Absolutely fabulous service and attention to detail. All of the staff are amazing. On one occasion I was having a bad day and the young lady had a bright smile and a jaunty hat, both of which brightened my mood and the rest of the day. Had a number of odd interactions with the bouncer-like male employee. He clearly is not friendly nor customer oriented. If he is an owner, he has chosen the wrong business to be in. Conversely, have had a number of pleasant interactions with the woman owner. Will take my business elsewhere. It's a laundromat and you are dealing with people. I've been bringing my $400.00 goose down duvets here for years and they have been awesome. Moved to Langford and took 2 of my duvets to the place on Goldstream and they conveniently lost 1 and gave me someones nasty srained duvet instead. I learned the hard way, not to vier from the best and now I drive from Langford to Avalon where they have never been anything but the best. Thank you Avalon Staff. read more

Clean, great layout, machines worked great, staff were VERY helpful. Dryers worked a treat. Sometimes, dryers in laundromats are weak (like the one in Bay Roberts). Thus you have to pour coins into them and wait forever. Here? They came out almost too hot to the touch. One negative is the hours. Close at 4:30. Last wash in by 2:30. That is a big negative for me. Dropped in. A rare Sunday open dry cleaners. That's the good. To clean, a leather jacket and silk t shirt. The bad. Brian, the owner of two island dry cleaning establishments, told my wife that no one on the island cleans leather as soon as she walked through the door. The silk t shirt was a problem, too, as he had to take it to his other establishment. No problem. 10 day turnaround. My wife was upset at his dismissive, rude tone. This in answer to some simple questions. He berated her for dropping the shirt through the plexiglass and not into a basket. Although marked, a simple 'mistake', easily and politely corrected. Time for hubby follow up as my wife was visibly upset, after a 60 second interaction. She's not the upsetting kind. I'm good at a poker face. I asked him about the leather and he reiterated the story. His tone seemed agitated, I'm sure not to him, but... Anyway, then came the story about shipping off to his other store, replete with bellyaching about his lack of employees and 'awful since Trudeau decided to give away free money.' He was unmasked, BTW. Certainly not following his own rules, plastered all over the front windows. My wife and I were masked. So, a no, another no, 10 days, belligerent, anti Trudeau and unmasked. Avoid like the plague. A 1.30 second interaction! If you read my other Google reviews (172,000 views), you'll see I'm fair and don't exaggerate. I'm not exaggerating here. read more

O NOT COME HERE IF YOU LIKE YOUR STUFF. As a local business owner I can't believe the treatment we've received from this company after they lost our very valuable duvet. At first they were very apologetic and said they would make everything right, it's now been a week and the communication has changed, the owner keeps mentioning how she will check the cameras to see who claimed our item... ok, check them then please? We still have our claim tag, and no duvet, yet now because we purchased the duvet with our visa points they are claiming it doesn't have a dollar value and have offered us a $150 credit at a store they chose. The value of the duvet was $750 when I bought it with my points, I sent them an ad showing as much, and they have just gotten progressively ruder and ruder about it. I finally called after my wife went back and forth with them and was accused of trying to rip them off by the employee on the phone, who also dropped several F bombs. Wow. We are pretty unhappy with their lack of professionalism, and will be letting everyone we know what kind of people they are, and what kind of a bush-league operation they run. I would give it zero stars if I could. Horrible service! They ruined my silk duvet. I previously had had it cleaned at the Wet Cleaner and it came back perfect! - fresh and soft and silky as it had always been. They, sadly. have closed so I brought it to this place in my neighborhood and they assured me they would cold wash it and air dry it. They didn't - they cooked it! The fill was all clumped and lumpy - not soft and silky anymore. I returned it and complained and the employee said she would have one of the owners call me. A week went by and nobody called so I stopped in there today. The employee (Brian?) was very curt and said there was nothing wrong - it was cleaned. I explained that the fibers had been cooked and he shrugged his shoulders and repeated there was nothing wrong with it. I didn't expect him to buy me a whole new quilt but some form of apology and maybe offering to pay 1/2 of a new one or at very least refund me what I had paid for the cleaning...Nope! Nada...nothing! I left the quilt there and told him to donate it to charity - I was so angry! Terrible - don't go there if you have nice things! read more

Brian and Stephanie are the most wonderful folks to do business with. I have watched them during my visits and see they work hard and long hours to serve their customers. We camp for long periods and greatly appreciate the gift of a clean, well-run, properly equipped laundromat. This place is it. We found the owners to be helpful, and it was evident they take pride in their important work and facilities. It isn't an inexpensive place to do your laundry--hence the 4-, rather than 5-star review; however, the machines did an excellent job and we will be back as often as we're in Victoria. We won't be back. Haven't been here for a while and the previous owner (white haired gentleman) was always polite and helpful. I don't know where this guy that works the front counter these days came from but he has absolutely no customer skills and should not be working with the public. Rude, impatient, coarse and not knowledgeable about the prices and procedures in this laundry. It was all we could do to pay and get away from him, never to return. I only have to go to a laundry mat once in awhile but when I do have to use one it is always Avalon!! It's the cleanest one I've been in. The machines are new and I haven't seen one broken machine anytime I go in. I also use their dry cleaning service. All around great place with great people!! read more

I'd give this owner a zero if I could. Beligerent and unprofessional nothing like the previous owners. I am never going back. My machine not working went to do one load of washing on a Sunday and machines were full, that I accept. Commented it was a busy day and he was rude. Went back Monday afternoon at 3:45 to do one small wash load 30 min, no dry and was told I could not do a wash as they stop at 3:30 pm, READ THE SIGN!! he says. It says closed at 5 pm. Too much in 2 days. Most machines were empty. I am stunned at how he spoke both days and was unprepared to handle it, esp after major surgery. read more

Good morning everyone, Just a few comments. I have been going to this laundry mat since it opened as I don't have a washer or dryer. In all the years going there I have had nothing bad to say about this place. The other owners were great and so our these ones. Their machines are clean, the bathroom as always clean and the service is great also. Everything today is expensive. Like groceries, Hydro and water keep going up in price so they have to also raise prices. Many times were I work people ask where can I go to wash my clothes that is clean. I have been a customer at Avalon for 18yrs, always was given great customer service until recently. I agree with Dawn's review, the co-owner is completely rude, and she deserved an apology for his bad behavior toward a long time customer. Stephanie, you did not apologize for his bad behavior, only said "We apologize". It was the co-owner that should have been passing on his remorse for the way he spoke to Dawn. The first time I had a bad experience with the co-owner was in March before Covid-19, he yelled at me for having my laundry basket in front of the dryer, I didn't know that was not allowed, there were no signs and I have kept it there in previous visits. When I asked him where I could put my laundry basket, he very rudely said he didn't care. I apologized for now knowing, and gave him the benefit of the doubt for just having a bad day. When I was in yesterday, 21May20, his behavior toward me just took me over the edge. I called the day before to find out what is expected of customers when they come in during Covid-19, the owner, Stephanie was very polite and helpful, I asked if there would be a problem with me taking one of their carts to my car so I could load my king size comforter to be washed and she told me, of course I could. When I got there I stepped in the doorway and stood there until I was acknowledged, he looked up at me and said what do you want? When I told him what I needed, he said take it, when I did, he yelled at me to stay back. I was shocked! The cart was outside of the washing hands area. I told him to stop yelling at me! The rest of my time doing laundry was very stressful, he yelled at me for slamming the washer door, one of the 8 dollar machines I was using wasn't working properly, and he grudgingly did the second wash for me in the other machine I was using. When I had the machines loaded and they started washing, I was getting ready to leave and stopped because a customer came in the door and I knew that I had to wait, he yelled at this lady and she also told him not to yell at her, she picked up her laundry and left, in hind site that is what I also should have done when he yelled at me, just not give you my business! I called him in the afternoon to let him know how badly he treated me and that he owed me an apology, his response was that this is not a train station and then hung up on me! Is that how you run a business and keep customers? This is very sad because over the years the ladies at Avalon have been very friendly, kind and helpful, it was always a nice experience to go to Avalon. I have been going to Avalon for about 4 years now every other week. Up until today they have been amazing and very helpful and friendly. The man at the front desk was very rude, and barked at me. I have been a regular, loyal, long term customer of Avalon Dry Cleaners until today. I went in to pickup some much needed dry cleaning which was promised for this afternoon. Apparently, the business was closed today due to painting. No advanced warning was given to customers that it would be closed except for a note posted on the door. Thankfully one of the owners was inside and let me in. I asked for my dry cleaning and explained that I needed it for a special event tomorrow. Reluctantly he gave ime my dry cleaning and verbalized how frustrated he was to do so. He was completely rude, irritated and impatient with me. I reminded the owner that I was a long term customer and did not appreciate the way he was speaking to me. I reminded him that it was Avalon Dry Cleaners who had promised my clothes for today. Sadly after 20 years that Avalon Dry Cleaners have had my business, these new owners will not have it anymore. read more

This business does not take responsibility for the work they do. I took a pair of sheepskin seat covers in to be cleaned, and was told no problem. They totally destroyed the $300.00 seat covers and said they were not responsible. I would advise anyone who does business there to be careful, because if the item is ruined you will receive no compensation. They burnt the hide until it was crisp and the wool fell out. After checking with another dry cleaner, I was told this should not happen. They obviously messed up with the chemicals. read more
