They have gone way downhill for a while now. The chicken nuggets they call wings are worse than the chicken nuggets served at local schools, they might even be vegan. If you get veggies in your calzone, I hope that you like them raw. If you order delivery, make sure you pay with cash or they'll just leave the food at your door without letting you know. Food is great it's the service that's the problem back in my home town to order and I was disappointed. For one that they didn't call the correct phone which I entered so my food sat at the door and got cold and I was missing a side garlic butter. I called to get the garlic butter and they told me it wasn't on my order and they wouldn't deliver it. Im certain I ordered it bc I had to change my order to get garlic butter side instead of red sauce. D.P. Dough is the shit as far as delivery in Athens. I took care of my late night munchies more than a few times. They hit the spot when you need it. It's really cheap too bad they deliver late. They have good options for everyone. It's common in college towns. If you go to college in a small town in the Midwest or Northeast, chances are there's a location. They have tons of calzones. It's their specialty though they do have some other items. The calzones are about $5 to $7. It's best to have them delivered to you. The inside is really small. It does have some tables inside. The Athens location is on Richland Avenue far away from student housing so delivery is mostly to students. I would stop in to D.P. Dough if going through. If staying in Athens have it delivered. They will bring it fucking late into nights so it's good for sobering up. read more

Firstly, while waiting for my food I went into the restroom to wash my hands only to find no soap AND no paper towels. And it didn't look like there had been either for some time. Okay my husband got a free calzone for his messed upcalzone last night and they said they would have it ready by 10 and then my husband calls from.work and they said it was just coming out of the oven at 10:35. So my dad picks it up a few minutes after and when he went in the manager chewed him out I mean bitched. She said you know this order was supposed to be picked up at 10 right. My dad said yeah. Before my review, I would like to put a spotlight on the simple concept of a calzone and how it has been largely denied over the years. Ben Wyatt (played by actor Adam Scott) on Parks & Recreation was famously criticized for appreciating and suggesting calzones at a work function. He was shot down, being told that calzones are stupid and so is he. I believe in those exact words but I'm too lazy to close my Yelp app to 'YouTube' the scene. Plus my phone is going to die soon. Stick and move. Calzones are not stupid; evidence: - Calzones maintain their internal temperature better than does pizza, on account of the -pocket-like structure and reduced surface area. - Calzones can hold more ingredients, as a simple slice of pizza yields to mass toppings, folding under itself, weakly. People then fold their pizza to create a sturdier shape. Well, you're essentially emulating a calzone, idiot. - You don't have to share a calzone. People invite themselves to a slice of your pizza but few will ask to smack a bite of your calzone. I'm a non-sharer. I can appreciate this perk. - The box of a calzone is easier to carry. Ever carry a pizza box down a crowded college street? (Remember, we are in Athens). People shoulder the corners of a wideass pizza box and it pisses me off. Calzones are easy to conceal, and not so big to draw shoulder shoves from passerby's. - Calzones are better on "the go." Calzones are the GoGurt of pizza product. I think these advantages often get overlooked by elitist pizza eaters. I'm a proud calzone eater and I don't care who knows this about me. #riseup My review... It was good. I love a good DP. We don't have DP Dough where I live, so I always make sure to get my fix when visiting Athens or Columbus. It's my first stop when I get to town and I get in as many DPs as possible to satiate my appetite. They're open super late, but this place is so much more than drunk food to me. Unlike the shame that comes with the 3AM Taco Bell run to the border, I have zero regrets when I lay in bed and take an entire DP Dough Calzone to the face. Sometimes it's too big to finish in one session, so I take a nap and then go back at it for round two. Luckily, the inside stays warm for a really long time. The calzones are large and can get a bit messy to eat, but the after cleanup is always worth it. If you're feeling wild, you can choose your own items to stuff inside, or can go with one of the classics. You'll be satisfied either way. If you can't decide which protein to put inside your calzone, I highly recommend the sausage. It will definitely hit the spot. read more

DP Dough is a staple when you are an OU student living in Athens and it's a must when you go back to visit as an alum! Even though there is a DP Dough in my town (Raleigh) I don't order it unless I am in Athens - When in Rome! DP Dough specializes in delivering calzones. They are a good size for what they charge. My favorite is the Testing Zone with breded chicken, mozz, and pesto. Each calzone comes with a side sauce. They are really good on delivery. They deliver late late night and are always friendly. They always tell you that it will take around an hour, but they show up between 30 and 45 min depending on if it's a weekday or weekend. This place is known for its calzones which they have about 30 different ones. They are of good size about the size of a medium pizza folded in half. They have them divided into categories of ; steak, breakfast, vegetable, chicken, and other. The cost $6.75 each unless you get the "zone of the day" and that one is $5, a pretty good deal. My biggest mistake from ordering from here was not tipping the delivery driver more. We just moved to Athens and were so thankful to find a place that would deliver to us with us not living on Court Street. Our Caesar salad, something that is so simple.. was freaking incredible! Loved the shaved fresh Parmesan cheese! Our calzones were crazy yummy and flavorful.. and lastly... the fresh hot cookies paired with ice cream were simply to die for.
