Booked rental from Denver to Austin. They tried to give me a sedan, then charged for an upgrade because they didn't have the midsize SUV I reserved. Then, I get in the car and it's only 3/4 full, the windshield is cracked, and there was something in the car like cat hair making me itch the entire drive from Colorado to Texas. So awful. I requested a small car but they insisted on giving me a big car that I'm not used to driving because they don't have any cars the size I requested at the time I was scheduled for pickup. The owner is really pushy on adding things on to your order I went to the gas station and filled it up all the way (when the pump stop by itself) but the meter doesn't go all the way up to full. I told the owner about it. He said he will charge me more. So I went to the gas station again and tried to fill it up all the way until the pump stops by itself. I did it TWICE with receipts to prove I did. The meter still says a little under full. He charged me the price of rental for another day. This is straight up a scam. read more

I rent from Avis atleast 1-2 times a year. This location by far has the WORST customer service of all of them. If you need a rental go to the 1900 broadway location avoid this one at all costs. I can guarantee I will never be back nor will I be recommending this location to anyone ever in the future. Rude, impatient, get better service at McDonald's. Been seeing a lot of negative reviews here and I can't seem to find why. Me and my girlfriend recently traveled to Colorado (9/18-9/22) and had no luck finding rentals to travel to boulder. Just when we had given up hope I got in contact with this place and the manager Hazim. He immediately said he would make sure he'd hold a car for us and to head right over (COMPLETE LIFE SAVER) once we arrived we had explained to him our flight was leaving late in the day so we couldn't return the car in the morning while carrying all our luggage around Denver. He immediately said "Don't worry return the car whenever you can" it gave us such reassurance that he was trust worthy and confident in his customer care. Gave us the right car and exactly what we were looking for and we were so happy with how everything turned out on the car that we are now currently looking for the exact same car back home! All in all I get it maybe there's some dirt from previous drivers before or maybe it's not the luxurious experience you were expecting but it's a rental car y'all there's no reason to go above and beyond for something expensive when you can just have just as nice hospitality without paying a lot of money. If you're looking for something just to get you by and to have it at a cheap price go to Hazim he seriously was the best and Hazim if you see this thank you my friend for taking care of us. read more

Horrible experience. We booked for a 3 day booking and pick up was 10am. Due to flight delays and logistic issues to get to the Avis we could not meet that time. We called ahead and we're told our pick up time of 3pm would be no issue with no extra charge. We show up at 3 and are told our $150 reservation was now $450. No reasoning, just it is what it is because the rates have changed. No effort to find a solution. No effort to understand the problem. It was a joke and cost us 3 hours of our time. I was happy with most of the service. However, I was upset that they sent me a coupon for an upgrade on my next rental that I was not allowed to use. I rented a SUV for this summer and when I called, they said they'd move me to a smaller car...when I said that I needed a SUV or bigger, they told me they couldn't help me. THAT is poor customer service. It's the small things that matter in a business. I may be taking my business elsewhere in the future. read more

This was, hands down, the WORST service and experience I've EVER had renting a car to the point that I walked out of there with no rental and went to another Avis where the manager, Joe, was beyond friendly. And you know it's bad when I tell him about what happened and he knew exactly which location and who the person was that I dealt with (which I did not tell him). I've rented with Avis several times and do so because they accept debit cards. I've never had a problem. I walk in and the guy behind the counter asked for my license and credit card. When I handed him my debit card, he tossed it at me snapped, "We don't take those!" I asked since when because I've rented with Avis before and never had a problem. Then he snaps, "show me your address. I need something else that has your address. Do you have your passport? A bank statement? Xcel bill??" I did not because I don't just carry that with me. I finally pull up an e-statement through my bank and he scoffs and turns to his computer. The he says all he has is a Highlander (which is NOT what I reserved. It should have been an elite SUV). At this point I'm not going to argue because I'm getting a great deal still and need a car within the next hour. Then he runs my card and snaps, "See, it's not working. It's won't work. Give me another card." I know the card works. I've used it twice already. I ask him to try again and he said he can try over and over and it still won't work. I walked out of there with no rental car, no apology for how excessively and unnecessarily rude he was...nothing. I did go to another Avis and had ZERO problems! The manager there, like I said, knew EXACTLY where I went and who I dealt with then I walked in and asked if they still take debit cards and that I hope this is a better experience. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES outside of an apocalypse would I recommend renting from this location. read more
