I specifically rented a truck and called the night before and let the agent now I could possibly be late but I would be there as soon as I could. She did not mention that the policy is if you are late they can give away your reserved vehicle or charge you late fee. They said they tried to call me but I do not see any messages from their number or a voicemail being left. It is a Friday and now they don't know if they can locate a truck. I went to rent a vehicle for my family while our car was in for repairs. The first two cars were broken with check engine lights and the 2nd had a broken mirror that was hanging off the side of the car. The 3rd car was usable but filthy. Ice cream or some sticky goo in the 3rd row. After taking it home I cleaned out the entire interior and went about my day. After returning the car a few days later we were hit with a damage report about pet hair, though we had not had our dog in the car with us. It was $125. read more

And from what I can piece together, he owns this location as a franchisee-operator. I have NEVER experienced such rude behavior. Was trying to help a friend who literally just landed in the US and is trying to establish himself as a local resident. There was a problem with his rental and the initial discussion he had with these folks confused him. He left without a car. I went back with him to try to resolve the issue, pay any balance, and get things taken care of. Instead, Tim yelled at us, told us he would not rent a car, and to leave. *False Smoke Smell Charge* I have used the Avis rental service more than 10 times with a company discount. However, this recent experience has left me extremely frustrated. I am a non-smoker and reported an erroneous charge and emailed them about the mistake, but their support has not responded to my request. There's a pending $250.00 credit transaction that I have not been able to resolve. This is very disappointing, and I want to caution others when dealing with Avis rental. I received a Smoke Smell Bill on Jul 29 and immediately contacted customer service to request all inspection reports. However, the report indicated that the smell was from another customer, not from my rental. Despite this, customer support did not follow up on my findings and still charged me $250.00. I was also charged an additional service fee because the staff failed to check the drop-off box. I returned the car at 21:41, before the expected drop-off time. I have never had such an unprofessional, stressful, and frankly deplorable rental experience. I booked through Costco and thought we were getting a great deal, but I learned the hard way that you get what you pay for. On Sunday 6/25 and Monday 7/3, I witnessed an employee whose name I believe to be Timothy based on my rental paperwork yell at several Asian renters who were not native English speakers. These people simply had questions about their rentals and additional charges being levied. The cultural insensitivity he displayed was horrible to witness and made me incredibly uncomfortable. The car we received was not the type of car we reserved, but that was the least of our concerns. It was dirty inside and out, but we didn't want to talk the employee about it given what we witnessed happen to other people with questions and concerns. We also received the car with 7/8 tank but the paperwork this employee provided us at the outset of the rental stated that the tank was full. We read the recent reviews of people being charged for not returning cars with a full tank of gas (even when they didn't receive the car with a full tank) and decided to just fill the car all the way to avoid an altercation with him upon return. When we got to the return desk, we realized we had not taken a picture of our fuel indicator; we wanted this as proof in the event that we were accused of not filling the car. This same employee did not want us to go back to the car to take a photo of the fuel gauge, and only agreed to give the key back for this purpose when my boyfriend insisted. He was then incredibly rude when we brought the key back after taking the photo. I could go on and on, but I will leave it at this: heed the one star reviews that mention shady behavior and the aggressive employee - they are 100% accurate. As someone in the service industry myself, I am *floored* that any employee is allowed to act this way and retain a job. I witnessed his bad behavior on two separate days, indicating that these are not isolated incidents. Customer service has been contacted and I hope that something is done. Solely based on this experience, I will never rent from this location or Avis again. read more

I asked about an extra charge on my final bill, and he said I was "yelling" and that he wouldn't talk to me anymore. For the record, I was annoyed because of the extra charge, yes, but I never raised my voice more than deadpan talking volume. My car was also not cleaned before I picked it up. I had to throw away the trash left by the previous renter myself, and there were dirt stains on the dash. We heard these fictions, repeatedly, in the Bellevue, WA office and they were a harbinger of the dreadful service both they and Avis Customer Service provided. I heard them repeatedly in my six calls to customer service, who, according to the Bellevue office, would fix the problem the Bellevue office caused. My reservation at the Bellevue WA office had been made in my wife's name using a credit card in my name. There was no problem making the reservation, but when we picked up the car, the Bellevue office insisted that the reservation had to be remade in my name, because the name on the rental had to match the name on the credit card! Naturally, they told me that they couldn't do anything about crediting my wizard (frequent renter) points for that rental, but, you guessed it! I should call Customer Service, and they would arrange for me to get those points! Naturally, Customer Service told me they couldn't do anything. The car we got was dirty and had trash from two months earlier. The people in the office were rude and brusque, and were clearly annoyed when I asked for the customer service number. I guess I should have known it already! We rented for the entire months of July and August 2023, which our contract showed, but the rental agreement showed the return date as August 30. Apparently someone in the Bellevue office thinks that August has only 30 days. As a result, when we returned the car, the clerk overcharged us by adding an additional day's rental, and only backed down when we showed her the contract. If you want to rent from liars and incompetents, Avis is your company. If you want decent customer service and decent treatment, go somewhere else. read more

I rented a car for three weeks while mine was in the shop. The car did not have any windshield wiper fluid, and air in all of the tires were low. I went ahead and spent an hour getting it filled after work one day to ensure that the car was well cared for, and I let the rental place know of both items upon return as one tire was consistently lower than the rest even after getting it filled. Three weeks later I got a notice by mail that I was being charged $125 for animal hair in the car. No other information was provided. I upset about being charged this $125 cleaning fee considering that there were no animals in the car, and I kept the car clean while renting it. As you may see on my page I have another review that detailed a horrible experience with Enterprise. In upon scrambling to finding a solution, I found one with this location at Avis. I think I have rented once from here a few years ago, but primarily have stuck with Enterprise. Anyway, in my plight, Avis had plenty of cars, cars ready for immediate pickup. After arriving in 10 minutes, the checkout process was fast and non eventful. They gave me a new car that still had the new smell. After finding out the car, I was bracing myself for the price. No sticker shock, competitive pricing honestly a couple of dollars cheaper. The lady manager was nice, very helpful and was empathetic to my situation. Dropping it off was simple. Great experience, great customer service. All my car rentals while in Bellevue will be with this location. read more

I had a poor experience at the AVIS car rental 8/13th. Poor customer service. I had reserved a car weeks prior. The agent assisting me could not run my BECU(credit union) Mastercard. It seems the company shums debit cards? Talk about a total waster of 45 minutes. YES. Thats how long we tried. I was told they couldnt help me. My truck suddenly broke down as I was driving on 116th Ave NE; I pulled into Avis to avoid breaking down in the middle of the busy road. Jerry Lee from Avis helped try and jumpstart the truck, and he helped me push it in neutral to a safer location after the jumpstart failed. He then provided a water and was very reassuring about the whole situation. My truck will now be in the shop, and I now know where I will be renting one! Be careful of bait and switch: I returned my car 10 days earlier than the original plan but got charged $226 more than the original bill. When I questioned the bill during return, the person there said the manager will adjust it the next day, so I left, and then two days later I called again, only to find out that the manager said everything is right. We've picked up a couple of rental cars from them over the years and never really had any issues, the staff is friendly and quick in checking you in and out. We noticed that they are sometimes limited with car options and our category wasn't always available, but they had no problem providing you with something similar or maybe even larger. I had never before been treated so badly when renting a car. I was returning a car after two weeks and taking a different car for another two weeks. One of the employees talked to me multiple times in a terrible tone, ignored things that I asked, kept me waiting for no reason multiple times when I asked for some things, asked me to go to the car and tell him the mileage (isn't that his job?), gave me no report of the damage until I insisted twice, at that point they gave me a paper for me to go walk around the car and document it, is it too much work for them to at least walk around the car with the customer? The first car I rented had a windshield wiper missing, when returning it today another employee accused me of lying in a very passive aggressive way saying "did not rain in these two weeks? you did not use it? so strange..." After all this I lost it and raised my voice to the employee that had been treating me so badly, and someone (owner/manager/supervisor) stepped in treating me even worse, not caring about how I was treated, and basically bullying me. True I lost it and raised my voice, but it was because after all the lack of respect from the employees I had enough. Also, the place looks terrible, the cars are dirty (first time I rent not one but two cars in a place and they give them to me so dirty). On top of that, the car they gave me today did not have the tank full and the mentioned undocumented damage. I took a picture of the mileage and gas indicator, I don't want to be accused of lying again when I return it. I could keep going giving more details, but this is long enough already, it was a horrible experience, after I return this car I will not rent from this place again, ever. read more

If you rent here, be sure to look over your vehicle carefully! Didn't have many cars to choose from when I picked up the car despite having a reservation, but they had a car - looked decent enough. However first issue discovered that night when it started raining. Wipers were CRAP! I could barely see driving home; I actually stopped at the auto part store on the way home in the event I had to change it. It was also out of wiper fluid. [Fortunately after a good cleaning and adding fluid, it was adequate.]. When I was trying to locate where a rattling sound was coming from everytime I went over significant bumps, I discovered the driver's headrest was broken. But the "highlight" was discovering two bald rear tires! The vehicle was an AWD, and I took a trip up the pass to ski. Little to no snow on the freeway, but the roads leading to the ski resort had a bit with little slush... the car handled horibble! I have an AWD, and drive in snow frequently - this was not how it should handle. Upon looking at the tires the rear tires were bald, one with cupping and the rubber starting to separate. I had the tires inspected at my local tire shop, telling him I was returning the car the next day - he said I wouldn't wait, do it NOW. When I returned the vehichle to Avis [Bellevue on 116th], and let them know it should not be in service, one of the staff went to check the vehicle. He told me it was fine, and they could rent it [measured the tread, but only looked at certain areas of the tire - there was major uneven areas]. He did not seemed concerned at all. I was extremely lucky to not have a blow out on the freeway! For your safety, look over their cars really well. read more

LAURA - the lady at the rental is extremely rude & inefficient! She took 45 mins to give me a car that was already booked online and charged me 3 times instead of once! Sorry to hear about the other negative reviews, but we were really impressed with the service we were provided. My family rented an SUV and had to return it on a Monday. We ran into unexpected traffic due to paving over the pass and made it to the shop by 6:02 PM a few minutes after they were closing. Brenton was closing up and initially stated they were closed. He was able to make an exception and allowed us to return the car that evening. I don't expect this to be a regular occurrence, but we were really impressed he was willing to assist and stay later to allow us to return the vehicle. This saved us another full day and that means a lot! Thank you! We'll be going to Avis in the future for our rental needs. read more

Worst customer experience ever. I dropped of the rental car to the facility and the manager was hand wavy about return and didn't immediately generate the bill. 3 hours after that I was getting notifications about returning the car. They had still not checked it in!!! I tried calling them to have them fix it but they didn't pick up calls for hours and I finally gave up and had to go back in again in person. They had me point out the car in the lot and ask why it was still not checked in. The manager then made stories that they had already checked it in but the app wasn't updated. I asked for a bill. Surprise surprise when he actually did it and printed the receipt within a few minutes I got confirmation emails and the app updated to show the car was returned. But he maintained that they had checked it in and that the system wasn't updated. When I called him out on that - he got really hurt that I was accusing him and started becoming defensive. He would not give his name to be after demanding it and asking to talk to the manager and kept saying I should leave the store. When I insisted for a name, he then said he'd call the cops on me if I didn't leave. Spare yourself an extra trip, humiliation and go for another rental company. 5 years in, with preferred plus status and this is the treatment they give their customers. What a shame, I wish Avis had consistent customer service. read more

came to pick up a car. not nice front desk lady. car is parked behind another car, can't get to it. when I do, I find nasty slobbery finger print atreaks on the windows. I ask the helper if it's been sanitized. he took his gloved hand and rubbed the nasty finger streaks around. wow. I asked him to sanitize and that's what I got. I asked the front desk guy for help. I actually had to ask them to sanitize the steering wheel because the guy didn't wipe it down - wow. And those smudge marks- not gone, just smudged more with dirty cloths. Windshield is covered with bugs and dirt. Not clean. Gross!!!! It's quite disgusting. And slimed that dirty nasty rag all over the inside of the vehicle. If you care about sanitation, don't rent here because they don't. He didn't want to switch out the car because it would take too long for paperwork.
