I noticed Christie Thompson had very positive reviews with respect to the kinds of color services I sought. I thoroughly enjoyed my consultation and my first color service with her. She listened carefully to my multiple concerns, presented great ideas and solutions, and was very engaging and professional through it all. I wanted to update my previous review. First, I want to clarify that my original review was not about the salon owner, but specifically about the hairstylist Tommy. Unfortunately, my experience with her was very disappointing. When I booked my appointment with Tommy, I also brought my mom with me, so both of us had our hair done by her. Sadly, both of our hair colors turned out very uneven and looked quite bad. The results were very similar for both of us, with patchy and inconsistent coloring. When I tried to talk to Tommy about fixing the problem, she did not seem willing to help correct it, and there was no offer to redo the service or provide a refund, which was very frustrating. However, after my review was posted, the salon owner personally reached out to me to apologize for the experience we had at her salon. She kindly invited us back to fix our hair. A few days ago we returned to the salon. The owner helped correct my hair color herself, and another stylist named Michael helped fix my mom's hair color. They were both very patient and professional while working on it. At the moment, I am much happier with the result because the strange uneven colors are gone and the overall color looks much more balanced. I will also attach updated photos. Originally, I wanted highlights, but because of the previous coloring, my hair had too many different tones, so it was not possible to add highlights right away. For now, the owner helped even out the color first, and we will slowly improve it. After I return from my trip overseas, I hope to come back and add highlights at that time. I appreciate the owner's effort to fix the situation and take responsibility, which is why I wanted to update my review. I just have to say my entire experience, from start to end of service, with Haven & Rose has been amazing! They were quick to respond to my inquiries and matched me with the perfect stylist. Amanda was clear and upfront about what we need to do long-term, what we can achieve in the first session, and how much it would cost. I had box-dyed copper hair (if you're a hair-dye veteran, you KNOW reds stain and box dyes are the worst) because I was broke and going through it. Amanda understood that, made me feel comfortable and relaxed, and did NOT shame me at all like I've previously experienced at other places. Honestly, I was so comfortable that I ended up falling asleep in the chair for the first hour of my session. I also mentioned not wanting to cut too much even though my dead hair needed a trim, and Amanda honored that and helped me bring my hair back to a much healthier state. She somehow managed to get most of the red and banding out, and my blonde was so clean without being completely destroyed. She understands situations and is SO REAL. It's now been a full year of going to Paachez at Haven and Rose! It's so important to be matched with a stylist you love. And boy did I win the jackpot! I've been to this salon before and loved it! My previous stylist wasn't available this time, so I went to Ali and she ACED it!!! This was a different cut for me because I was asking for some kinda vague things and I'm usually very specific: I told Ali that my hair was too heavy at the bottom and that I wanted my bangs to be fuller. She did an in-depth chat with me for starters and then explained that she would cut my hair three times. Once as it naturally fell, once after the wash, and once when it was dry again. She was so precise. She wasn't just thinking about the full shape, but also thinking about how it would fall when I put it up and how it would wear throughout the week after a style. She was excellent and I ended up with this fabulously textured, bouncy cut with these full, edgy rock n roll bangs. I feel great!! She did a fantastic job, plus she was so lovely to talk with. I moved to Upland a couple of years ago and I'm still searching for a good hair stylist. I found this place on Yelp and I looked through their instagram and I liked them. I liked a haircut that Shanon Rose had done so I went on their website and scheduled an appointment. Appointment was confirmed and I got a reminder the day before. I showed you 10 minutes early and was greeted by the receptionist and Shannon herself who was cashing out a lady that had paid $700+ for her hair. I sat down and waited, 15 minutes after my appointment time I look up and Shannon was in the middle of cutting someone else's hair. I think she noticed me looking at her and she called her receptionist to her and told her something. The receptionist came over and told me that Shanon didn't check her online appointments that day so she was "running behind" and if I would like to wait for her to be done (never got an ETA) or if I'd like to get my hair cut by someone that was "available now". I chose the available now person cuz I was already annoyed I should have definitely walked out. I waited an additional 15-20 minutes because this person was definitely not "available now". I got my hair cut by Michael who was okay. He was nice but his breath smelled and my hair was not cut how I wanted. He made me part my own hair which I have never done in any hair cuts I've ever had. He didn't section my hair to cut it, he just had me move my head around and cut straight across. I told him I didn't want a blunt cut, that I wanted the ends texturized, and guess what I got? A blunt cut. I like my bangs to be short so after he cut them I told him I wanted them shorter and he cut the first couple of hairs shorter and that was that. All in all I would not come back again, I thought Shanon not coming to me and apologizing and sending the receptionist instead was very unprofessional. Maybe since I wasn't spending $700+ and only wanted a haircut my appointment wasn't important enough to even look out for. read more
