We stayed overnight at the campground behind the combined convenience store/gas station/BBQ restaurant. Although the campground was so-so, the BBQ was fantastic! I'm still partial to Texas BBQ brisket, but Avery's pulled pork was the best I've ever tasted. We only ordered meat to take back to the camper, so I can't comment on the sides. Best BBQ restaurant in town! I ordered the meat platter for one. It came with pulled pork, brisket, and chicken. Sides are extra. I am a small person so I got full from eating one side and potato salad. Along with ribs from a friend. This place is fantastic!!! We had the beef brisket and pulled chicken. Both were amazing. Potato bun was perfect, Texas toast was the best I've had (real butter!) besides my own. We both really loved the sauce. The only reason for the 4 stars is because we were disappointed in the potato salad. For us, it's all about the sides! The potatoes were too hard. Best BBQ For 100 Miles! After trying to stop in here a few times to eat and being unsuccessful, I finally got to experience the barbecue food that everyone talks so highly about! The beef brisket was absolutely wonderful! It had just the right amount of juiciness and flavor with a tasty barbecue sauce that perfectly went along with it. I put a little bit of the house spicy sauce on it and I must say it's even better than what I make it home! The sweet potato fries were also super great! They were cooked absolutely perfectly, not soggy like some places, not crispy burnt like other places. I had the chocolate brownie for dessert which was a great way to end off a wonderful meal! Covid Concerns. My husband and I stopped at Avery's on way through town as they have good reviews. We thought the food was good but not 5 star. Our biggest concern though was the fact that not a single employee wore a mask; which is a mandate by our governor for restaurants. There were no masks or social distancing required of the patrons. The last place I was expecting ting to find good Carolina style pulled pork was in Arizona, but wow was I impressed when I stumbled upon Avery's on a road trip. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich a d Mac n cheese and it was amazing. The bbq pork had the perfect Carolina vinegar base and melted with each bite. The Mac n cheese was delicious and creamy. We stopped by here for a late lunch passing through from Utah to New Mexico. Ordered the pulled pork sandwiches. One with sweet potato fries, another with onion rings and another with corn. Pulled pork was good but the meat was not warmed. I like my meat warm. Fries and onion rings were very good. The corn on the cob had a great flavor but it was super mushy.. probably frozen corn that seemed to be soaking in water too long. Reminded me of KFC corn, so if you like that you are good to go. My 7 year old got the kids chicken tenders and Mac and cheese. She didn't eat either. Chicken tenders seemed to be the frozen Tyson variety and the Mac and cheese was like school cafeteria, lumps of cheese, mushy, and not warmed all the way through. All in all, it wasn't bad and for sure worth a stop if you are passing through. The staff was super friendly and helpful on the first visit. We decided to stop as we passed backed through because we saw a sign for "fresh" breakfast burritos. These are actually premade and warmed in the microwave and sold out of the gas station side. Decided to eat here based on reviews and it did not disappoint! Rarely do we get bbq with sides and enjoy everything. The sauce was amazing and the bbq pork and beef were delicious. I'm not a sausage fan but even that had a great flavor. They have a special item called BQ rolls, a bbq take on an egg roll with beef, green chilies and other good stuff with a chipotle dipping sauce. Yum! The only thing I didn't love was the coleslaw. Since I smoke my own brisket, pork, fish, and other items at home, I needed to get a little of what I call "home cookin". I pass by Avery's twice daily, and I stopped in to grab a bite after work. Walked in, and spoke to a nice, smiling, friendly lady named Destiny. Ordered the Pecan Cole Slaw, BBQ egg rolls (3 each) and a pulled pork sandwich. The slaw was fresh, crunchy, with enough dressing, a tad under seasoned (but you gotta cook for the masses). An addition of a little salt and pepper and it was fine. The BBQ Egg rolls were smaller than expected, but well executed. However, the filling was a little dry, but they were fresh. I had the Chipotle ranch sauce and it was nicely accomplished. I would have liked a little more kick to the sauce, . The pulled pork sandwich was nice. Their rub was simple, and allowed the pork flavor to come through. I found a little gristle, but simply removed it. The soft bun was warmed on the griddle, a small amount of sauce was added and then placed onto the pulled pork. Admittedly, being from Texas, it was a little lacking due to a lack of onions, pickles and jalapenos, but that is just normal where I live. No large disappointment. Honestly, everything I had was high quality, the staff was friendly, and overall, a very decent first encounter. Since I pass by twice daily it will be hard to pass by. Luckily, they are closed when I pass by on the way to work in the morning and that is probably best. read more

Long over Due, I owe you better. Avery's stands out like a beacon in the night; The sanctuary against cooperate vampires whose life mission is to suck the life outta this town. When you step into the parking lot, that moment, when your shoe it's the Gravel, the smells of smoke and hot coals burning in a fire Pitt tell the stories of smokey, fatty char goodness essential to all great barbecue. My nose found this place. Avery's is the bucolic bar, very in line with the quiet country living, with that ease of slow to get there, slow to leave feel. That's the reason we go on vacations, isn't it? Thankfully it's got everything But bullet holes in the ceiling and sawdust on the floor to keep you at peace.
