I got a simple breakfast sandwich, which tasted amazing. I ordered a runny yolk and it actually came runny. It seems like they use quality ingredients, and the smoothie I got with it tasted fresh too. Based on the service and food it would be 5 star but $20 for a 1 egg sandwich and 2 fruit smoothie is a little crazy IMO. After a long day of driving, we were referred to this restaurant because they have a patio and we have a dog! Much to our delight, the food was delicious and the service was excellent! Delicious thin crust pizza, half pepperoni & half veggie; excellent healthy minestrone soup; a really good caesar salad w/grilled chicken (or breaded, if you prefer!)! We spent 2 nights in Miranda and ate here for dinner both times. The food was great and the over-worked staff was amazing! Always cheerful even when people were waiting out the door. I ordered the "Houseburger" with cheese (a cheesburger made from locally grown beef), and it was AMAZING!!! You feel like it's overpriced until you actually get it, and it's huge and hand-formed and perfectly spiced with a ton of fries that are perfectly crispy......it was just amazing. And the staff was so sweet to me: it was a hot afternoon, and I was the only in there, so I went to sit at the bar, and a gentleman said to go sit in the corner under the air conditioner vent. So, downside: $16 bucks for a burger, fries, iced tea, tax and a decent tip Upside: a fantastic meal and great service. Such a hidden gem along the Avenue of Giants drive and the pizza was AMAZING, probably one of the best I've ever had. I don't know what they do to the crust but I couldn't get enough and between me and my boyfriend we almost finished the whole large pie in one sitting. They have a great selection of beers on tap as well and the servers are attentive and friendly. The outdoor seating is a bonus as well. We stayed at a hotel close to here and decided to eat here. It was terribly over priced, the hamburger didn't taste well and didn't come with fries. A bottled coke (glass) was over 3$! While the food at this restaurant is not generally anything memorable or worth writing about, their grotesquely unethical charging practices are worth noting. Given the limited vegan-friendly choices in the area, I went to the cafe and asked if they could make me a veggie burrito (standard in most breakfast menus but not offered here). She replied yes and proceeded to charge me (without actually telling me) for every ingredient she put into the burrito regardless of the fact that she charged me for the full cost of a breakfast burrito--but without any of the ingredients in it. I was basically charged $10.95 for a flour tortilla, $1.50 for avocado, and $0.50 for each of the other ingredients. How greedy is this establishment? Why penalize a customer for not wanting meat, eggs, or cheese in a burrito? I've attached the check--see for yourself. I will never return nor will I recommend this place to anyone I know. read more

We were in the Garberville area for 3 days over Father's day weekend ,staying at the Benbow. We had been hiking all day & chasing a toddler through the redwoods, so were pretty exhausted & hungry.The 4 of us had been hugely disappointed with the other places we had eaten the previous 2 nights so we drove the extra distance to this place. The staff was friendly,the food great & the portions large.[we had calzones & build your own pizza] .We made a mistake in our order & they were really nice about it. The food was so good we packed the left overs in the cooler & took it home (8 hrs away) with us & had it for dinner the next night. Thanks to everyone at the Avenue Cafe ! read more
