Based upon a recent experience, I would say both Autozone and O'reilly's are somewhat dishonest. I had left a light on in my 2021 qx50 infinity and the next morning, the battery was dead. I put it on a jump starter, no problem. later that day, it dies again so i went to Autozone and they tested it and told me it was a bad battery. It didn't seem right on a car that's only just turning 3 years old so, i went to O'Reilly's. Same story. At O'reilly's, after being told the battery was bad, I went to the car after he tested it with the motor off, hit start and it fired right up. I bought one of those portable jump start boxes just to be safe and went home. I put it on a trickle charger over night and this morning, no problem. There's no way to be certain, but it sure feels like a sleazy way to sell someone a battery they don't need. Also, just as an FYI, the $130 jump start box i bought at O'Reilly's was only $80 on Amazon and O'reilly's does not price match Amazon. I will be returning it tomorrow after having Amazon deliver one that is even higher rated and with more features for only $49. This is by far the worse auto zone I've ever been to. Let start with the inventory. They don't update their inventory so when you order something online it will show in stock, but you go there and they don't have it. Second I went here because I wasn't sure what was wrong with my car whether it was my battery or alternator. Once I got there they tested my battery, but did not install it correctly I hit a speed bump and my car lost power this was scary for many reason number one reason is I Think about it my son was with me luckily I was able to stop somewhere safe. But they don't talk nor send memos letting us loyal owners know when their vital parts might fade out or down right stop working. Now, wouldn't it be great if they could. Us mortals are subjected to the quirks and irrsequesces of stuff going south faster than ice melting on a hot and humid Texas summer. It's just going to happen. And as female people, I think we carry more anxiety that others might try and take advantage of our lack of auto know how. It can be very stressful and financially draining to address. Last night my car turns over slower than usual. I comment to myself, that's odd. So I go about my errands and say to myself, I need to find out why that's happening real soon. Yeah well. From my mind to my cars ears. Less than 2 hours later, my car literally stops in the middle of the road on Mockingbird's dark and well traveled street in Highland Park. Luckily a nice cop pushed my car off the street while my tow ride arrives. Hello Autozone. My new Spring 2017 car battery bought from them would not hold a hand held jump or old school major cable jump from the tow service. Oh snap!! As my car is on the flat bed and whisked away. The fun begins. Once they open up earlier that morning, the nice female manager verifies there is no consistent voltage. Since my battery was under a lifetime warranty, a new car battery was replaced FREE of charge. Saved almost $200 right there. We check the alternator. It's fine. We thought it was my starter, but it's my electrical fuel pump. Which makes sense. No gas was getting to my car's engine. So I call Autozone back to check to see if they carry the fuel pump I need. Unfortunately the exact one my car requires today will be available only on Tuesday. Nope. That is 4 days away. Cannot do it. A call back to Lovefield and the owner Javier. He found a new pump in stock and is working to get my car ready today. Us Americans are so dependent on our cars and with oil rich Texas having less than ideal mass transit compounds getting around without our own set of wheels. It is what it is. Next week, I am also getting new brakes on my car. I call Autozone to price check these parts. Going to save over $100 easily and again, those new parts will have a guaranteed life time warranty. When my new brake pads ware down in 2 years or so, I will get FREE replacements from them. Savings add up. We all work hard for our money. Why not go with a company that backs up their products and offers hands on service. My only hiccup with this store. A young fellow sized me up wrong when I bought new windshield wipers earlier this year and put the MOST expensive brand on my Mercedes Benz. Hey thanks for thinking I am some rich b*tch. But I am not. And even if I had money to burn, don't assume cause I love luxury cars. Anywho. The moral of the story. Ask for prices beforehand. Didn't really care for my experience here. My service engine soon light came on so I wanted to get it checked. One of the female workers checked my engine and we went back in and she simply handed me over some papers and that was it. She didn't go into any detail, she was really short and dry. I told one of the male workers that I was frustrated with her non explanation of what was wrong with my vehicle. He attempted to go into a bit more detail, but by that point I was irritated. I went to purchase several items as my to-do list was getting bigger and bigger. An employee walks up, does not bother to say hi, and proceeds with, "I need you to leave your backpack up front". I replied I would do no such thing, but she's free to follow me around if she has nothing better to do. This should not make any difference, but I have very valuable work documents in my possession and had to bring them with me rather than leave them in the car. She leaves, and another female comes by and asks if I'm ready to checkout? Annoyed with the whole thing and not having the energy to escalate this nonsense, I proceed to checkout with 2 items I have in hand, giving up on the rest of my list. I ask the cashier for the manager's phone#; he does not know. I ask for a business card; they don't have it. I ask the 1strude lady for her name and a #, she says her name is AJ, but I can get the # off the front door as she will not write it. Needless to say, I'm annoyed beyond, as it's clear the passive-aggressive approach is the theme for this store. I walk up to the door; guess what...there is no manager's name or number. I tell AJ, and she yells, how I don't know how to look. She walks out with me to look and guess what...the number is not there. She mumbles how someone must have taken it down. By now, you would think she would say "Im sorry", and provide the information requested and try to smooth things over. But that would require AJ to realize she was in the wrong on several accounts, apparently not her style. She proceeds to call someone and ignores me and the original request, complaining how at this point, I took a photo of her, as I doubt she gave me her actual name. Realizing this is childish and I can use a review site, rather than go out of my way and keep this internally between me and the management, I just leave. Anyways, I don't need a canned reply from the management about how sorry you are etc. Use (or don't) this information to fix your business. If you think your business is dying because of online sales, think again. People shop online because they don't need the headache and drama. I will NEVER be back to this location. The assistant general manager, Jose, "helped" me if you can even call it that and the fact that he has partial responsibility for the store is scary. I went in after a few alert lights came on my dash and according to my manual, I needed brake fluid. I went in and asked if he could look and not only did he roll his eyes, he was like well you'll need to stand here until someone comes up front from the back...not a problem, I get it they don't want the front empty but he didn't even call anyone so we just waited. After he went to the car he was like "POP THE HOOD" and mind you I am at least 10 paces behind him, still coming out the door and last I heard, key clickers don't have hood popping options and he seemed so put out that he had to wait for me to get in the car and open the hood. I guess he had to hurry back inside to help all the other ZERO customers that were there. After saying that my brake fluid was about half empty I asked if that could have set off the alert and he was said "well obviously...there is a problem and your car is alerting you." Ok, but generally things don't alert you if you have over half full still. He simply walked back inside and took a bottle off the shelf then stood at the register. Oh ok, I guess I'm buying some brake fluid from you. I purchased it and he continued to stand there and then sighed again, rolled his eyes and said "oh you want me to put it in, too?" No sir, I wanted to take a bubble bath in it. Luckily he put it in, closed the hood and once I drove away the lights went off but never in my life have I dealt with a more chauvinistic pig. So my car broke down AGAIN, the day after I had fixed the mystery problem: battery. Service was quick this time and responded appropriately to my "I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS THING!!!" by giving me a free temporary fix: a loose screw lying around the shop. This helped to bridge the gap between the battery terminal and the metal-thing-that-connects-the-battery-to-the-engine. I ran over here on my lunch break to get a new battery. I called first thing in the morning to see if they had any in stock and they put the one I wanted on hold for me. When I arrived they seemed a little busy but made sure that I knew that they were trying to get someone to help me. They did a battery test, installed the battery and rang me up in about 30 minutes.
