I knew what I wanted and had done enough research and been to enough Honda dealers to move quickly assuming we could get to a reasonable price on the new car and on my trade. Mine was an unconventional deal in that I was mostly dealing with the sales manager rather than a regular salesperson because they were all busy. But honestly that worked better for me because I was already past that and just looking to complete the deal. After some haggling and negotiation we got to a reasonable deal and I walked out with my new car. So I got the car I wanted at a reasonable price. I like the car so overall I would consider myself a reasonably happy customer. The reviews on Sullivan Honda seem to be generally favorable so I guess I'm not the only one. So I guess it f you need a Honda you could do a lot worse than Sullivan!

The morning of the appointment (that's today!) I decided to text that same number to confirm that the vehicle was still there, as the drive to this dealership is almost 2 hours from my home. They responded & told me that the vehicle was sold, but I should take a look at their other options & let them know which I was interested in so they could have them ready for my appointment. I never showed any interest in their other vehicles. I was very clear that there was one single car I wanted to see, & so that's the car I made an appointment to see. They sold the car & were never going to tell me. They were going to let me drive 2 hours one way to find out the car was gone. That's a really dodgy business practice. Not only will I not be buying a vehicle from a dealership willing to waste my time like this, I'll definitely be advising other people to stay away as well. Amber was a good sales associate & I wish she worked elsewhere.

What should have been an exciting purchase quickly turned into months of stress, uncertainty, and constantly having to chase answers. I was told that the vehicle had to be brought back to this dealership because the warranty would not cover the repair within the first 30 days of purchase. However, the dealership then kept the vehicle beyond that timeframe and ultimately processed the repair through the warranty anyway. As a result, my warranty coverage was used to repair a vehicle that, in my opinion, should not have been sold in that condition to begin with. Very sneaky! At one point, I was even made to feel like I was somehow at fault for driving the vehicle--when in reality, I purchased a car to use it, not to worry about whether normal use would cause it to fail. That moment really stuck with me. I was told they see these issues happen everyday to cars that this is normal. I was told the issues were due to the age and mileage for the vehicle. Zero accountability. After finally getting the vehicle back, the same issue happened again not long after. I completely lost confidence in both the vehicle and the dealership's ability to properly fix the problem. I was advised NOT to drive the vehicle off the lot as I would do more damage and warranty wouldn't continue to cover the repairs but they had no concerns on damage or safety having us drive 1.5 hours there twice for repairs. What made this experience worse was the way it was handled at a management level. My interactions with the general manager came across as dismissive and I was appalled by the statements made as they were very unprofessional. Honestly an embarrassment for their organization. I understand that cars can have issues--but how a dealership handles those issues matters just as much. In this case, the lack of transparency, poor communication, and how the warranty situation was handled made an already difficult situation much worse. If you find yourself in a similar situation, know that you do have options. You can file a complaint with the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles, which oversees dealer practices and consumer protections. It's called the K-35 Dealer Complaint Form. I'm sharing this so others go in informed. Ask questions, document everything, and make sure you understand exactly how problems will be handled after the sale. Don't count on transparency from this dealership. They won't tell you the vehicle being sold just had a major engine repair 2 days before sale. The same engine repair that had to be fixed twice, among other parts that were affected in the process.
