I want to start off with I went to the MIA in Victoria Gardens. I just wanted to write this review for any girls that are going into their blonde era. Now I didn't read any yelp reviews for salons when I was young so I hope you girls are smarter than I was. I trusted MIA because they were apart of Aveda. I thought if I was going to do it I was going to pay top dollar because I love having long thick hair. From my experience of going with this company my hair still broke a lot. Of course bleach is going to do that. Any stylist would say that. I'm sad to say if it's going to break either way why pay $350 when you can pay $180 or $230 for the exact same breakage from somewhere else. I also want it known that I am (NOT) supposed to have bangs. It happened through this journey. My second complain one of the times I went in they gave me a shadow root touch up instead of a full bleach blonde. I didn't like spending that kind of money for something I didn't want. The hair stylist blamed me. She said I had to be putting something different in my hair because she couldn't get it blonde like before. They weren't kind about fixing what they did wrong. They also couldn't accommodate to my busy work schedule to get me in. I ended up having to pay for the little roots that came in two weeks later for them to fix it. That was a good $600 that month out of my pocket. I also want to say I didn't like the energy or vibe from both girls at the salon. Customer service is very important to me. When I work with a client I'm always trying to make conversation with them. I'm always smiling and laughing with them. Whenever I went I felt like I had to carry the conversation and it got to a point i would bring my headphones so I didn't have to bug them with my life stories. I don't want to drop names because I respect this is their income. Lastly, I don't apply heat to my hair. I use Aveda hair care product all the time. I added a picture below of everything I use to restore my hair. I don't know anything about salons or hair dye. I am not a professional at all. I would like to continue my hair journey elsewhere if my hair is going to look cut off in weird places. I don't have pictures of every time I went in but I did want to share the ones I found. This is just as a warning to all my CURLY GIRLS. Find yourself a curly girl stylist. I learned the hard way that a agreeing to "just a haircut" with someone whose 'sisters mothers uncles dogs neighbor has curly hair so they know how to cut it' is not worth any dye and cut deal. Im referencing the 99 dollar deal which btw actually was 120 because of product, mind you all I had her do was the roots to cover my greys. That's a negative star on its own but I digress. I went in right after the new year, you know new year new new blah blah. Well I should have walked out when their aveda wash and conditioner felt like it had left my hair drier and more parched than before the wash. And then the stylist grabbed a brush, not a comb, but a brush. And then started detangling hair that she had made a knot of at the sink and had not bothered to condition AT THE SINK. She spritz some oil that didn't help and again, I should have left but she assured me her sister had curly hair so she knew what she was doing. When I asked for a dry cut when I came in, I didnt mean wash my hair, don't hydrate, brush it out AND THEN CUT IT but that's exactly where we ended up at. She was cutting like if she was cutting the ends of a very dry broom. Straight across..... And if you are reading and think that's not too bad, let's just say she ended the cut with SHEARS, you know the ones that create "volume" no curly girl needs that" and she only did the ends to give them dimension, again, I have curly hair what are you taking about. So now I have knots in my hair no matter how I maintain and style it. Thank God I stuck to my, just an inch or two or i would have died. She didn't even rewash to style it or show me the end result, she started to French braid it and that's when I had to stop her and just put my frizzy, dry hair in a bun and walk out to pay. They are lucky I believe in paying for labor but I did not want to give a single dollar tip but I did. I'll add a pic of me in blue in Christmas with my hair, and then a post shower pic WITH curly girl method products in my hair that still showed a poor cut job. The stylist may do a great dye job ( loved her blue hair) but she should not mistaken her experience for quality when it comes to a curly girl hair cut. And sadly I flew out right after so I couldn't come in a complain. I live in Italy so can't just come in and have someone fix even just the ends that were cut with shears. read more

I was overcharged. They had a new client special for $150 for color and cut but the catch is it only applies to a solid hair color. I wanted highlights, so I opted to pay more ($365). In the end I got a bad cut and no highlights. I had old highlights growing out and the stylist decided to just wash everything out to a mousy brown. I was there almost 4 hours and had to go home with worse hair than I walked in. Super disappointed and never stepping foot in there ever again! read more

For the price of this place and the confidence the lady who did my hair had, I had high expectations. And am very disappointed. I'm about to let you all in on a secret, THE best stylist in the world works here. Her name is Brittany Lehman and she is the only person I will let touch my hair. I literally drive from Arizona to California to have this girl do my hair since she moved away. No matter what I have her do for me, from a full highlight, simple trim, major cut, she blows it all out of the water. Sometimes I'll just tell her to surprise me and make my hair hot and I've never been disappointed with the results. When I came in just recently I had platinum blonde hair and wanted something darker and easier to maintain so that I wouldn't have a big chunk of dark, ugly roots all the time. I always go to Aveda Mia Salon in Montclair for everything, gosh I must have spent way over $500 in hairsprays and other products over the course of my shopping there. I brought in Aveda's traditional paddle brush a couple weeks back & asked if I could exchange it! Not Return and not to get cash but to get another product and actually buy more hairspray and some volume powder. I would have spent probably around $75 even with the exchange during that visit alone! Did you know that the girl that helped me was soooooo rude, I showed her the brush I bought from their location and said look at the way the bristles are bent? Is that normal I said? I put three hairsprays on the counter at $28 each & another product as well & asked her to please exchange it!!!! She said; "how do we know you bought it from us?" I said cause there aren't too many stores that sell Aveda & your store is the closest to me & I have always shopped here. She said we can't support it in our inventory as a return without a receipt & therefore we can't take it back! I said I didnt keep this particular receipt because I expected to use the brush and not return it. I said, wow, so let me get this straight, you would give up a frequent paying customer who always spends money here and all my future business over a BRUSH? I owner on further to say you don't care whether I'm happy when I leave or that I'd never come back over a cost of approx. $29? I have a B.S. And an MBA and have worked in Sales all my life and customer service is number one & should be for anyone in a support capacity. I would hate to have a customer ever leave knowing they were unsatisfied and then knowing they are going to tell everyone they know about their experience. (Bad or indifferent or otherwise) I would have even settled for a different brush had they had one but they only had those & I did not want another one. I just can't believe number 1, that the girl was soooo incentive to my situation instead of taking ownership of a faulty brush and remedying it. So, I put my 3 hair sprays back and said, mark my words I'm going to tell everyone I know that your store should not be frequented by customers where their patronage isn't appreciated and their sales girls lack professionalism, empathy to a problem and their willingness and ability to take ownership of a problem and make right by issues that arise. Let me just start off by saying the family owners of this business 1. Named Samia "Mia" not customer caring. First off I've never done hair consultations over the phone (not professional) so when I did I was irritated at the 3 times I got called in a somewhat pressure way to see if I wanted them to start on my extension highlights which were left in the salon the night prior when I went in for a color change on my extensions and my hair. So when I got called I said go ahead and start the application, but shortly after I called and asked for the pricing because the look I was going for didn't require a full head o highlights as the female employee was relaying what I was getting on the phone, once she told me I immediately told her I did not want to start until I got there and saw the turnout of the solid color done on them the night prior, and not to mention the price as well since I had just spent $160 the night prior and to get charged $285 on this day for install and less than partial highlights on my extensions sounded a bit too much. Luckily (I thought) the front desk female employee understood and told me not to worry because my stylist was too busy at the time to even start on the highlights on my extensions and that she would be seeing me shortly when I arrived. As I arrived the extensions were done forcing me to pay $85. Manager/owner Sia apologized for that "unprofessional" Telephone consultation but proceeded and said that basically they had to be paid for. I can go on.. Please do not come here and let money hungry people like this take your hard earned money, as they will abuse. As for my stylist she is amazing, (Tehani) cares about her customers and tries as best to accommodate the person in her seat, and I understand most was out of her control. I will NEVER be back to this place and will make sure many of you don't by reading this and all the other social media accounts and advertisements out there this will be on. My wife and daughter have gone to this place and the one in rancho a few times. the hair dresser has been good but the front desk person needs to be replaced. I made an appointment for my daughter to get her hair done a few weeks ago by calling the montclair location. Today I missed there call but in the voice mail I was told if I did not call back in a few minutes that they would cancel her appointment. It was a good thing I called back 10 minutes later to say she would be there, then I was asked if she could come sooner so they have enough time. If they did not think they could finish in time then they should not have taken the appointment. Then when my daughter was there she was asked if she wanted a hair treatment and she called her mom and said no. Then my daughter was asked of she wanted what she had last time, my daughter said yes thinking she was talking about the hair color. When my wife arrived she was told the total and that they added a treatment that was not requested. The desk person being very rude said "well that's the total." Needless to say my wife was upset about the charge. Then the desk person said "are you going to put your card in?" Very rudely, not even holding out the card reader. Then she did not give a recipe or even a thank you, just noting. It seemed because it was past 5pm she was mad that she was still there. This is unacceptable from a place where you spend almost $400 at. We will not return to this company and I do expect to be contacted about this. read more

Samia is a crook. My daughter went to get hair extensions and was unfortunately seen by Samia. After a short consultation, Samia recommended a specific establishment and type of extensions. The hair cost $500 and according to Samia it was a "bad batch". Of course she never mentioned it to my daughter during the process. Samia's work was less than adequate! My daughter's extensions were loose just 48 hours after leaving the salon. My daughter immediately called Samia and made an appointment to rectify issue. This is when things went from bad to worse! Samia told my daughter that it wasn't her fault and she needed to have the hair removed and was going to charge her for the work! My daughter -- for obvious reasons did not want Samia to work on her hair and just wanted her money back! Samia refused to make thing right. My daughter called to complain and the salon manager was rude and told her that Samia was the owner and there was nothing she can do. That's when Samia called my daughter from her personal phone to harass her, calling her "Nasty" for complaining. She proceeded to tell my daughter that this was her livelihood and therefore wound not refund her for the poor workmanship. It is absurd to me that the "owner" of a business would devalue their brand and reputation over $240! It was 48 hours after the work was performed and the salon needs to make it right! read more

What a great experience ! After trying out another salon that I paid a fortune for a terrible balayage and cut, I decided the blonde look was just not for me. A family friend had mentioned this salon and recommended Ms. Sameha to me and told me she will most definitely be able to get me to my hair "goals" unlike the other stylist who told me "it's not possible" . After 3 sessions of going from BLACK ( since I was over the last stylist I covered my hair in black dye and chopped off 10 inches to let my hair heal) to a beautiful ashy blonde, I can tell you that from now on I am ONLY team Aveda Mia ! I moved to the area recently and am on the hunt for a great stylist and unfortunately this is not the place. Front desk staff were courteous. My stylist was very frazzled it seemed. I had an appointment for a blow out and a hair piece application. Not difficult at all. Aveda salons are known for aromatherapy scalp massages. I was so looking forward to this treatment especially as a new mom. I did not receive. Also my hair piece was not placed to satisfaction. I was already behind schedule because Cassandra had another client and had me wait while she finished her. Not a good impression for a first time client. Every girl goes to get pampered for the day and expects to leave feeling happy and good about themselves with their fancy new do, but I left in tears and with a coloring fiasco.. I came to this salon to meet my sister who was having her hair cut and colored by Sameha. I needed a trim, nothing too fancy but Sameha and her assistant turned my experience into something more on the glamour side. My cut was perfect. I know I need to have my hair retouched and I hadn't been able to find a someone that I liked. But now that Sameha is practically part of our family she will be in charge of my hair from now on. Terrible salon I really don't know where to start with this review. When I entered the receptionist was very friendly and calmed down my uneasiness about coming to a new salon. I've had my hair styled at an Aveda salon before and they did a really amazing job while I also had a friend who got her hair done here and they did a really nice job. Mind you, I grew up with people who are highly trained professionals in the hair field so I have a pretty good understanding of what to expect from a stylist. My hair stylist greeted me and that was it no more talking. She seemed very reserved and didn't seem to put an effort on trying to understand what I wanted in my visit. It went all downhill from there. I have good healthy hair that bleaches well and takes color in well. They had to redo my hair about 6-8 times to get any type of color of it in my hair. Again, growing up with those in the hair field I knew this was something wasn't going right. I've gone through other salons before and this has never happened before. My stylist did a great job on making it seem it was my fault that nothing was going right and it made me feel really uncomfortable being around her despite being honest on what I put and do to my hair. She kept on accusing me that I must have done something to my hair and no honey I didn't! Not to be mean but maybe she lack the skills to do hair correctly. I felt bad on how frustrated she was till the point that I saw her going in the back to go complain to the other workers IN THE MIDDLE OF DOING MY HAIR!! I understand that there's things that are out of her control but to act that stupid and put the blame on me seem to very unprofessional it kind of made me realize that she didn't know what she was doing. I didn't even receive what I wanted in my hair it was a completely different look that what I would ever want and I also received a haircut which was very uneven I asked for a straight cut and I received a very choppy hair design I honestly do believe that even the indoor swap meet could do a better service than this. I was quoted about $120 for my services and it ended up being $230 for a color I didn't want and a really terrible half ass style and cut. If you want to go to a salon that is really friendly do an amazing job and care for you I suggest Rock Paper Scissors Hair Salon in Chino. I had my second cut there today, and as soon as I left I was bawling my eyes out. After a couple of years of trying to find the right stylist, I thought I had finally found a hair salon home here, even if it was 30 minutes away from where I live. My first visit went great, but my second one was just too awful to ever return. I didn't feel attended to by my stylist, he seemed rushed, and didn't really make me feel comfortable. He was working with other clients before I arrived, so I'm assuming he was trying to get back to them after me, which explains the hurried feeling of it all. I didn't even receive the "spa" services that were supposed to come with my visit. I have very short hair and wanted to go a bit shorter this time, more like somewhat pixie shorter. My hair is way more masculine now than cute, feminine pixie, and the moment I walked out I cried my eyes out. I even mentioned during the cut that I felt it was too short, to which he dismissively replied, "Well, it's all gone now; it'll grow back." That certainly didn't help me feel any better about the cut or the experience. I've been needing a hair cut something fierce, and stumbled upon this little gem. I was greeted right when I walked in, and quickly made to feel welcome. I did not have an appointment, but the ladies were quick to see who was available. Tea & water were offered while they checked me in. Now, I have not been to an Aveda Salon before. But let me tell you that I am a huge fan. Scalp message, hand and arm message... this place is amazing. I haven't even gotten to the hair cut yet! Brittany was my stylist. She is amazing! She is a lot of fun. She took great care of me. She always lets you know what she's doing, and why she's doing it. Doesn't talk your ear off, and gages the conversation by the client. My first experience was unpleasant. I just got a haircut and after getting my haircut and a hair mask treatment and detangling spray. All of which i thought was extra conditioning and a smooth approach to my long hair... didn't turn out great :( she was washing my hair and rolling it in her hands like she was forming dreadlocks. She was forming knots and tangles. This was not necessary this causes damage and she blamed it on the wash bowl and my hair being very long. Not cool. Treat long hair delicate especially when washing. Afterward began taking knots out from the center rather than starting from the bottom. This seemed intentional and i did not tip. I came here yesterday about 6pm to get a wash and a style and it has not even been 24 hours and my hair looks a mess. I came back to ask if they can touch it up and the manager in duty said that I have to pay an additional $20 to redo it because "it's not guaranteed". I did exactly what the hair stylist said in terms of how to sleep with it and what not and it looks horrible because of the product they put in my hair. Otherwise my hair is healthier than anyone's they styled. I am extremely disappointed with the reply. I asked for a partial balayage that looked natural and a hair cut. The hair cut turned out fine, but my color is horrendous. It's all different shades of blonde and it's very VERY blonde framing my face and there are streak marks in my hair from where the brush was applying the dye. The pictures don't even do the bad color job justice. Now I just have to throw my hair into a bun every day and look at the awesome streaks on the side of my head until the color fades out and I can go to a REAL Aveda Salon. I have been here many times and the service was fine, but this color job is just unacceptable. After reading reviews that the only option they present to you is to have it "fixed" in their salon is also unacceptable, you just messed up my hair why would I want you to try and "fix" it? Got a face framing cut from the owner of the salon and she left it really choppy. I told her I didn't want any point cutting or anything like that for that reason. There is a big chunk of hair on the side of my head that is shorter then the rest. I really think hair dressers need to learn to listen and take their time cutting people's hair. 2 minutes of her time will now cost me 6 months is mine to grow it back.
