I told her that her agency had always been extremely nice on the phone but that no amount of niceness made up for leaving a customer with a reservation high and dry. I told her that I apparently would have shown up at 7:00 am on August 20, 2010 and would have had no transportation for my event. She was apologetic, but agreed that that was what would have happened. I told her that there needs to be a policy and procedure in place to check reservations in advance and call clients immediately with as much notice as possible to avoid this type of thing. Again, she apologized but said this happens because people do not return vehicles on time. Then she said that she may possibly have located a vehicle in a maintenance shed that MIGHT be available if it was fixed in time, and did I want to reserve it? I told her that a reservation did not mean anything at their company and that I would keep my UHaul reservation. This was a nightmare. DO NOT RESERVE AND RENT with the is company. They are nice, but completely unreliable.
