Had a great first experience yesterday at AvaLena's and am seriously thinking about returning tonight for the live music. Thursdays are half price burger nights and my gf and I both got burgers. I was as thrilled that they had a dairy-free bun alternative as my gf was that they had buttery brioche buns. I went for a BBQ Bourbon burger with mushrooms and sautéed onions and alternative cheese. She did the double smashed with more traditional toppings. Both were great. Next time I will plan to upgrade to the sweet potato fries...but the French fries were great-particularly dipped in the bourbon sauce. It tasted a bit like a fried dough dessert this way. They don't have dairy-free desserts, so plan ahead if you want to save your fries and bourbon sauce while your gf eats strawberry cheesecake in front of you. Lots of tvs for viewing sports, AND I liked that the bar was far enough away from the dining booths that it didn't feel too sports bar-like from where we sat. That's a perfect solution, since my gf would now like to come here for football season and I want to eat great food but watch my phone instead of a game. Friendly, fast service. read more

The people are very nice and the live open mic band they had on Wednesday night was really great except they kept telling the band to turn the music volume down even though it wasn't that loud at all. Inexperienced management. It's all clean surfaces and the entire place is an echo chamber anyway. Just happened by the place a few weeks ago. Reviews were decent so we gave it a try! First time there (yes ,there was a second) we had an appetizer and a pizza! Beer selection was good staff was friendly and attentive. We brought friends back the next night and they enjoyed burgers and salads. Stopped by on a busy Saturday night and still got a table right away. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and the Hawaiian pizza was great! Even though it was understandably loud because of the game and crowd, is wasn't so loud that you had to yell to be heard, which was really nice. Only cons were that the drink/food menus and table were super sticky, and they primarily had IPAs on draft (though that might be a pro for others!)...but otherwise a solid experience and definitely want to go back! read more

We were in the area and I looked up local restaurants and this popped up on Yelp. Reviews were not so great but I think everyone can have a bad day so my wife and I gave it a try on a Sunday. Awesome large bar with open kitchen design. Plenty of booths and tables. We sat at the bar. We played Keno. Lisa was the bartender and she was very friendly and accommodating with our drink and food requests. She was the only bartender on staff and a waitress was working the tables. Lisa went out of her way to make sure that everyone at the bar was attended to and also did the Keno. Drinks and food were delicious. We had the deviled eggs, pizza and a wrap. This is really a hidden gem in Millis. A huge bar, plenty of seating, great food and very friendly staff. My only suggestion to the owner is the musicians play really loud. You have a high ceiling and a long room and the sound bounces all over. It's hard to talk to the person next to you. Then again, I'm old so these would be the things I'd complain about. read more

Went there last night and the service was AWFUL. It took 10 minutes just to get menus. The waitress was so rude, didn't even say thank you when she brought the check. Food is sub par and was cold, will not be going back here. It's a dark dingy bar feel. Save your money. Go elsewhere. Just got a message from the owner. She clearly cannot take negative criticism. If you look, there are other negative reviews, pretty much stating the same thing that I stated. So, it is not inaccurate, or meant to hurt a business. It is simply fact. dark and dingy does not mean, it is dirty it means that it is dark and gloomy..drab. It feels like a dark bar.. I can't help how you have the lights turn down so low you can't even read the menus. may be improve your weight staff starting there, then improve your food, and turn up the lights and make the atmosphere more fun and enjoyable. Food had to be sent back and we just accepted the replace from waiting so long, but we will never be returning. I would put this in the top 5 worst places to eat in the area. Awful. The final seal was hearing the owner and kitchen staff arguing while we ate terrible clearly pre frozen food. Will never be back. My husband and I made this account just to comment on this bar. Wednesday night.... Slow service at the bar with 2 bartenders - they need to get organized. Bartenders need to work out who is covering which part of the bar as some parts of the bar are getting ignored- waited 30 minutes to pay the bill. We had to flag someone down, the bartender (female) grunted at us and dropped the check at us as she ran away. read more

Worst service ever anywhere. Place was smokey; waitress said was due to broken pizza oven, which we weren't told until we ordered drinks so we were committed but couldn't order pizza. Burgers and sandwiches only. Hostess should've told us that since we went expressly for pizza. Rude waitress made face at me behind my back even though we waited 90 minutes for a way overdone hockey puck of a burger. Saturday night was severely understaffed with quite a few customers. Waitress came over and offered me half off the burgers since the wait was so long, but I still couldn't eat it it was so dried up and overdone. I saw a few people sending food back, which I would've done but I couldn't find my waitress. Paid bill and left.
