Rite Aid closing June 28, 2025. Bankruptcy , right now half the store empty. We switched to another pharmacy before they close completely.

I feel like the staff alone at Rite Aid is super friendly. Always welcoming and courteous at the door, especially when serving their famous ice cream! The pharmacy is a different entity, but in all regards, they seem to be professional and very kind when it comes to customer service. read more

The Yucca Valley RiteAid is a nice clean well stocked store and the pharmacy is staffed with at least 6 people so not a long wait. We temporarily switched over to here from Walgreens pharmacy which was simply awful. read more

BEWARE of terribly lazy and careless pharmacy staff. I left the EMERGENCY ROOM on Saturday and went straight to the pharmacy. They close at 6pm. I arrived to an empty line and full staff at 5 and the woman at the counter (older middle-aged) told me they wouldn't have time to get me my medication because they needed to take care of everyone else's first. WAS DENIED SERVICE AFTER LEAVING THE EMERGENCY ROOM WHEN THE PHARMACY WAS OPEN FOR ANOTHER FULL HOUR. read more

This pharmacy is absolutely the worst! I had to have a prescription sent here because I couldn't drive to Palm desert to pick it up at Kaiser. So this is an outside pharmacy Kaiser uses. The rude lady in the pharmacy wouldn't take my card. Anyone who knows Kaiser knows there is only one Kaiser card that is issued to us. She wouldn't even call to get approval! I will never shop here or get my prescription filled here ever! So rude! Now I know why they are going out of business. Don't use this pharmacy! Beware go somewhere else! read more

I've filled prescriptions here for a few years. However, when I came in for a prescription last week, during a consult, the pharmacist made a comment about how the medication I was picking up was used to "expel a fetus from the body", making some random abortion related commentary. First, what my doctor prescribes to me needs NONE of the pharmacists' opinion. Secondly, this was not even why it was prescribed to me (but again, that's between my doctor and I). This is the Rite Aid along the main drag in Yucca Valley which takes you to Joshua Tree National Park. The area's towns are in what is considered the High Desert, or the Morongo Basin, and, yikes, it is the farthest thing from dense. I can't speak for its residents, though. I have not used the pharmacy here. I have shopped for a thing or two in the store and the employees seemed pleasant enough. I'd say that makes for a baseline 3, as most Rite Aid stores are capable of scoring. However, what gets me going, and what I also "sell" to anyone in the car, is their ice cream. I came to see that, in NorCal, Rite Aid stores often had Thrifty ice cream counters. Then, I learned that this store in SoCal, but practically on another planet from the bright lights of L.A., also had a Thrifty ice cream counter. Pull over! It's almost as if a bumper sticker needs to be affixed to the rear of the car that says "this car stops for Thrifty ice cream (at Rite Aid)." Just now, I sort of put the flowchart together. Thrifty may have been picked up by Payless Drug which was definitely picked up by Rite Aid. And, somewhere in the middle of all that, the hearty, down home ice cream formula and/or product remained. My parents used to bring home cartons of Thrifty ice cream from our neighborhood shopping center in the Southland back in the day. Again, the store comes off like a 3 to me. However, with the varied and tasty ice cream flavors, available in different scoop configurations and perched on different bases (cones, waffle cones, cups, etc.), I'm in seventh heaven. Hence, it's my sort of 4 ... for this store/pharmacy amidst joshua trees, tumbleweeds, (rattle)snakes and thangs, and on a major California state highway with lots of lanes and traffic lights for the fast moving traffic. Pharmacy is completely incompetent. We made appointments for Covid booster shots. When we arrived we were told they had no record of the appointments. We showed them confirmation on mobile phone. We waited for 40 minutes and were never called. Two women waiting ahead of us had been waiting over an hour. The Pharmacy was not understaffed. I counted 8 employees behind the glass as we waited. We asked for our vaccine cards back and were given attitude and rudeness. We had to ask another tech to retrieve our cards so we could leave. Also NOBODY was wearing a mask . Unacceptable. We will never shop at Rite Aid again, any location. read more

This pharmacy is literally the most unprofessional pharmacy I have ever been too. There was a woman named rikki there who told me that they didn't have the prescription I brought in. I simply asked if she could see if the rite aid in 29 did. Because I didn't want to drive back and forth trying to find a place that carried my prescription. Which is reasonable.. She then told me that they couldn't see or do that. I challenged her and told her they have done it before because they have and it's the same system as they have told me before.. She then told me " Never-mind we do have the med". She told me they would have the prescription done by 7. I asked her if it could be done before because I had to get to the airport. She got visibly upset. On another note I want to point out there are two lanes. It doesn't say drop off or pickup and there was a long line so I went to lane 2. She told me that I needed to get back in line that this line was not a pick up. Put a freakin sign explaining which is pick up and which is drop off. I had to wait in line for over 30 min. I cannot begin to describe to you how uncomfortable, annoying and not to mention your pharmacists don't know what they are doing. Please improve. Second when someone tells u there 200+ lb and 15ml was prescribed. I bought a 4 pack of ink pens when I got home I was writing with one of the new pens it skipped quite a lot so I tried another same skip. Tried the last 2 skipped. 2 day later I bought another set of 4 different brand they all slipped. I took the pens back , no receipt but did have the credit card charge. They said there policy is 1/2 price brace with no receipt, well in my book that's unfair and a scam. I also talked to manager. He said oh well. I buy 1000's of dollars medicines there. I was in Riteaid after a visit to ER on Saturday to get needed meds. Got to the pharmacy only to find it closed at 7pm. Went to the front counter to ask why the pharmacy was closed only to observe for nearly Eight minutes no one at the front register. There were others on line at the register, and a line at the ice cream counter with only one employee. Waited 12 hours for urgently needed meds!!!! went back to Riteaid on Sunday to be confronted with an over bearing employee who was very disrespectful!!! Rested iny car and after the time was up got back in the line Another long wait and then told they hadn't processed it thru my insurance. Offered me a discount coupon. Pharmacist is super unreliable. I have now multiple times called in to ask when ready and both times it was not ready and I had to come back 1+ hours later: no apologies or anything. Luckily it's not the only place I can get my prescriptions filled. read more

I really enjoy our local rite aid, I always receive a greeting as soon as I walk in.. always! The manager Jacob B. was super helpful and understanding when the prescription that's the doctor had prescribed me was incorrect (because of the wrong diagnosis) Jacob allowed me to return it and get the correct one, I was so thankful he was super understanding.. The pharmacy balls you out when you're in the drive-thru telling you to call first. Well, they don't answer the phone when you do!

This is a extremely busy pharmacy, but even at that they try hard to get your prescription filled and answer any questions. You have to remember your not the only one sick and need medication. It is at times a little hard to call and get through, but just try again. They must be answering because after no answer it goes back to a recorded message, then just hit pharmacy again and finally they answer they have three calls ahead, could you wait please. So it sounds like a matter of moments before a line is available to you. After that they are quick to answer your call. Give them birthdate and tell them the prescription and they instantly help you looking it up, if your insurance will pay for it and time they will have it ready for you. Their are just days it is beyond extremely busy and they may ask if medication can be filled tomorrow. If not they tell you time it will be ready and it's usually done before and almost instantly you get a text it's ready. They remind you on medications due, when they are too early to fill, if they can not get the prescription or have to order it. The pharmacy goes as far to see if another store may have the medication and the pharmacist even called me to tell me he could transfer to another pharmacy of theirs in the next town which was only 25 minutes away from our store. It worked for us. Patience's and understanding goes a long way as busy as this store is and other days are busier than another. Considering how busy they are I have never been mistreated in any way and as many questions I ask they answer politely. They may appear they are in a rush, but that's only because they are extremely busy. It's up to you as a customer to check if at pick up it's correct and you have all prescription that were called in or refilled. I find the app of the pharmacy to be great. You can check to see if your order is ready, do your refills and it will tell you or can see for yourself you don't have any refills left, but they will contact your doctor. You can see the picture of the medication, how many and the cost. Usually if it's a high cost they let you know, try checking to see if Good RX could be of help paying for your prescription. Believe me I am disabled and some of the prescription my doctors call over are way beyond what I can pay, even though I have told the doctors I'm on a fix income. If it's costly they send back to the doctor to do a prior approval to possibly get it at a much lower cost. If they have to order a medication they are out of stock or to get it for you because they don't have it normally on the shelf, it's the next day it comes in unless it's a weekend. Considering all I put this pharmacy through, they do excellent work. If your extremely sick, just speak up and they will help you, but if your prescription can wait another day, try to understand that to help others in need. I do highly recommend the app to check to see if your prescriptions are ready before you go to pick up. On this app if someone else is picking up your prescription you can even pay for it at that time which makes it much easier at pick up. You know the cost exactly too. The store itself is clean and employees are extremely nice and helpful. We buy a bunch of their Thrifty Ice Cream and can buy OTC medications by brand name or their store brand. Same ingredients and cost a lot less. Get awards for purchasing and you get discounts on your next purchases. Any discount helps and appreciated. read more

I really dislike having to leave negative reviews, however I feel this is only way business owners and clients get to truly see how customers are treated in their locations. I have been a loyal Rite Aid customer for years. My entire family shops at Rite Aid, I mean who doesn't love Thrifty Ice Cream. Where we previously lived, my wife had some issues with the pharmacy there. Of course. This being old news, it didnt stray us away from continuing to shop at other RA locations. We moved to YV some 4 years ago. Purchase all the items we dont want to go to Wal-Mart for and of course use the pharmacy. NOT after today. I dropped off a prescription on the 8th of July to be filled. Usually its filled the same day. Called the following day and they stated that they needed to get a pre-authorization. Didn't think anything of it. Fast forward to the 15th and I still don't have my medication. Turns out they were trying to bill the wrong insurance and never bothered to inform me. In fact, they tried to bill my workers comp insurance which the medication I'm taking had nothing to do with my workers compensation insurance. Rather than call me to state there's an issue or get clarification, I went without my medication for one week. The only way I found out was getting the notification from my workers comp insurance Rite Aid was trying to bill them. How can people be so careless? During my initial interaction with the pharmacy tech, I made no mention that my medication was to be billed to workers comp. So how come no one called me to get clarification? Poor customer service, or rather lack of attention to detail. I called the store to ask for the store managers name. The associate wanted know why I wanted the information. I stated I wanted to make a complaint. He said the managers name was "Jacob"... asked for the last name, to which he replied... I don't know his last name. My response.. How long have you worked there? His.... why are you asking?.... Mine..... because I find it difficult to believe that you have no idea what your store managers last name is. On another occasion... I was being checked out and asked where I was from. I replied, from here. The clerk said I had an accent. I told him I was born in this country. Yucca Valley at its finest! read more

The pharmacy here is amazing! The staff there are wonderful! They are fast, efficient, professional, and knowledgeable. I've never had a pharmacy go above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. Getting my prescription refilled was super easy and quick. The Thrifty's ice cream is delicious and I always come here with my family after a long hot day! read more

I have never used a Pharmacy that is so wonderful. I find everyone that works in the Pharmacy goes above and beyond. I came from San Diego where there was no bond whatsoever with the Pharmacist. Here, Roger goes out of his way to make me trust him to manage my meds. They are always on top of everything and let me know when my refills are due, and quick to call me as soon as they are ready for pick up. You should always call in your refills and I am 100% certain they will be ready for you to pick up when you get there. You can't expect to just walk in and demand your refill right now. I know that they will do their best to get that done for you, but you have to realize that they are not just serving you, they are managing hundreds of peoples meds for them as well. Roger had his girls remind me that I needed my Pneumonia shot and they kept reminding me, so one day I was in there and said "ok, I am going to get my shot if you have time", I waited about 5 minutes and Roger took me into another room and gave me my shot and I was out of there. They all work so hard in there and if a girl was going on her lunch break (that is usually a designated time for them), so what???? Wait for the next person that isn't on their lunch break!!! People today feel they are so entitled and demanding, and when they don't get their way, they write a terrible review hoping the other party will be punished by it, that is such immature thinking and childish. Went in to pick up my script at 845. But the pharmacist decided not to show up for work so the pharmacy is closed and I cannot get my medication. When I complained to the manager and asked when the pharmacist might decide to show up, she said she didn't know and "life happens". Life happens? No. Don't show up for work and you get fired. And death is what happens when people cannot get their meds, not life. What kind of horrible answer is that? I made a complaint to corporate and if I don't pick up my meds today because they decide not to open, my lawyer said that will be a good thing. Gonna take them to court read more

Can't believe I'm reviewing a drug store, BUT... the last 3 times I renewed my prescriptions, I was told a time they'd be ready and, after adding an hour just to be sure, was told it wasn't ready. Come back in 30 minutes. The previous time it was computer problems. Today "there was a glitch & we have to add an expiration date", for nasal spray no less. Get it together, Rite Aid. I usually only use yelp to write a positive review but sometimes a place is so bad and the customer service so poor that people need to be warned to stay away. I moved recently from San Diego and had all my prescriptions transferred from my local CVS down there to this Rite Aid pharmacy and I have had nothing but problems. Some of medications needed extra discussion with my insurance company after the transfer and the pharmacy was unwilling to do it. They didn't have time. Several of the associates and one of the pharmacists was so rude and unwilling to see or admit their error or look into it that I have no other option but to look for a new pharmacy that cares about their customers. read more
