The price was amazing. I had priced 2 other places (both were a bad experience). Not only was this owner kind, she understood what I wanted. The funeral service was today. I arrived and the spray was on the casket. It was glorious, perfect in every way. We had so many compliments on the spray, and it really surprised me. People loved it, and it was beautiful. My girlfriend and her family are currently out of the country because their grandmother passed away this past Friday. The entire family had to leave suddenly, which meant her nephew, who was graduating today, and his 21 year old sister stayed behind alone. To make things even more emotional, their mother passed away from cancer three years ago. I volunteered to take him to his graduation so he would still have someone there supporting him on such an important day. When I arrived at Archibald Flowers, they were extremely busy because of graduation season. I gave them my friend's name, but they initially could not find the order. Eventually they located it and brought out a beautiful white lei. I placed it in the car, and just as I was about to leave, one of the employees came outside and explained they had accidentally given me the wrong one and that my friend had actually ordered the Bombay lei. I opened the trunk, and the employee kindly told me I could choose whichever one I preferred. I asked if there was a price difference, and at that moment, who I believe was the owner came outside. I told her I simply wanted whichever lei had originally been ordered. She then smiled and said, "You know what, for the confusion, just take both." I was honestly taken aback. I asked if she was sure, and she said yes. I thanked her deeply. What she did not know is how much this meant to this young man and his family during such a difficult and emotional time. When I later called my girlfriend to tell her what happened, she became emotional and said, "I think that was my sister sending a gift," referring to her late sister. To the beautiful salt and pepper haired woman who helped us today, thank you for your generosity and kindness. You may never fully know how meaningful your gesture was for this family. There is a huge difference between running a business to make a profit and completely taking advantage of a paying customer.
