DO NOT GO HERE!! I PROMISE U, lavishing looks on the salon sure, but I got played here, AND they overprice everything. I was trying to get extensions with a girl named Melinda who works here and when I finally got a hold of her, she said she cannot better assist me until I go in for consultation (understood). We were already texting and communicating and it seems like she already knew what to do and so she said to reserve a day to get my hair done, I need to downpay $100, and so i tried doing a vemo and it wouldn't work. therefore she said to just come in and give it to her. I finally come in and when she was explaining everything, I could tell she was sugar coating everything saying whats better even though its so pricey. she was charging me 1,200 for a sew in extensions (that i later on found out is overpriced with another salon I found who did an excellent job) Melinda was playing me because I'm young and it would be my first time getting extensions. On my way out, she told me to try the venmo that wasnt working the day before to send her $50!!!! for consultation!!!! that she never mentioned. She knew i was struggling with money and for 15 mins of her time she charged me $50!! which btw she told me to send through apple cash! it seemed like she only wanted me to come in to gain $50. This is a long overdue review: I used to come here and had Chris as my stylists. He was fabulous! However, he left suddenly and I wasn't notified until I arrived at my appointment. I was told another stylist could help me (I don't remember her name but she was new at the time). I felt uneasy about it but I ultimately agreed. I had red hair at the time and wanted to go back to blonde. Prior to my appointment chris had explained to me it would be a process to get my hair back to blonde in order to maintain the integrity of my hair. I was completely ok with it because I trusted he knew best. However, this new stylist said she could get me back to blonde and it wouldn't be an issue. I so REGRET allowing her to touch my hair. She DESTROYED my hair. I suffered chemical burns to my scalp that required medical treatment. It was so painful and embarrassing...It's been months and I'm still working with my new stylist to repair my hair. I called the salon asking to speak with the owner because she charged me $600 to basically destroy my hair. The owner wasn't available at the time due to a family emergency but I've never heard back from him... horrible horrible customer service. Till this day I can't do certain things to my hair. Literally chunks of my hair broke off in the back. I've spent so much money on treatments and products and my hair is still not the same. I would stay FAR AWAY from this salon. Save your hair. The pictures below were taken by new stylist to show me the breakage I couldn't see. UPDATE: The owner responded by saying it was a stylists "renting out a chair" and basically deflected taking any accountability or responsibility for causing actual harm to a client. That's not acceptable to me. So what you're saying is Ilo collective just allows anyone to work there? You're not verifying that this person is held to a certain standard? I did make multiple attempts to talk to you because I required medical treatment after coming to this stylist.. I've never suffered a chemical burn till she touched my hair and OMG it's so painful and scary. At this point all I can do is warn other women to STAY AWAY from your salon. Luckily my burns were treated and never got infected but I still can't wear my hair up or do certain styles because the chunks that fell out of the back of my hair...please go anywhere else!! Came in today for my grown out bangs to be recut, long layers redefined and split ends trimmed. I asked for my bangs to be cut in the "bottle neck" style they were already in (uploaded a photo), straight, tapered to shape my faces and at my brows (touching). Before she began they confirmed I wanted them brow level and I said yes. I said I can show a reference picture if my bangs had grown out too much and they said no, it's okay I understand. I should have insisted but trusted that the template of my existing bangs were enough for the professional to go by. As you can see I left the store -$115 with very wonky bangs which are much much higher than the brow-level And not the shape I asked for. When I looked in the mirror they said "I cut them shorter so they can last longer" but I have graduation coming up this week and never asked for bangs this short or for them to be shorter so they can grow out. I was disappointed in the length but I didn't realise just how wonky the cut was until I got in the car and my partner immediately pointed it out. I am extremely disappointed and wouldn't recommend because if I wanted to fix the wonky mess I would have to cut my bangs even shorter. It was definitely not worth 115$ to feel insecure. Update: I received a direct message in response to this post stating: "when you left the salon your bangs did not look uneven or this short." Implying that I had altered the bangs myself after the appointment. This is a false accusation as these pictures were taken as soon as I arrived back to my campus dorm room. My appointment was on Thursday at 11, I have uploaded a screenshot showing that these photos were taken at 11:53. They then ignored my request for a partial refund. read more

I'm new to Claremont so wandering around the "Packing" (something) building I found this beautiful place. We have really hard water in LA County and my water pressure at home sux so I need a good scalp washing once in a while. Made an appointment with Lynzee who is the coolest girl ever! Super nice and gives a great wash and blow dry. I'm so sorry that I don't remember the receptionists name, but they are the sweetest most attentive girls as well. Wonderful customer service and really great work....I look fabulous darling! There's parking right under the structure for free and an elevator that takes you right up to the (back) of the salon. They have the tip percentages available as you pay, no guess work and you don't have to carry cash. They also sell unique perfumes and really interesting- locally made -jewelry. One of the worst salon experiences I've ever had. I feel so bad writing this but I just had to share my experience with ilo Collective. Upon doing some research I thought this was a beautiful high-end salon with people who really knew what they were doing. I arrived Saturday for a bang trim and a blowout, which I honestly thought would be something routine and simple, but boy was I mistaken. It started out so well. My stylist Neyda was so sweet and we had a really nice interaction. The bang trim looked totally fine, but when it came to styling...it was a no from me. I asked for a 90s style blowout-- smooth, shiny, with some volume and loose curls. We all know the style is a current trend on social media. She began drying my hair with a blow dryer (business as usual) but then she decided to put my hair in rollers (totally fine) but I began noticing she was putting frizzy hair in the rollers, as If my hair hadn't finish drying beforehand. I let her proceed as to not be a busybody, but as soon as she finished and let the pins out... I couldn't believe she was like, "Ok all done!" It looked like a rats nest. I have thick, wavy/frizzy hair and this did not look styled at all. My roots were wavy and crimped and I had big 80s beauty pageant frizz. I asked her to please smooth it out, which she did, but with a hair straightener...mind you, that's not a blowout...She also styled my curtain bangs with a straightener and they did not look styled at all...they didn't have that effortless soft swoop, instead they were straight and split apart. After she went in a second time, it was obvious to me it wasn't going to get any better than this. The straightener helped but it wasn't the smooth, bouncy blowout I was looking for. In fact, parts of my roots were still frizzy and wavy. I got up to pay and could not believe they charged me $80 for that so-called "blowout" after the receptionist quoted me $50 over the phone. I also can't believe the stylist was going to let me walk away like that before asking her to fix it. I told the receptionist the original quoted price and all she had to say was, "oh we recently raised our prices." What kind of customer service is that? I wasn't lying, and the service they performed that day was obviously NOT a blowout. The audacity to charge me for that was appalling, but I let it go because I honestly just wanted to leave. I'm extremely disappointed and I'm sorry to say I will not be returning. I've had my hair done at other salons and have never run into an issue with receiving a blowout. I hate having to write this because once again, the stylist was very sweet but I think she may need to work on styling all hair types. read more

So glad i took a chance on a new salon and so thankful for Santi. It was such a joy sitting in his chair while he brought my hair back from the dead after the covid shut down! He and the salon made me feel very comfortable and safe with all the sanitary precautions they take. There is plenty of space to move around the salon while distancing from other people, each station has dividers and everything was constantly being sanitized. I was very happy with my cut, i went in wanting long bob but was open to suggestions, Santi pays great attention to detail he had great suggestions for my hair type and it turned out so cute. He also helped me decide what kind of highlights would look best on me. I usually have a general idea of what i want but sometimes i like to ask the stylist what they recommend based on how invested they seem. i know i should've called this place out sooner but i was too focused on fixing my appearance to worry about that, i got my hair done here about a year ago and i'm still dealing with the damages, my hair is still recovering from the dead hair, bleach burns, and cuts i got when i came here. I asked for a nice auburn hair color and instead i got dead neon orange hair with a side of blood. i was at the salon for around 9 hours because the bleach wouldn't work, i was irritated and in pain because of the bleach but i was just told by the girl who did it that that's just how the bleach works, it wasn't until i got home where i realized i was bleeding and my whole head was burnt. I texted the lady who did my hair through instagram asking for a refund and in my opinion i did it nicer than i should have, but still she was unprofessional and actually ended up blocking me, she reposted the picture of my hair without my face after too... obviously forgetting to put a picture of my cuts and burns. a year later and i'm still HIGHLY regretting ever coming to this place, i 100% DO NOT recommend. read more

I've been seeing Rachel for a few years now and have never been disappointed with my cut. She helps me make sure the hair style that I'm interested in will fit into my daily routine as well as with the texture/ type of hair I have. The space was so well put together. I splurged on some r+co products and looked around for far too long. So many things I want! I'm coming back to buy their secret grove perfume/cologne. I don't know of any places besides a shop in LA that sells r+co's amazing dry shampoo. I'm so excited to have found this place. Jennifer helped us out. She was so informed and very attentive. The owners were the ones working at the store and were incredibly sweet and kind people (: Products: Ilo collective carries lots of natural/organic skincare and beauty products. Perfect for the Claremont community, if you ask me! They also carry RMS makeup, which makes my hippy dippy heart happy. Ambiance: The store is located in the village, right on Indian Hill. The store is filled with light and the products are displayed neatly all around. Testers are available for most products. Parking: Since the store is located on Indian Hill, you can pretty much park anywhere in the village and walk to this place within five minutes. I like to park on the street. Service: The folks who work at the shop are super nice! I've been twice and both times I've had great experiences. They ask you if you need help, are happy to answer questions, and also happy to leave you to try the different items in the store. ilo is a unique beauty store with high quality make up, hair and skin care products. I love the r+co condition and shampoo products they have available. The also have an excellent perfume selection, I purchased the Capsule brand perfume in "Troupe" it has a very natural smell and stays on all day. My other favorite product I purchased from here is the Egg whites soap, it makes your skin super bright and minimizes the appearance of pores, and it was only $5. I have recommended this place to my boyfriend who really loves the URSA MAJOR products. I don't often write reviews, but felt really moved to after my hair cut and color yesterday with Lynzee at Ilo Collective. This was my first service at this salon and I was totally blown away. I haven't liked my layered cut in years and Lynzee worked wonders on it, keeping the mid-shoulder length, but integrating new, shorter layers without making them look like "shelves" (the problem I've had for years). She also did a root touch up that looks incredible and matches the rest of my hair color--no hot roots and it looks natural in the sun. Lynzee is a true artist who has cutting edge training and is just a really fun person who is easy and interesting to talk to. I've been going to Melinda for years, she's taken my hair from every color of the spectrum from blackest black to pure silver white and everything in between to it's current peacock blue color. I've had long hair, shaved head, bobbed cuts, all sorts of different layering and styles that she has walked me through how to care for and style, and I trust her to be honest with me if a style I think up in my head might not suit me or how to tweak it until it does.
