Great little grocery store to buy basic groceries and drinks. Friendly and helpful staff.

I needed to gas the car after exploring the Olympic National Park. My buddy recommended this amazing little retail store and gas station. It is like a little Time Machine! I had to go into the store to pay for the gas. The pumps don't have a card reader. The store sells a bit of everything, including vintage candy (NECCO wafers)! I picked up hamburger buns and frozen fries to help prepare a good dinner after a day of exploring the park. I could have hung out even longer since the coffee was only $1.50! After spending some time in Port Angeles, I was making my drive back to Forks and passed through this little town of Joyce in Clallam County. While I was here, I noticed that most of the local businesses in this community have the name Joyce in them. I decided to make a quick stop at this general store to pick up a few things. Joyce General Store opened in 1911 and is the longest continually operating general store in the state of Washington. Even though it is an old store, it has a nice charm to it. They is a variety of food, snacks and drinks here at Joyce General Store. You will find a number of goods like crafts, toys, glassware, and hardware. It has a little of everything. Joyce General Store is also a post office. I found it to be a very unique store. The customer service was very nice and helpful. read more

I recently spent a week camping in the Joyce area and ended up visiting the Joyce General Store a few times for everything from ice to beer to lunch meat. This, my friends, is exactly what a general store ought to be. They literally have a little bit of everything. From car parts to plumbing to toys, and of course all things foodie essentials, it's amazing what they've got stuffed into this very full (yet well organized) little store. And if that's not enough, the Joyce General Store also serves as the local post office! They also have a resident cat just to give the place even more atmosphere, not to mention the quaint, Little-House-on-the-Prairie-esque front porch photo ops with its gorgeous hanging baskets. The prices are wellll above what you'd pay at the grocery store, but the nearest one is at least 30 minutes away so, well, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. read more

This historical building has an amazing amount of goods-food, candy, beer, automotive goods, and other sundries. The old refrigerator cases and other old hardware are cool. There is a post office inside. There is also an adjacent laundromat and museum. I wish I would have known about this clean and bright laundromat instead of the scruffy one I visited in Port Angeles. Finally, visit the art and antique store across the street, open on weekends. read more

Since the town of Joyce is so small, I think Yelp defaults the address to Port Angeles. Joyce is a small unincorporated town quite a distance from Port Angeles. I stopped here to get a shot of the post office which is actually inside the general store which actually is really nice for such a small town. There is quite of variety of fresh foods and sandwiches and beverages. Joyce basically is the general store, a museum, and a small café. At least there is a place to stop for gas though if you're between Port Angeles and Clallam Bay. read more

I went in twice. One experience was good, the other wasn't. They have the basics. The second trip in was for firewood. I wasn't aware of the burn ban in Clallam County because I live two counties over and this was a spontaneous trip. I asked for firewood and the cashier looked at me like I was stupid and said in a tone that also said how stupid she thought I was, that there was a burn ban and the firewood is locked up and there's not getting to it. Like, ok. Just stating that there's a burn ban is fine. I asked if it explicitly extended to campfires in steel pits provided at camp sites and she went off her rocker a bit and repeated that there was a burn ban. The gentleman in line behind me started chiming in, taking the same tone as the cashier that suggested they thought I didn't know what a burn ban was or why theyre important. But I'm well aware and also aware that they can explicitly outlaw some things and allow others, so my question about the camp fire ring was not stupid. By this time they were both going on about the burn ban and you're not allowed to burn anything during a burn ban and it was to protect the county.... Uh, yes. That's common sense. I stated bluntly (and loudly, to get them to stop their steamrolling me like I was stupid for asking about the specifics of the ban) that I wasn't aware there was a burn ban, but now that I knew I wouldn't be having a camp fire. They still continued going on about it, and a minute later it dissolved into the cashier and old man discussing local news around the burn ban. So, if you want to be treated like you're stupid or not taking something seriously just for asking for specifics about something they tell you, then go to Joyce's Corner Store. Five stars for the variety of beer and snacks and the first cashier I encountered earlier in the day. Minus two stars for old biddy who treats out of towners like they're dumb and don't take burn bans seriously when actually those folks (at least this one) are smarter than her and probably take community safety, conservation, and ecology far more seriously than she does. read more

My wife, Joyce, and I visited the Joyce General Store 3 years ago and I was given the "I LOVE JOYCE" bumper sticker. I put it on my Silverado. Well, I traded in the Silverado with the bumper sticker for a Jeep Gladiator Rubicon. I called and asked if I could get another "I LOVE JOCE" bumper sticker for my new vehicle. If you are in the Port Angeles area and want to visit a small town where time seems to stand still, then go to the town of Joyce! I went here with my fellow Twi-hard friends and we decided to go here to see a different setting, plus my friend's name is Joyce and she wanted to go to a place where her name was like a virus which took over the whole town. We stopped into the Joyce General Store and much to our chagrin, this place was a store, post office, gas station, and meeting place for many Joyce residents. We were astonished to see Asian products such as Calbee brand chips and Mexican candies. (2 stars off for having a not so clean restroom) So if you are on your way to Port Angeles or to Forks, try to include Joyce in your route, its a quaint town that will put a smile on your face, especially if your name is Joyce! read more

The little town of Joyce, WA has grown a little bit since my last visit here about 14 years ago. There is now a couple more businesses lining this tiny strip which marks the uptown and downtown portion of Joyce. The general store has always been here and is the sole provider of provisions and gasoline for this little area. The next closest civilization is in Port Angeles. The store is cram packed with as much variety as the proprietors seemingly could squeeze into every spare square inch of this place. Wine, Beer, Camping supplies, even a tiny selection of fresh produce can be found here. It houses the town Post Office. Check out the antique original gas pump that is still located on the property, if you are into that thing. Those in the know are aware of the most awesome recreation area on the planet that is just a few miles from here... Making this general store a convenient and necessary stop for travelers and locals alike. read more

The slogan here is "if we don't have it, then you don't need it." The statement is pretty true. I found mushroom brushes here in addition to Shin ramen and mifin. I was pretty amazed at the selection of goods. The place also hosts the local post office. There are some really old fridges in the shop. The store celebrated its centennial in 2011. All people who love Joyces should come here and buy "I Love Joyce" bumper stickers. read more

Friendly folks and all the things you forgot to bring for a weekend at the beach. We've been stopping here once a year as we head to Whiskey Creek to pick up sweets and forgotten necessities. Small selection for a small town and expect higher prices as a result. read more
