First time here and found this place to have 5-star service. I was able to make a same day appointment. Met Michael who did a fabulous job on my hair. He first sat me down, offered some drinks, then started asking questions on what I wanted to do with my hair. I was a bit indecisive and he provided excellent recommendations. Ultimately I got my hair cut in long layers and a partial balayage. I was a little worried since the last place that did bleaching on my hair made my hair look blonde with some copper. I came here on a whim to get my bangs trimmed since I was heading out to vacation. The staff was very friendly, however, the guy who helped me with my bangs had no idea what he was doing it seems. I had asked for just a curtain bang trim which was what I came in with but he ended up just giving me very short blunt bangs. He didn't even tie my hair up or try to see how it would frame my face. I don't normally give a review when I'm dissatisfied, especially if they tried to do what I asked; However, Allure asked for a review, so I have to give an honest one. Went in for full highlights. I ask to match the color that I had already which had grown out. I asked for very small highlights (I said "maybe 'baby lights'") and no chunky hightlights. I said that most importantly I wanted it to look natural. I just wanted what was already in my hair brought up a bit since it had grown out. Mariela was very kind and I believe tried to do what I asked, but it just did not turn out well. As you can see from photos it's very unnatural, chunky highlights, a huge hole in the front when I have my hair up and the orange-ish color does not match at all. When it was first blow dried, it blended together better and I didn't realize how orange it was and how many streaks there were. Then I went home and inspected it more closely. Two stars at least because of kindness of staff and because the owner comped me a hair trim. I had an appointment with Amy originally, but she had a family emergency (totally understand!!). Not recommended. I've been searching for a local stylist since moving to the area. This being the only place that had an appointment available, I came in to have 2 inches of hair trimmed off. I requested no wash or blow dry, since I had prepared in advance and came in with a wet head for the service. I was charged $50 which I thought was incredibly steep for just a trim and less than 30 minutes of work. I paid and went on my way with a bad taste in my mouth. I then receive an emailed copy of my receipt showing that I paid $50 for a WASH, CUT and BLOW DRY - two of those services I again, did not receive. I spoke with Emma (owner) who told me I don't have an option to not be charged for a wash, regardless of having received the service or not. I even mentioned their website that shows a wash and cut are $35, so what's the price of just a cut? You're just forced into a service that you don't want? After much debate, Emma decided she would refund back $20 to my card, since she says the wash is only worth $5. Soooo, then she is admitting you can in fact, just pay for a cut?! Incredibly frustrating. Despite all of that, if her particular salon requires that a customer be charged for a wash, the stylist should have explained that. Guess we just pay for services we don't receive now. I will not be going back, and will be sharing my experience with friends and family to steer clear as well. Latest update - I never received the refund as promised by the owner herself. Absolutely crazy the lack of customer service and professionalism. read more

Update: I'll never go back here. The owner is horrible. I asked for an exchange on a product that completely stripped my hair that she highly recommended. I barely used it 3 times and still had almost full bottles. I asked for an exchange on a cheaper product and she refused. In that appointment I spent $300, the least she could have done is exchange the product for me. Also, she lied and told me a certain product wasn't sold at Ulta when I mentioned I had a gift card. She was extremely thorough from washing the hair to cutting it and styling it out. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE I am very sorry to inform you that this afternoon my wife had a very bad experience with Allure Beauty Lounge, Upland. Yesterday afternoon, my wife (who has been very seriously ill), called the owner Hema of this business to get her hair colored. Hema was not very professional and she said the employee Mike has gone for lunch. Let me talk to Mike and I will get back to you. My wife waited all day, but Hema never called her back. This morning my wife called Hema again and she said I forgot to call you yesterday, but you can come today at 2:30 PM at her Upland salon & Mike will be there to take care of coloring your hair. Hema confirmed with my wife that Mike has the requested color without ammonia. This afternoon at 2:30pm in scorching heat 100+, I took my wife to the Upland salon (as my wife cannot drive) to the Upland salon & I dropped her. After 15 minutes when I reached my home , my wife called me to come back and pick her up. I was shocked what happened & she explained when I went inside. Mike was not there and another employee was working with another customer. She said Mike is off today and I can help you. My wife asked her, "Do you have that particular color with no ammonia & she said no she does not have that particular color". My wife got frustrated and she called Hema and ask her about Mike & and the situation. Hema was not at all courteous, rather rude. She told my wife that Mike is not working today & you can come next week. My wife was very disturbed about all this unprofessionalism. DO NOT book an appointment. If you do get your hair done here, your best bet is to do a walk-in. Ask for a consult and be specific when asking about the cost. That way you're not shocked at the end of your appointment when the bill is double the amount you thought you were paying. I had just got my hair done because I wanted it colored because I haven't colored in a long time in the previous one faded so I was just looking to you make it all one color because I was going to be leaving for New York and somehow this appointment cost me more than my car payment If you ever gone to a mechanic and you were just going for oil change and then when you pick up your car your bill is like double the amount and you find out why this will give you that same experience all together. I would say avoid it because as a business I don't think this is owned by women personally but that's just my opinion I do think this place is hurting as a business because the person I scheduled my appointment with wasn't who I ended up with and that person had to be called in and she's also renting a chair there so her prices are different. During my appointment I saw the booking process happen actually because the owner double books (her words, not mine) and then has to ask her if she can come in on her day off or hope that she doesn't have another client because she handles the booking with her own clientele. So if you don't mind paying extra because you got to pay for a stylist to show up late. None of which I was told after speaking with the owner. Very very unprofessional had I known it was going to cost so much for my hair color I would have been more specific and showing up with my hair wet, have them cut it and then dry it and then color and then I would wash it out at home because they basically charge me for amount of product used on my hair. I will say that my eyes began to water from the fumes as soon as it was put on my hair. So maybe they need to adjust their measuring because it wasn't accurate. Even though what they're doing isn't illegal, doesn't make it right. Price gouging is ridiculous and you shouldn't have to worry about that when you're dealing with a business operated and owned by a woman. I have a lot of women in my family and they've asked me if they should book an appointment here and I told them no. As well as another family member having a wedding that needed hair stylist for the bridal party and I also did not recommend it. Lots of business based on this experience. If I could do zero stars I would. And just a note about the pictures. The amount do the appointment and I get that the price was an estimate but it says $100 plus. And if you can look you see the total is $225 for the full hair color so why wouldn't they just put 200 plus? And keep in mind I sent a message to the owner about this asking how they determine the cost and never received a response. Keep in mind once again the person that the appointment was rescheduled with charges differently because she just rents a chair and she has her own clientele and at the time of this appointment my hair wasn't even long. This salon does not care about their customers. I went to get a haircut that my boyfriend offered to pay for and I did not get anything close to what I asked for. My boyfriend called the salon to let them know what they had done and whoever answered the phone said they would get back to us and we had to call them back and then she said give us 15 more minutes and still no response. When questioned, the Hairdresser explained that because my daughters hair was longer than medium length they charge more. I feel like it should've stated that on their website to be more clear. While the hairdresser did a great job on my daughters hair, the advertising on their website was false. The salon was clean and tidy but way too warm While sitting in the waiting area. I really wanted to love this place. The inside of the salon is really pretty and cute and everyone was so sweet as soon as I walked in the door. I was coming from out of town where nobody local had time this week for an appointment, and I read good reviews on this salon. So I got an appointment with Michael, who was really nice and very welcoming. I asked for a very small amount off the back of my hair, and some long, face framing curtain bangs in the front. Michael even said "just like half an inch off the back" to which I agreed. What I got was at least three inches of length gone, just on the longest layer, and tons of really choppy, unblended layers all over my hair. I feel bad leaving this review because initially I did really like the way it looked after he round brush blow dried it, even though I was already skeptical of the length. After feeling my hair and taking a shower when I got home, I sobbed for hours after realizing how choppy and short it was. I can't style my hair down until it grows back because it looks like I have years worth of fringe and bangs and damage that never grew back, and it only looks good in a ponytail now. I also have a big wedding to go to in about a month, to which I have no idea how I'm going to do my hair now. Normally, even at home, I'm very nervous about getting my hair cut.
