Parked in the lot in a rather ordinary parking space and went inside to buy some moving supplies. A woman helps me with my purchase while a guy behind the counter asks if it's my truck in the lot. I answer yes. "You can't park there" he says. There was no indication I could park there, no sign reading "No Parking". He explains how there is no off street parking for customers. There isn't any on street parking either, but that's another problem altogether. "Oh, it doesn't matter." He says, to which I reply "Then why did you say anything?" "Some people", he replies. I won't be coming here again if the people behind the counter are rude to other people, especially those they aren't even helping." I could have just purchased the moving supplies I needed and left because the woman was helping me, but this guy talked over her and interrupted the transaction. Want good customer service? Don't stop here. This location is convenient to our home and offers propane refill service, which I've taken advantage of multiple times. Rolled in today with my empty tank, and rang the bell at the propane station for service. Watched 2 employees scurry around for about 5 minutes, but never acknowledge me. Rang the service bell again and finally caught the eye of a 3rd employee. He told me he's not certified to do propane refills but would go get me someone who can. Then he looked at his phone and said, "Oh, we stop doing propane at 4pm on Sundays. Can't do it." I looked at my phone and noted the time. I'm couldn't believe it... 4:00 ON THE NOSE. So I told him "Hey, I've been here waiting over 5 minutes and rang the service bell twice. So I was here before 4pm, meaning you should fill my tank." He said he'd go find someone and ask, but soon returned and said he couldn't find the one guy certified to fill propane tanks and everyone else said it was after 4pm so it was too late anyway. (Note: this location closes at 5pm on Sundays - but NO indication online that they stop propane service any earlier.) I left disgusted and pretty sure going forward I'll find plenty of other places open and willing to fill my propane tanks - as well as rent me a truck or van, something I've done several times for personal and business use at this particular location. So I say this to my local Uhaul center: I hope that strictly following your rules instead of being led by reasonable customer service guidelines serves you well going forward. The truck was clean & worked just fine. The app check in (before they opened) was frustrating to try and navigate - for the first time - while getting drenched in the rain. My fingers were cold, the app kept saying there was no network (I absolutely was complaining out loud) & then after 10 minutes or so I am looking for a lock box and find an employee smoking outside. I get that it was before your shift started so he's not obligated to help me BUT - this was the same dude who acted like a jerk when I brought the truck back. So, everything I've ever rented, you bring it back full of gas right - or you get charged astronomical amounts for inconvenience. I did this & was shocked when the gas attendant told me 37$!! What?? I drove like 11 miles!! 9 gallons. When I bring it back of course I say something. This same guy basically talking to me like this is my first rental ever (insert hard eye roll) telling me how you're not supposed to over fill & blah blah FIRST OF ALL - it's Oregon I didn't pump the gas jerk. Secondly nobody ever said don't fill the tank. He tried saying I should've watched the needle AS IF the gas station attendant was ONLY helping me.. REALLY. He told me I should call corporate, gee thanks for your help. My 5 star review is very specific to Trask, super nice dude. He was pleasant, kind and understanding. His interaction with me was what customer service SHOULD be. He wasn't condescending in the least. He credited me back for the outrageous amount of gas I put in, and sent me on my way by helping me with the app check out. Appreciation. The other guy ? Pshhh nah. Didn't even bother to move his ass off his chair when I came in and talk to me like I was a CUSTOMER. Nice work bro. read more

I've never had to rent a truck here, but this location is very convenient for propane tank refills and for buying packing and moving supplies. The employees have always been friendly and efficient for propane fills, checking and photographing the date stamped on the tank, making sure it can still be legally refilled. My only issue with this location is one that I completely understand, but it makes propane fills somewhat more difficult. They no longer have customer parking available on the lot. Customers need to park on the street, wherever available, and carry the tank back and forth, with this, obviously being a bit more difficult on the return trip when the tank is full. The lot has virtually every square foot marked off for rental truck parking, or lanes for access to get trucks in and out. So, it makes perfect sense that they simply do not have room for propane and moving supply customer vehicles to be randomly coming and going. read more

I needed a one-way moving truck rental, and not being aware of any alternative, went with U-haul. U-Haul has the option to do a self check-in via your phone and their app, so I decided to try that method. Let's just say the self check-in system needs some work. When I arrived to pick up my truck, it was blocked by another vehicle and the other items I reserved (a hand truck and moving blankets) were not already in the truck. While I was waiting for the U-haul app to verify my identity (which took 20 minutes) I was helped by one of two employees on site (thank goodness I hadn't scheduled my pick-up before or after-hours!) They moved the truck that was blocking the one I had reserved, obtained the hand truck and the blankets, and were very helpful and friendly. I still had to go into the office twice to get everything I had reserved. The helpfulness of the employees I dealt with is the only reason this review has three stars instead of two! The truck was clean and worked well. When it was time to return the truck, I was in the middle of working with the app to self return when the employee came over and took over the process. It was very quick, and the employee was courteous, but the app was completely circumvented and irrelevant. The whole rental process had no major disasters or delays, and the equipment worked as expected. But I would not bother using the self check-in at the present time. read more

On November 3rd, 2021 I made an appointment to have a trailer hitch installed on my car. I paid, in advance, $350 for an appointment on November 11. I showed up at my appointment time and they said "Oh, that car!" And told me they were unable to get the part and we need to reschedule for next week like it was no big deal. I had to step outside to get a grip before I lost it. I was supposed to go on a trip today, pulling my trailer and now can't go. I realize things happen. But these assholes let me waste my time coming down there to tell me they couldn't help me. The customer service is horrendous at uhaul, always has been, and this is the last straw. I will NEVER give them a penny of my money and unless you like this type of treatment, you won't either. read more

I made an appointment for a hitch installation at 9:30am. I even called the day before to confirm said appointment. I show up and Sean Clark (manager) at the front desk told me the person installing the hitch isn't in yet and he has a tendency to show up late. Sean tells me to maybe come back at about 10:45am and I do but guess what? They still haven't started the installation yet! Then I get told that the appointment was scheduled at 10:30am. I had no choice but to wait since today is my only day off during a weekday that I could schedule the installation since they don't offer it on the weekends. They didn't finish until 1pm. Never once was I given an update or an apology for the long wait. If they had told me about the unexpected longer wait I would have arranged to pick it up at a later time. Use any other location other than this one. Avoid like the plague! read more

Ordered plastic moving containers which I picked up in person 3 days before my move. Filled them, moved them, emptied them, and dropped them back off within the time frame I was allowed to have them. When I dropped them off I asked the employee there if I need to talk to anyone or sign anything and he said "nope, you're good." So I dropped them off and left. Almost SIX WEEKS LATER. I get hit with a $213 charge on what was originally a $24 order saying that I didn't return the moving containers and I was being charged for them to be replaced. Called their store. Couldn't reach them. Got forwarded to corporate customer service which then forwarded me back to the store. Got an employee on the line and explained to him what happened. He told me he couldn't fix the charge without his manager. Told me to call back tomorrow before close. Called back the next day. No one answered the phone. Forwarded to customer support again. Filed a formal complaint with a complaint number. Customer support couldn't reach the store either. Was told that if it isn't resolved in three days that it would get escalated but I should call the store to try and resolve if sooner if I didn't get a called. I have now called the store 10 times within the last two days to speak to the manager. No response. This was a $213 to replace boxes THAT I RETURNED. Do not use this location. Go literally anywhere else. Management is incompetent and irresponsible and you will end getting hit with bullshit charges over made up issues because no one who works there gives a damn. read more

I had to pick up some boxes and my guy was hanging out in the car waiting for me to bring it out. The cashier inside the store was on the phone so of course, I waited patiently. While I was inside, an employee who is most likely responsible for moving the Uhaul trucks or what not very rudely approached my guy and asked, "can I help you?" He replied "we're here picking up some stuff." To which the employee responded with "move to the street" and scoffed away. my guy obliged, moved to park on the street. We had to turn the car around to get back onto Powell and this D-Bag has the audacity to walk up with safety cones to ensure we are unable to even attempt to use the driveway or lot to turn around. Terrible customer service, terrible customer experience. If you want to give Uhaul your business, I recommend the foster blvd location or the 82nd Clackamas location. Uhaul on Powell.. horrible. Although uhaul is a big company and you can't expect them for perfection as many big businesses can't control every employee, I used them very often and they always had what I needed to complete my task(moving a couch to a whole apartment). I have used u-haul many times but the reason I'm writing this review today is because of my last experience with the company. I had moved from Oregon to California and needed a big enough trailer to be able to take all my furniture and even two dirt bikes! After researching the internet for 2 weeks and stressing myself over finding a big enough trailer, my conclusion was u-haul is the only company that rents an enclosed 12ft trailer and let's you move it from one state to the other without making you spend a lot of money on shipping it back(again we are talking on a 12 foot trailer). Thank you Uhaul for the opportunity! I'll definitely be using you for many years and I hope you'll keep on improving your service cuz waiting times are often very long as the renting process takes a long time and there's usually only 1-2 employees and 5-8 customers! read more

Really horrible experience at this U-Haul. Used a pickup truck to do a 15 mile route to pick up some furniture and when we delivered it back to the u-haul they claimed we drove 35 miles and charged $25 more than the quoted price. This doesn't make any sense as I had filled the gas tank back to half full after putting in $5 or about 1 gallon which the pickup itself said gets 15 mpg which would have you think we went about 15 miles give or take a mile. When we talked with their staff, Andrew, they were very rude said he didn't "trust" our route when he was the one who originally quoted us after explaining the route we were taking initially. Even after explaining how we only put 1 gallon of gas to fill it back to half full and we didn't understand how that could add up to 35 miles he told us we were "the only ones to complain about mileage in the last week" and told us to "go to corporate if we had a problem." I will never be coming back to this location due to overcharging and rude customer service and recommend anyone else to pick any other u-haul location as we've never had an issue at other locations. Arrgh! Got a pickup which they said was full. Needle pointed almost to the F, but after 35 miles it took 5-1/2 gallons of gas. Clearly was not full. Customer service at the location refused to consider crediting me anything even though it was clear it was less than a full tank when I left. Your self check out system SUCKS! Set up reservation, confirmed twice online and once IN PERSON at the location that they had the reservation and the truck would be ready AND accessible (because I tried this before and it was blocked in) and at 7:30 AM on Sunday the reservation then showed to be picked up at 9 when the location opened. Called, left on hold 10 minutes, customer service said they spoke with a manager who said his employee would be there at 8:15. (35 minutes later) By 8:35 there was still no employee. At 8:45 employee was there and wouldn't even come to the door but instead just shrugged and said he couldn't help me until 9. After repeated pounding on the door the employee finally came and begrudgingly reloaded the reservation in his system so an email sent that allowed me to start the pick up process. God forbid they could've helped me physically to check out the truck rather than make me go through the laborious, multi-step process of validating my reservation via multiple photos, phone calls to other people to verify my identity (all which they could have done in the 5 days since making the reservation) and then struggle with the poorly designed lockbox after I've been standing out in the 32° weather for over an hour. Rented a truck to move some stuff and go to the dump. Got a call and had a family emergency so was up through out the night. I figured if I kept it a extra day it would simply be double the cost. I got a message for Justin that there a late fee and need to be return immediately. So I immediately call and apologize and try to explain what happened. (Also was not trying to get anything for free) my call was answered after being on wait for almost 10 minutes. It was answered by a lady named terry. She went on in a very rude tone explaining how this was impacting her job and other customers. She was very rude and did not talk in a customer service manner at all. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this store. If a person can be like this over the phone I just wonder how she could be infront of your face. Uhaul step you game up! read more

THE GOOD: ----------------- (1) Customer service is excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable, professional. (2) At pickup the place wasn't busy and the paperwork was quick. THE NOT-SO-GOOD: ---------------------------- (3) When returning the U-Haul it was CRAZY busy there, barely able to fit the truck on their lot behind the long line of returning trucks, long lines in the store, no one up front because they were taking care of helping people in the back, etc. If I had been there to sign-up instead of to return the truck I would likely have not been satisfied with the number of people serving customers at the time. (4) When doing the refilling at the end they added 7 gallons to the 4-5 gallons I had already put in. Based on where the fuel meter gauge was and their gas meter chart they added roughly 1 gallon more than required. I suspect this is from not letting the fuel gauge settle and not subterfuge, either way expect to pay an extra $4.50+ gas on top of expected expenses. $4.50 out of a $150ish expense is not the end of the world, but it is a little annoying :). FYI ----- (5) The 15' truck got only 8.3 mpg or so (83 miles / 10 gallons), possibly a little less, despite mostly highway driving at roughly 50 mph. Depending on who you talk to I should have expected 10-12 mpg hwy or more for this truck. Just plan for another 40 cents per mile at $3.30 per gallon for gas on top of the usual mileage rate (if you are refueling yourself). read more

I've used this particular Uhaul multiple times and while the service seems friendly enough, they will scam you. This last time in particular I took pictures of where the gas gauge was and filled it back to the exact spot. They charged me an additional $26 for gas, saying it wasn't filled back to exact reading on the gauge. I called to ask them about it and they're saying it's nearly half a tank lower than I put in which is simply not true. I already knew this company will pile on charges so you're never really getting the vehicle for what it's advertised for, but in this particular case they're extra scammy. read more

Ordered moving boxes online for same day delivery. They sent one box of dozens of about a $375.00 order. That $19.00 box cost $18.00 to deliver. Even though the entire purchase was on one order number they claim the rest of the shipment was ordered on 3-5 business days and would not change anything. Before we go any further, let's deal with the elephant in the room: it will not cost you $19.95 to rent anything from U-Haul. Ever. I rented a 12' truck for 3 hours and drove it a little over twenty miles. I've been charged over $80 for that at the time of writing. I'm not terribly surprised by the amount, but since the invoice I was promised would be in my inbox this morning never materialized, I have to assume that the myriad additional fees U-Haul had already added to my $19.95 have since been further padded by charges for things like wear and tear on the door I opened to enter the store or a fee for the carbon dioxide I exhaled while in their truck, thereby undermining their commitment to the environment. Anyway... The process for renting the truck online was easy enough, and I was only at the location for about five minutes before I was on my way, so I will give credit for speed and efficiency, but - and it's a but Sir Mix-A-Lot would appreciate - I had never driven a truck of any kind before yesterday. Dude takes my deposit and just hands me the keys to a vehicle that handles likes a pile of bricks on a skateboard, just lets me loose onto Powell on a Saturday night. Also, the front right blinker didn't work. The other stuff I can take with a pinch of salt, but it's not cool to rent somebody a vehicle that could get them pulled over or cause an accident. If the person who pronounces the vehicles at this location roadworthy can miss a basic pre-trip check like that, what else could they miss? It's a point I'd consider before handing over your money. I didn't kill anybody or get pulled over, and the move I used the truck for was successful, but I wasn't given any direction for returning the thing, either, and arrived at the location after hours to find it deserted and in darkness. The entrance was blocked with other rentals, so I drove in via the exit, parked the truck in a spot that didn't look too random, and - after a couple of minutes - found the key drop and headed back to the familiarity of my Accord, in which I at least know where to find the switch for the hazards. read more
