Well, she did it again!! Julissa refreshed my style and exceeded expectations, totally brightening up my holiday spirits! I enjoy how collaborative the process of figuring out the color and styling is, and how involved I was during the execution. This time around I we went with bright, copper tone highlights blended in with the caramel/honey colored highlights similar to my last visit, and angled bangs. Forte for the win! Another great cut from Julissa at Forte. I've been going here for 3 years now and it has not disappointed. The best part of the haircuts are that they grow out so nicely! I still get compliments from the first day to the 6 months after. I like the haircuts so much, I always wait until absolutely necessary when my hair gets super long before I go. Layer's aren't the only thing good at this place. I'm pretty tame and get the same long layers with sometimes side-swept bangs but another client came in to get hot pink chunks! read more

I went to this salon located in downtown Claremont because I was having a huge hair crisis before a wedding. My normal stylist was not available and I needed someone urgently. Sabrina was an amazing stylist and I highly recommend her! I entered the salon and immediately felt welcome. It's a little mom 'n' pop establishment but it definitely does not lack in style and quality. The salon is very quaint and decorated well. Also, all of the stylists were very friendly and I did not feel intimidated as I do sometimes when I go inside of a salon. Sabrina sat me down and really discussed my needs before we proceeded with the beautification process. She really listened and I found that so important when picking a stylist. She also moved along and didn't take hours to fix my hair (which I also appreciated after a long day at work.) A hour and a half later... I emerged a new woman, complete with blonde high lights and a smile. Sabrina even took the time to fix my bangs because they were a little off. She made sure I was happy when I left and I appreciated her so much for that. We talked the entire time that I was visiting the salon which made the time fly. read more

Very friendly staff. I came in one morning to make an appointment and i had to come back later in the afternoon. Fail. When i came back.. i couldnt find any parking and there were soo many ppl out and about. Rescheduled for another time and i made sure i got it early in the day only because i like to get it out of the way and have the rest of my day.. and its more quiet there in the morning. I'm the kind of girl who usually cries at the salon. I've gotten my share of bad haircuts, and, at this age, it's seriously unacceptable to go out into the world feeling ugly instead of pretty after a visit to your hairdresser. It was okay in grade school, but as an adult-- No! It's not okay to mess with my hair! I called in the morning and they told me I could walk right in. There was no wait, and-- because I live in Downtown LA-- the free parking was a blessing. I love Claremont. Right away, Taylor asked me what I wanted, and I have no idea how she understood me. I LOVE THIS SALON!! I scheduled a first time appointment and ended up in the very skilled hands of Sabrina! I had been growing out my hair for over a year and a half in preparation for my wedding, and it was all the way down to my butt. Well it definitely served it's purpose on my big day, and then I couldn't WAIT to cut it all off, haha. Sabrina asked me how much I wanted to cut and I placed my hand an inch below my shoulders showing her the cut off point. She was so excited and got to work right away. A gentle shampooing and brushing later, she placed my hair in a ponytail and cut off about a foot of hair. I always try to donate when possible, and they were so happy that my hair was MORE than eligible for a charity donation. YAY! During my haircut, everyone at the salon was so friendly, that all of us there were chatting, laughing, joking and it totally felt like I was hanging out with friends I've known for years. So fun. I was almost sad when the blow dryer went on, signifying my time here was coming to an end soon :( Sabrina did SUCH an awesome cut. Not to mention she did so with very little description from me of what I wanted (I didn't really know what I wanted, haha, just short!!). Took my sister here for a haircut. Diane did a pretty good job even though she had a bit of an attitude, like "ugh, what are YOU doing here?" And I suspect she's the least experienced out of all the women because she wasn't wearing a black apron and was also operating as the receptionist. Nothing against that though.. but she should tone down that glare of hers. ANOTHER downside.. was I prepared to pay by credit card because I didn't have any cash on me.. and Diane choose the moment AFTER she cut my sister's hair when I sprung out my card to go "oooh..yeah.. our credit card machine is broken." What.. the... fuccckk.. You wait until AFTER her hair is cut to tell me that? What would've happened if there was no bank nearby? If I didn't have my atm card on me as well? HMMM? WHAT? So as you see, I'm going to probably take my sister somewhere else or at the very least ask someone other than Diane to do her hair. Because that girl was a b-i-t-c-h. Honestly, this was the worst salon experience of my life. But, to be fair I haven't had many other bad salon experiences. I went to get my hair cut with one of my friends and for both of us the girls just wanted to cut our hair shorter and shorter! I only wanted a trim and ended up getting at least four inches cut off. When I asked my regular stylist (at a different salon) why this had happened (i.e. do I have unhealthy hair? terrible split ends? do I look funny with long hair?), he said no but that this was a tactic used by hair stylists to decrease styling time and make their jobs easier. It took me forever to grow my hair back out. Honestly... if you go here just be super strict with them about what you want and I think you'll be okay. Definitely not my favorite place to go though. read more

I'm the type of girl who avoids haircuts as long as I can; I hate getting new styles and I hate being asked what I want to do with my hair. Can't I just wake up, brush a little, and go? Luckily two of my coworkers suggested Forte Salon (OK, I guess they were both dudes, but still). I called asking for an appointment later that day and they were accommodating, though their phone etiquette definitely left a lot to be desired (i.e., Rita couldn't put me on "hold," she literally just put the phone down and shouted across the salon at others, while I could hear everything.) Julissa was the only one who does eyebrow threading so I asked her to give me a haircut too. I asked her to reshape my eyebrows to give them more arch, they turned out looking like rainbow arches instead of the angle I meant, but she said I'd have to keep coming back so she could gradually reshape my arch over time... Uh, OK, you're the pro I guess. With my haircut, Julissa did a great job balancing what I thought I wanted with her expert advice: I wanted to preserve my length and short-in-the-back-long-in-the-front style, and she wanted to chop the back for more of a blended length. My bangs were a little weirder but it could've just been my babystraight, flyaway-ridden hair. Left the salon feeling good, mostly a product of her easy conversation and expertise. Taylor has been my go-to-girl for over a year now, and I absolutely adore her and her work! I am always very happy with my hair at the end of every appointment, and she always understands exactly what I want even if I don't quite know myself. I really appreciate the time and care she puts into making my haircut exactly how I like it. We'll usually start with a more cautious cut, then blow dry, and then I tell her where I'd like more taken off. She really makes me feel like she wants me to be happy with my cut and is just so friendly. Love Taylor and would recommend her to anyone! My best friend and I have both been victims to bad haircuts in the past, and are consequently a little apprehensive about letting scissors near our heads, but we were both overdue for a cut. I had heard good things about Forte from another friend, so we both gave it a shot with fingers crossed. Amelia cut my friend's hair, and I can't say much about the process because we were both being worked on at the same time, so I only saw before and after. The end result though, was amazing, and she loves her new cut. Taylor cut my hair, and I'll definitely be coming back when it needs to be cut again because she did an awesome job. I'm very picky when it comes to my hair, and I'm not the type to get a regular crew cut. I wanted a very specific look, and she made it happen. Usually even after a good haircut, it takes me a while to adjust to it, but it's been less than a day and I'm good to go. Taylor is my favorite stylist, she is super friendly and attentive to the look you're going for. She will help you if you're not sure what to get, and will gladly explain to you the process. I needed to find a new Salon recently that was local and I called and got an appointment with Amanda the same day! Trying a new stylist is always scary, but I was very happy with my experience.
