As a retired California Pharmacist, Attorney and now a Product Review Specialist for Amazon. I recommend Rite Aid Stores and the Pharmacy for a number of reasons. The Stores are clean and well stocked with quality brand name products. Staff is exceptionally attentive. The Pharmacy is the best of all retail chains, which might not be saying much these days because all retail chains over-work and under-staff their pharmacies. Rite Aid here in 29 Palms is one of the best Rite Aid Stores I have ever shopped in. I shop there often, although their prices are not as low as Walmart, but they are close and I get all my prescriptions filled there. Rite Aid Pharmacies use good quality generic brands of prescription drugs. somewhat better than Walgreens and much better than CVS (friends don't let friends shop at CVS). If the Pharmacy appears busy, keep in mind they fill about 1,000 prescriptions, each and every day using 1.5 Pharmacists and 4-5 Pharmacy Technicians and clerical persons during a 12 hr shift. Also administering countless numbers of vaccines each day. read more

Shhhh....I probably shouldn't share this review. This place is fun, from the staff saying hello to roaming aisles with stuff not found elsewhere when visiting 29......you're here to embrace the suck most likely. And when the suck is a bit much, this place will be a fun place to roam and have fun. I could see a pop-up "aisle party" picking out stuff from the sales. Which, shame on them, made me stay longer. Really good diversity of brands, very tempting in store specials, and they have.....wait for it.......BOOZE AND A LOAD OF SNACKS!!!!! We simply cannot understand how a pharmacy that is supposed to provide life-saving drugs to us does not fill badly-needed prescriptions within 48 hours after getting it, then they do not return voice mails from us asking if the prescription has been filled, because we've had so many bad experiences, driving there -- an hour and a half round trip for us, only to not have a prescription filled, multiple phone calls to them do not get returned (have to leave messages because they rarely answer the phone, and on those rare occasions when they do answer the phone, they will leave us on hold for half an hour or more). perhaps they think they're too big to fail because they are the only game in town here, but that will soon change, and then those of us who this pharmacy has been abusing the will remember! Someone needs to be fired. Some changes need to be made here, something is very wrong at this pharmacy. read more

I needed the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 booster shot and they came through for me. I was a walk-in and didn't have to wait very long (half an hour). They're one of the few chain stores we have in 29 Palms and they offer a good variety of items which I'm grateful for. It beats driving all the way to Yucca Valley to buy some socks. And in the past when I needed to get medication they were quick to fill the prescription. This is a very good store for the essentials that we all need in life. read more

If I could give them zero stars for Pharmacy Department, I would. I do not know how many times my meds were not filled and I had to park under the tree waiting. I should hug that tree, as I know it well. Yesterday was the final straw. I used their automated number to fill 3 prescriptions and was told they would be ready at 10:30am. I showed up at 1:00pm and was told that it would be another 20 minutes. WTH? It takes 3 hours to count out 270 pills? This, after filling out a scathing survey report on them last month. I went to New Pharmacy immediately and had my meds transferred. They don't have a drive thru, but they call you when your meds are ready, and if needed, they will deliver your meds for free. read more

Overall, the store is well-stocked, but it can be VERY hard to find someone to help me, and the store manager simply will not leave the office. The pharmacy, particularly Tisha, is wonderfully responsive. read more

This pharmacy does not adhere to state mask regulations and when asked about it the pharmacist on duty roller her eyes and smirked. I waited over ten minutes past the opening time, the shutters inside were shut, I was at the drive-in. The pharmacist arrived, I understand people can run late. She did things around the pharmacy as she turned on lights, etc. She finally went to the microphone and I pointed out she wasn't wearing a mask, thinking she probably just forgot it. She took a mask and waved it in the air and said I wear it inside when I am serving customers and rolled her eyes. The pharmacy manager came up to the counter to get something, and I asked why she wasn't wearing a mask. He said "she will later, she has one." She then put one on, but pulled it down to her chin, so her mouth and nose was exposed and she smirked. I told her that she is around the pills we put in our bodies and her co-workers. She said "will that be all?" and put the paperwork to sign in the drawer. She shook her head. Clearly safety is no priority with Rite-Aid, the head pharmacist saw this and so I can only assume this is store policy to mock customers and treat this health emergency as a joke. I have the utmost respect for the people who serve on the front lines. I have seen all the other pharmacists observe mask-wearing and have seen them sanitize counters. They were friendly and helpful. If it wasn't for seeing the head pharmacist condoning this behavior I would think it was just one person who should not be working as a pharmacist. But when management approves it is not a one-off but a problem they have with cleanliness around the drugs we take and a total lack of respect for customers. read more

Very large and very expensive. But it's kind of in the middle of the desert, so I'm thinking there's a convenience fee tacked on, which was fine because when you need eye drops, you really need eye drops. The day I went, I found exactly what I needed, and the woman checking me out was quiet, but pleasant. There is also a decently large parking lot, but you can't enter directly from Twentynine Palms Highway -- you have to come around the side (but it's easily visible from the road). read more

The pharmacy is dangerous. They gave me the wrong medication and nearly killed me. They passed me off to their "insurance department." I will never hear from them and they will get away with this. Sucks. Just like this pharmacy. They will kill you causally. Watch your prescriptions very carefully. read more

If you have a choice to go to another retail establishment for diabetic supplies, do so. The markup on supplies at this location is outrageous. Example: Bayer Contour Next 50 count Test strips here are $79.99. At other retail drug stores they are $17.99 for exactly the same thing. This store is a rip-off. read more

I come here when I need something in a rush and don't feel like making a trip to base. I always end up paying more, but it's convenient (for the most part). I think it's neat that they have an ice cream counter. I've never actually ordered from the counter, but I have purchased the RiteAid brand ice cream from their freezer section a couple of times (I believe it's called Thrifty). I love the Rocky Road. I'm giving them 4 stars (3.5 stars if I could) because on a few occasions there have simply not been enough employees working. Last Sunday my husband and I stopped by to purchase two cards and waited in line for over 10 minutes. There was a long line of people waiting to check out and a couple waiting to order at the ice cream counter. There was only one employee working at the register. The woman who was waiting in line behind us went up to the front and asked if they had any job openings right now. The cashier told her they didn't, to which she replied "Well y'all need some. This place needs help." Then proceeded to walk out. This place is closer to my house, but I might as well just drive the extra 5 minutes to base if this continues. I'll save a few bucks and not have to deal with waiting in line for so long. read more

Takes forever to fill a drop off prescription. They said only takes 30 mins and will call when ready. After over an hour still no call so I decided to go back in and found out that it's been ready.
