One of the few cafes open until 2 am. The Nutella strawberry crepe was ordered at 1 am and arrived to my door around 1:15 am (priority style). I love the presentation when I opened the to-go container. The crepe was shaped into a triangular piece filled with nutella and strawberry pieces. The Nutella reminded me of the Costco nutella that you could scoop out and eat straight from the jar. I love the taste of the crepe (mainly due to the nutella). However, the texture of the crepe seemed like it was too crunchy or it was a stale crepe. It didn't seem fresh but rather premade and just filled. Nice chill vibe. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. Hookah was nice and strong. Got to try their ice hose which was great! It really cooled down the smoke and cut down on the harshness. I am SO excited that there's finally a hookah spot in downtown Bethesda. My friends were home for the holidays and wanted to have a little get together out somewhere on Christmas Eve and I thought this could be the perfect place to check out. We were a group of 4 girls and the server (wish I caught his name) was attentive and accommodating. He shared many flavor combinations and gave us great recommendations. We shared one hookah between the 4 of us and were all pleased with the service. The interior is sleek, modern, clean and inviting all together. The vibes are just perfect - officially my go to hookah spot. Avenue is what Bethesda needed in terms of nightlife - a nice place to relax and hangout even in the evenings after work. Keep in mind though - there is paid parking all around since the lounge is located in downtown Bethesda. I came to this place to finish celebrating my birthday last Friday in a group of 4 and ended up being threatened by the worker to the point that he wanted to fight us. All because I needed my friends help unzipping my bodysuit to use the restroom. After I came out of the bathroom I went up to the counter to order hookah and instead the guy got super aggressive with my friend and I telling us it's illegal to have a male and female in the bathroom and he was going to report us to the police. He was extremely aggressive and demeaning towards my friend. He saw me go in to the bathroom and asking for help so I don't know why he didn't say anything then. I tried to explain that I couldn't unzip/zip up the catsuit from the back by myself and he went off and screaming at my friend after I questioned him about this law. While I understand the sensitivity to this, if it were two females, I'm sure it would have been fine. I was in and out of the bathroom quickly, I'm sure there's camera footage, but there was no need to be treated like criminals. My friend was trying to explain the situation but the worker kept trying to square up with him. Like bro, we just wanna smoke hookah and end my birthday on a positive note. It was disgusting behavior and I will never recommend this place. The fact that it was empty on a Friday night with no customers should have been a sign for us not to go in. Avenue is a great addition to the Bethesda after work/night life. They have managed to make a upscale hookah bar that still has that 'chill' vibe to it. The interior is decorated beautifully with rustic gold and grey accents (not typically seen at a hookah bar). The bathrooms are also very modern and clean! Our server Tim packed great hookahs for my friends and I. We were a group of 6 and shared 3 hookahs between us. All of us are hookah snobs and we all collectively agreed that each one was packed properly. Tim was very attentive and changed our coals periodically or whenever we asked.
