This restaurant is amazing. The calzones were wonderful but I believe my granddaughters pesto ravioli was the best ever.

Hubby and I stopped here on our way to Eureka. It was a Sunday so we could only order breakfast. Server was pleasant and friendly. Food was hot and good. We sat outside so we could enjoy the nice day with our pup. Great experience! read more

Breakfast here was so good we packed up our camp and hot-footed it down the road to do it again the next day! The bacon, eggs and home fries were just perfectly executed. The flavor of the eggs in particular was so good. Top notch coffee too! Service was friendly both days and sitting out in the sun put the cherry on it! Stopped in here on my way back from hiking, and it was great! They've got a decent bar selection. I'm always one to love Crispin on draft. My boyfriend had a turkey and pesto sandwich and a bowl of clam chowder, and I had the veggie calzone. I loved that I could see them making my calzone, and it turned out delicious! Great for dipping in their marinara sauce. You could watch them make your pizza or calzone since they do it right behind the bar. My boyfriend loved the clam chowder. Had a late lunch there. Was pleasantly surprised. Its a nice little restaurant. Service was good. Food was good. Had raviolis with pesto sauce and chicken parm. Both were very good. This is a perfect spot to stop for lunch along the Avenue of the Giants. It's a friendly place and the food is great. It's just pizza, burgers, and sandwiches, but it tastes great after a hike in the forest. My burger was excellent. read more

I see most people had the pizza or calzones. We went here because it was the only place open for miles. That and we had worked up quite a hunger laughing ourselves silly at the girls selling shitty advice for a dollar down the street. It is very casual and even though the pizza smelled delicious I went with the grilled turkey sandwich. That sandwich was one of the best I have ever had - it was grilled with mushrooms and some really good cheese. Service was amazing. I wish I lived closer - I would definitely be a regular. read more

Who knew that the one restaurant that was open and right across from our hotel would be so good! The whole family was happy after this meal. I really enjoyed the manicotti. Kids loved the pasta. Decent house wine. Reasonably priced. Only disappointment was that they were too busy for us so we had to skip the calzones. One of our highlights on a recent southern Humboldt camping trip was dinner at Avenue in Miranda! The calzone was as good as I've had in years and it was prepared quickly! The ambiance was great. We really enjoyed our lunch here while driving through the Avenue of the Giants. There are not tons of restaurants on this stretch of road so I am glad we were able to find this nice little spot while driving. Has a nice variety of food and even has a good selection of beers as well. Definitely would recommend stopping here if you need a meal while out driving. read more

This place is the only one around for miles so they could get away with serving mediocre food -- it's not like people have much of a choice. But Avenue Cafe doesn't do that at all. My boyfriend got the chorizo omelette and I got the Greek omelette. Both were enormous and delicious and came with thick, buttery slices of bread and the best homefries I've ever had. The waitresses were nice and personable. If you're in the area, definitely stop in on your scenic drive. read more

A really nice diner with some upscale specials. We have vacationed across the street at Miranda Gardens a couple of times. Most recent trip (2017), we had dinner once at Avenue Café. It is a great diner with some reasonable attempts at upscale specials. Is this place the greatest in the world? No. However, this place does what it sets out to do, has good service, reasonable prices, and good hours for the neighborhood. My wife had a Calzone not on the menu, but based off of one of the specialty pizzas. She was delighted with the balance of spice and cheesiness, and thought the crust was a good medium-thickness crust. I had the Chicken Parmesan, and was pleased. Sure, the same dish at an Italian restaurant would have been a bit nicer with a thicker cut of breast; but the thin chicken cutlets and sauce were pleasant, perfectly cooked, and the pasta on the side was PERFECTLY al dente. At a roadside diner, I am not going to ding them for sliced mozzarella. It was good. Do not let my 4-star rating fool you. Although I can't quite find it in myself to give them 5-stars (there are better places within 12 miles), I will say that if you are passing near Miranda and are hungry, swing on by this place. Pizza, sandwiches, and other dinner items, and a good beer and cider selection make this place a nice rest stop or evening in the redwoods. It is really great to see the quality has remained good through the years. read more

What a treasure. I went there because everything in the entire area was closed for the season (May 1st.). Extremely glad to have found it. Food is wonderful, service is terrific and prices are moderate. My late lunch was the grilled turkey with peppers, cheese and onions....oh yum. I chose the salad rather than fries. The salad was a very pleasant variety of different greens...no ice berg lettuce. The cafe and bathroom were very clean. Lots on the menu looked delicious....will go there again and again as I live within an hours drive.....any excuse to get back to the Redwoods. We had to stop here since it's located in Miranda CA and my son's girlfriend is named Miranda. The place is great. It's in the middle of nowhere, not the place you'd expect to find an Italian restaurant. My family and I had a calzone, chicken parmesan, meatball sub and a slice of pizza. Everyone enjoyed their food and it all tasted really good. Okay, the sauce on my meatball sub was a bit sweeter than I'd make it but a sprinkle with hot peppers helped. The prices are a bit high for the ambiance but the food is tasty. We'd definitely stop here again if we were in the area. read more
