Know when something is *sooo good* that you are apprehensive to review so that they don't get crazy-busy? Rachel is that person. Cass is also incredibly talented, as told by the epic snoring I am doing by the end of a session, but Rachel - Rachelllll - clearly has a secret hand-radar for knots and is wildly intuitive. Best I've ever had. I have not known effective massage or total relaxation until Rachel. Like, my left ham-hock will jump, and she'll say "Oh, is something stealing all your energy?" or my calf muscle will tense up, and she'll guess "troubles at home?" - she's crazy-knowledgable and instinctual. I'm hesitant to write a review just because this really is a gem of a place! I have been here previously for a massage which was amazing. This time, however, I decided to try the Brazilian sugaring. So far? Best one imo. Amanda was personable and the atmosphere was relaxing. She gave very good instructions. I've been coming to Lumen Spa since they opened and their growing popularity over time has been a sign itself that this spa is something special. Usually, I book my appointments with Cassie and she's darn good at finding problem areas and wonderful to talk to as well. For someone like me who is quiet, everything is so comfortable and it is a truly relaxing and healing experience. Rachel is awesome too for when you really need to get down to business. I find she typically applies firm pressure for a deeper tissue massage. She has a wonderful upbeat personality and will invariably ask about your zodiac sign. So far I have yet to meet the other therapists there but I am sure with the experiences I've received so far that they are wonderful. They have such a collection of services: facials, waxing, lashes, and they're really the complete spa package. The vibe there inside is very unique. They are located in a quirky 70s style building and their rooms and furniture are beautiful decorated with a mix of zen rocks, aromatherapy products, and mid-century modern furniture. The entire ambiance is inviting and relaxing, while fitting into the overall vintage theme of Claremont Village. I saw one negative review mentioning that they couldn't find them. They're in the Claremont Professional Building. You enter through the side along Bonita Ave through the rather large gates and they are located next to the fountain inside. My husband bought me a gift card to this place so I decided to give them a try. After having a baby my back was really hurting so I initially requested a full body massage with Rachel. The whole experience was amazing and incredibly helpful in getting me to feel better in general. She applies firm pressure as she works wonders on my knots. Booked a 90 minute massage for today and was expertly cared for by Rachel. I am a 100% disabled vet working on a project away from home and away from my normally weekly massage therapist appt. I had gone several weeks without a massage and my body was tied up in knots. I had been given a recommendation by someone at the place that I am staying at to give Lumen Spa a try. I love Lumen Spa. I tried a lot of spas in the area, and this one is the best. On appearances, it might not have the bells and whistles that other spas have, but it has what is most important: it has great customer service, quality technicians, and the best prices. Appointments are easy to schedule on their website and the staff is always on time for those appointments. So far I have gotten kneaded therapy with Cass - and she is just fansastic. Cass is very talented, attentive and thoughtful. She always asks about and listens to my needs. I am beyond disappointed with the lack of professionalism of this spa. Don't bother wasting your time. Walked around for 20 minutes while glaring at the map on my phone trying to find it, never could. No signs or any indication of this business even existing anymore???? The map said it should've been right next to Walter's Restaurant and I could find absolutely nothing but private properties. Tried calling the number listed on Google/their website a total of 5 times during those 20 minutes, never got an answer. I would've loved to been able to avoid a no show because I know its inconsiderate to businesses, but if your business is so hidden and hard to find, you might want to know how to answer your phone. Emailed their email asking for a full refund, lets hope they deliver. Its been over an hour later and I've tried calling twice, still no response at all. My appointment was for Wednesday at 1:30pm, well within their business hours. Not sure what's going on but I am honestly pissed to have wasted 20 miles of gas and hours of my time on this. Came in for a prenatal massage today. Jessica did an amazing job! She was able to get alot of my stiffness out and I left feeling refreshed. The only thing I have to say that could have made the experience a little better was that in the beginning she was super talkative which made it a little difficult to relax but the last 20 minutes or so I was able to relax and I left feeling great! Have a drink or get some ice cream or dinner Right before your massage. It's in the heart of downtown Claremont! The spa is nice and quiet and feels so personal and cozy.
