Rented a car for 4 days car had issues they offered no help and everything they offered would have cost me 600-1400 and left me stranded for days with my wife having cancer and an appointment to get to. Two takeaways from renting a car here is to have super low expectations and know what's already covered. I stress the second tip because the guy tried to charge me for having a second driver when my Hertz status said it was complimentary. Then he tried to sell me on accident coverage, but I told him the credit card I was using covered me for that, too. The rep will try to get you to spend more than necessary so advocate for yourself. Anyway, they didn't have the car I reserved (SUV EV), so I was put in a "brand new" 2023 Nissan Rogue (gas) that sounded louder than a U-Haul. That car sucked. The exterior was dirty so it was tricky to spot damages while we were doing a walk-around with the Hertz rep. The tires were at the end of their life and practically bald. Even on a dry, straight road, the car felt like it was fishtailing. Taking turn was worse as you'd lose all traction. The gas pedal was finicky and only knew 2 speeds no matter how hard/light you pressed on it: creep and floor it to hell. I didn't feel safe driving that car, but I was stuck with it until Monday when other locations would be open and I could see about swapping that shit box for the car I reserved. When Monday came, I called the location I rented from and told them all about my issues with the car. The best they could do was call around to see if other locations had the car I wanted, have someone grab the car, and bring it to Arvada where I could pick it up. I could easily do that myself, minus driving 45mins to their location when there were others much closer I could do the swap at. At the end of the day, I got the car I originally reserved. Upon returning it, it seemed like I wasn't the only person with car issues at this location. Another customer was complaining about the same thing: fishtailing on dry, straight roads and mentioned how bad the car is and all this other stuff. He ended up saying that the guy was trying to screw him over. He was pissed and rightfully so. I was glad to return the car and I don't plan on renting from this location again if I can help it. I flew in to Denver today to move my things back to LA and they required a credit card. They would not let me use my friends, so I was refuse service beyond that they did not have the partial payment I had already paid on the reservation through orbitz. Legitimately one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. We made a reservation for a car, took an Uber there to pick it up, and when we arrived they told us they didn't have the car. After we called to get a ride home, someone coincidentally returned a similar car. They told us we could take that car for $35 more a day which we regrettably accepted. After driving the car for less than thirty minutes, we noticed a service engine light so we decided to return the car. We were told that this is normal and that we should drive this car with the service engine light on. When we declined and said we just wanted to return it, they charged us for a full day even though we had the car for less than an hour and put around 5 miles on it. Asked if there was any way they could help us out and the manager said there was nothing he could do. Hertz definitely lost a customer for life. read more

Guy working called 30 minutes after opening to let us know they didn't have vehicles which I understand because I worked at enterprise (I know the struggle lol). I was already on the way there taking a 45 minute Uber and couldn't turn around so when I get there, we ask for help on finding an a viable vehicle and he said he couldn't help. No apology. Asked for a refund on Uber and he said they don't do that. Didn't bother to help with anything and avoided us the rest of the time. Wouldn't recommend this place if you're carrying 50 pound luggage with nowhere else to go :D will not ever try to rent from Hertz again and would not recommend this trash location. Guy with the Hawaiian shirt on up front was very nice and apologized for the inconvenience - he was a lot more help and had no idea the situation so one star for him and him only. read more

I had a great experience here. After the 2 hail storms in 1 month this summer, there was not a rental car to be found in the whole state. Stacy from the Colfax Location had me call Mike over at this location, and sure enough they had a car for me! Had a reservation for a vehicle to be picked up Saturday, 9/19. Was called the night prior and told there were no vehicles available for our pickup, and that we would be put at the top of the waitlist. Call the next morning and are told our spot on the waitlist was given to someone else, so we're second and they would call us. We call corporate, they can't help us. We don't receive a callback and then 12pm rolls around, and the office is closed until Monday morning. No one calls us to figure out solutions, or to apologize, or literally anything. They looked at our reservation, ignored it, and went home for the weekend. We were stranded in Denver for an extra day before finding a last minute rental with another company. Called to let them know I would be dropping my car off at the shop in two days and without even asking for my confirmation number was told they would not have any cars available. My partner's car was totaled, and she was injured. Our insurance approved a rental until 1.27.22. Hertz called a couple of days later indicated it was approved until 2.11.21. The language did not indicate this was with a request to the insurance. This morning my partner received an email threatening repossession and a potential warrant issue. After she responded for more information, the reply was that she had refused, and repossession was being pursued. We both left work to address immediately with the return location. They were helpful with formally extending. After this Nikisha.Thompson@hertz.com began sending text in all caps telling her repossession was imitated with law enforcement involvement. I have rented a lot of cars over the past 40 years and this Hertz location is by far the worst I have ever experienced. I called them 2 or 3 weeks ago to follow up on a reservation made by State farm, told them the vehicle i required and what State Farm would pay for yet when I arrived they only had small cars (I requested a full sized SUV). This location happened to be the closest to the body shop where my vehicle was to be repaired. Not only was the vehicle requested not there but their facility is filthy. It had not seen a good clean in a while. Unfortunately, the dirt in the facility matched the condition of the rental, filthy. The car had not been washed nor interior cleaned in some time. It was coated with grime. Honestly, I have never had a worse experience from top to bottom EVER! They indicated they would 'try' to find an SUV for me yet when I called for the manager after leaving the call was never returned. I am trying to lodge a complaint with Hertz corporate but of course there isn't a number to call, at least one easily available. DON'T EVER EVEN CONSIDER RENTING FROM THESE JOKERS! read more

Rented a car from here and was charged $17 in gas charges because the gauge per staff was not exactly on the line 3/4 tank line when I returned it... they state it is at 5/8th in the photo. I guess I needed to get out of my car and fill it up with $2 in gas to avoid these charges which is ridiculous. Not satisfied and no one would assist with reconciling these charges for me. read more

The exterior of the car was filthy. Despite the fact that there was obvious damage on the front end of the car, the agent represented that it was not a problem. Several hours into our trip out of state, the car began to vibrate badly. We were concerned for our safety so we called the agency to find out if we could get a replacement car somewhere along our route. They did not think it possible since they were a "franchise" and had no information on other franchises who "didn't have the software". They were going to try to find some numbers to call, but I lost cell service. When I tried to call back, they were closed. They made no effort to contact me via email. I contacted State Farm who were able to provide me some contacts in a city on our route. But before making an exchange, we discovered that the under-engine shield had cracked in the area of the prior damage. Wild vibration of this piece was causing the vibration. We were able to stabilize it with duct tape, and the vibration went away. Extremely disappointed with the agency's lack of follow up with us when they knew we were having problems, and their failure to adequately check a car with obvious damage before releasing. read more

Honestly one of the most shady experiences I've ever had with a large company . We were charged $400 for a smoking fine when we didn't smoke during the entire trip. The manager comes out to check the car upon the return and immediately went under the front driver seat to remove ashes that she says wasn't there before . She didn't look not an inch further at the car after finding the ashes . This is all on top of the car being given to us dirty and the manager being absolutely no help from the beginning. Be warned when using HERTZ in the future. This is a struggling company looking for any way to screw its customers out of some money. read more

Picked up a rental car here as my car was being repaired after a fender bender. The insurance company of the car who hit me had organized the rental and were paying for the car but the Hertz sales person neglected to tell me they were billing me for the insurance cover - I only found out a month later when my credit card statement arrived. I would also add: Hertz you need to up your game. I've rented cars in third-world countries with better appointed offices. This location is not a good advertisement for your brand. read more

Horrible customer service! Go somewhere else. Car wasn't ready for my pick up time still dirty inside and out. The radio and screen didn't work for my long drive. When I went to return their key box is broken and tells you to drive all the way to Thornton never told me this when I first got the car. Hours were incorrect on sheet so couldn't get keys to them and they charged late fees because they can't fix their box. The manager was not reasonavle and kept threatening me that more charges would come. I feel bad for how incompetent they are at this hertz and hope they get some help from corporate. For example, I wanted a CD player; we physically visited each of the different car options to find one. I missed a very important work meeting as a result Secondly, they gave us a Chevy Equinox with a broken gas gauge twice causing me A 25 YEAR OLD FEMALE to have to hitch hike across states to get gas. The negative reviews on here do not reflect my experience. I reserved a car online for pickup the next morning and the car was ready when I arrived. The return was painless, and after I'd handed over the key the attendant reminded me that I needed to fill up the tank (which I'd forgotten). She handed back the key so I could take care of that rather than charging me an obscene fee for them to fill it. The location is a dump and it's small, but so what? I returned the vehicle on a Sunday, which they are closed, left the key in the lockbox with a filled out form with the return time and date (was even an hour early returning it), and they put in that I returned the car Monday morning. Which cost me another $50, called in and they said they made a mistake and I had to wait 4 to 5 weeks to get a refund. Do not EVER use this Hertz location, the lone staff member is always out of the office running errands. The several time we have picked up or dropped a car here the office has been locked when we arrived and it was often 20-30 minutes before the staff returned. First time I have ever felt the need to post a review. I intended to rent a car for 2 weeks. I reserved via Travelocity at this location for 10am on a Wednesday. Wednesday at 9am they called me to let me know that there are no cars available. They suggested I call other locations in the area to see if they had cars. They did not. I asked if they would have any cars in the afternoon, they did not know. They had no idea when they would ever have cars. OK.....so then I made another reservation for later in the afternoon since I was not going to pay an extra day for a car that I never received. This time, I said I would drop off at the airport. They said I could not do that. They literally said, "If we have a car, we can't give it to you because it will go to the airport Hertz and we will never see the car again". And that is my problem how? I agreed to bring it back to the same location...Well it's now Friday (two days later) and I never received a call from them...thankfully I had no desire to give them business so I booked a car directly from the Hertz at the airport and had the best, efficient experience with that location. No issues whatsoever. This Arvada location should be shut down. read more

I was extremely impressed with Hertz. I called on a Saturday afternoon about 20 minutes before they closed. I explained that my car had been towed and that I desperately needed a rental vehicle. The guy on the phone said that it may be difficult since they closed soon, but that he would do whatever he could to help. Him and another employee ended up staying past closing time, and even bringing a car to my apartment since I had no other way of transportation. The guys were very nice and the process was quick.
