So I had heard good things about this pharmacy. Anything would be better than dealing with RiteAid but I stuck it out. I finally had enough, coincidentally I went by the urgent care next door and was sent there to get a script. Lots of signage to switch . Super easy to get on board and I'm a fan of business that becomes familiar, they take the time to know you. I've given a couple bad reviews about pharmacies in Yucca Valley, so I want to give an outstanding review for the local Avalon Pharmacy. The customer service is excellent. The staff and the pharmacist cares about their customers but are very professional. When I moved here and Rite-Aid had issues transferring my medications, I turned to Avalon Pharmacy and they took care of everything. The most incompetent, rude, unmasked, undertrained pharmacist, period. They incorrectly filed my prescription with an old insurance that I did not even have by searching through the apparently faulty database on the ancient computer. it took me days of hassle back before surrendering myself to Urgent Care. I am a retired professional Senior woman living with terrible pain. Bone on bone Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Migraines. Thus, I have a monthly prescription of an opioid from my Rheumatologist. Knowing how dangerous they can be, I tend to under medicate and don't take a pill until I just can't stand it. The other day when I went to get my prescription, the very nice woman at the window told me it wouldn't be able to be filled until the 18th, two weeks ahead! I was shocked..and scared, since I was already in the pain cycle that usually leaves me curled up in bed. I admit I was verbally upset, but as I was trying to talk to the woman to figure out how this could be, a man (possibly the Manager?) came up and began to close the window in my face! How DARE he! He was treating me like a "drug chaser"! Because I was in pain, I was more upset over this than I would usually be, so he was responding to that and not hearing what I was saying. (Apparently he had looked and seen that I had filled my script at another pharmacy and instead of asking me why ...which actually was because a friend in PD owns the Pharmacy and I use it whenever it's convenient....he assumed I was doing something illegal. Amit explained to me today that it is always best if you are taking opioids to use the same pharmacy so that it does NOT look like you are chasing drugs....something no one had ever told me until he explained it to me.) Since I have spoken to "Amit", (who apologized graciously and has assured me this situation would be addressed), I am changing my rating to reflect the over-view I have always had of the pharmacy.( Prior to speaking with Amit, I had decided that It wasn't fair to poison a business because of one experience and I was already planning to change my star count.) Since the rest of the Staff has always been gracious, friendly and helpful, I apologize for my unpleasant verbiage when the window was being closed. A special thank you to the woman who was helping me understand what had happened. She was put in a very uncomfortable position between two people who were not communicating very well at all...to say the least! She was very kind and I will always remember that. read more
