The Super Mushrooms with diverse fresh mushroom types and ricotta and asiago cheese is always my go to even with lots of other tempting combos available in regular, gluten free, and cauliflower crust options in 10" and 14" size options. There is a table in the tiny parking lot for eating at the restaurant, but really this is for takeout or delivery. Solid pizza spot, really fresh pizza with a light sauce ratio and plenty of toppings 9/10! I personally didn't try the wings, but my boyfriend said they had a slight vinegar taste to them, which he didn't like. The jalapeño Poppers were much bigger than I thought they'd be, however the breading kind of takes away from the flavor since it's pretty thick but still solid 7.5/10. The online ordering process and pickup worked great. I ordered a pizza with sausage on it. The sausage piece sizes range from a size you would expect to something smaller than a pea. The larger sausage pieces were decently cooked. The smaller pieces were basically carbonized in the oven. Not good. read more

Avalanche is genuinely my favorite place to get pizza from out of anywhere I've been. Their pizza, salad, sauces, and desserts are all on point and are truly delicious. Every time I go I just rock with a plain pepperoni pizza, with their basil pesto and jalapeno dipping sauces and it always blows my socks off. The vibe inside is also great, and the people who work there are always really nice and helpful. Wait times are fairly decent as well (the wait is worth it regardless). Pizza was great. I would pick the pizza up. Here's why I used the app to have pizza delivered to our hotel. Told wait for pizza was 60 minutes. App said pizza was on its way and almost to us. 10 minutes later still no pizza. I called and was told the pizza was still at the store. We ordered online and delivery to our hotel was super fast. Most of it got eaten before I could get my camera out. The appetizer "the Veggie Lasagna w/ Béchamel" was absolutely delicious. I could have made a whole meal out of that. The wings were tasty but a I personally prefer them a bit more crispy. We also got a "Northface Salad" and it was very fresh and plentiful. Every pizza here has some kind of funny name. It's usually a movie reference or something from pop culture. There's one called the I Once Was A Vegan Teenage Werewolf. It's usually about $10 for a personal size. It's a bit more for a pizza than from a chain. That's okay because it's better pizza. Just check out their website (where you can also conveniently order) to see what I mean -- tons of really interesting toppings and combinations. My sisters and mom and I got the philly, margherita, and cheese bread. Way too much food for four people, but we had gift cards we needed to use. Anyway, everything was delicious and we did end up eating everything throughout the course of the afternoon. The shop itself is nothing particularly fancy, so you know walking in that they put all their attention into their food. The two guys behind the counter were cool. Some very tasty, and cheap pizza. I stopped here as I had a job in the area of Athens and I had read some very good things about this place. I love New York pizza and it's my overall favorite for what type of pizza I can get but it's sort of rare to see it where I live so I jumped at the chance to get a slice when I saw that is what they served. The price of $2 a slice is a really good deal as the slices are absolutely huge. I bought two slices but could only eat one. The other was my next day lunch and reheated very well in the air fryer. The only issue I have with the pizza is the pepperonis. They are tasty but New York Pizza doesn't use small pepperonis like this one has. I also took a little bit of an issue with Avalanche not allowing me to add any toppings to a slice which New York style pizza places typically do. They usually upcharge you, throw on a topping or two and then hit it in the oven for about 5 minutes. I typically like to get onions and extra cheese added to mine but Avalanche said they will not add toppings, if you want anything other than what is in the case you have to get a whole pie. So not sure why that policy is in effect because they could satisfy customers and make money on upcharging if they did like other New York Pizza places do. All in all though it was an excellent slice, the cheese was plentiful and very high quality, the sauce was tangy and the dough was really well cooked, it did not taste frozen at all. I would highly recommend this place if you're in the area for lunch. I imagine my rating would go up to 4 stars if I could get a whole pie but I still would get those small pepps. Ok I stopped here last weekend to grab a slice and it was horrible, I was back in the area on Saturday May 4th and thought okay I will give them another chance. I bought 3 slices of pepperoni pizza not sure how long it had been under the heat lamp in the plexiglass container but I thought I was going to break a tooth.... I paid $6.00 and I wasted $6.00 This was my last straw. I really wanted to get a good product this time. I asked the boy if I could have something fresh and he said SORRY LADY can't put out a new pizza until this one is gone...WELL...the person behind me owes me a thank you. They got the fresh pizza. I am not going to order a full size pizza at their prices just to get a good product. If they are going to offer by the slice there should be some type of expiration timeframe on the slices to be tossed so customer paying good hard earned money doesn't get a bad product again!! I am really concerned on who is doing the voting here to name this place the best pizza in Athens, Ohio. I am at the conclusion that since a college town, the kids are all drunk or something and they are just happy to eat because they have the munchies.. I'm giving them 3 stars just because I've had them play me twice now in a years time. Don't get me wrong the pizza is good. The customer service on the other hand (not with all just some of the employees) is sh*t! Honestly I always support local businesses but not sure I can stand behind this one anymore. Monday I started calling at 10:15 to make an order no answer just voice message. Tried again 10:20 same. I was on my way home from work so I just swung by. Man I walked in and the place was immaculate, not a crumb anywhere so I knew right then and there I was not getting food from them. I asked the guy what time do you close twice and he gave me the run around 'around this time' I said well what time is that? Finally I said dude just level with me you close at 11 but you've already got everything shut down so that's that right?? I work in food service I get it but closing up 40 mins ahead of time is just pushing it. As I was walking out I could tell he knew he screwed up cause he tried to offer to make something. I mean at this point where I have to hustle out of you what time you close it's too late. I'm pissed already why would I want to give you my money??? The first time this happened the kid actually locked the door while my hand was on the handle to open it! Yeah messed up right. I thought I was trippin! But he did, locked it! Balls of steel! So for these reasons sadly I will no longer be getting their pizza. Sucks but fool me once. Left pizza at wrong apartment. Never called us, never did anything. We called over an hour later to hear them say they left it at a different apartment and didn't call us. We had to walk to the apartment where they left the pizza which was ice cold (they wrote down the wrong apartment number). Then they had the nerve to get an attitude about it.
