To start.... this is more about attitude towards the unhoused than AutoZone as a whole. The young man that originally helped me was great. I have no issues with him he was very polite and tried to be helpful. I have two gift cards that are each under $15. I have no car so they are of no use to me in the store. I requested to redeem the balancea for cash. I understand that the policy for AutoZone is that they do not redeem for cash. However, being that this is California, Effective April 1, 2026, California Civil Code Section 1749.5(b)(2) requires retailers to redeem gift cards with a remaining balance of less than $15 for cash upon request. Previously set at $10, this law applies to electronic and physical gift cards, excluding specific promotional or prepaid cards. The 2nd young man at the counter advised me that they don't do that. When I pointed out that CA law says they have to he stated that "well that's CA law... We go by AutoZone law". I asked if he would look it up on his phone as my phone was dead so I couldn't. He refused. I asked for the manager and he stated he was the manager. I asked for both of their names. The "manager" stated he didn't have a name. So I asked for his direct supervisor. I was told to call the number on the window. And again said he didn't have a name. I get it that maybe they are unaware of the requirement. But to refuse to offer to look into it.... Dismissing me as though he's answered and that is final.... The manager with no name made it very clear in his tone throughout the whole conversation that he has certain opinions about the unhoused. I am not JUST an unhoused person. I am a consumer who had 2 gift cards that I have no use for and would like to exercise my right to redeem said gift cards for the less than $30 so that I may put that towards something that would be useful for me. My housing situation should have no connection as to whether or not the manager with no name will be willing to do what a manager is expected to..... Simply look it up. Do not come here. Staff is incompetent and argumentative! Story: I tried to buy a battery here for my minivan while visiting from out of town. I called in advance to check if they had any batteries compatible with my car and they confirmed they had 2. I told them I would go with the more expensive option, and I am in a hurry, I will be there in 5 minutes to purchase so please get it ready for me, I am on my way. When I arrived, same guy is standing there and had not gotten it ready. He wants to check my battery. I just had my battery checked and it is coming out as "good," yet all the alerts are popping up on my dashboard; based on expert opinions and online research it is likely the battery. I know the battery is going to read out as fine and I would like to just buy it, so ask him to skip this step. He insists on popping hood to "check the size of the battery"; (I knew this was baloney but I am trying to be nice); he proceeds to hook up his tester. As expected, it comes out as "good" (I am not surprised; I had this done 5 minutes ago at the gas station). I am trying to drive back to AZ and have an event that I am running later for due to my car issues and I do not have time to wait at an auto-shop troubleshooting....so, I explain my situation, and btw I have 2 kids in the car. I tell him I still want to just buy the battery, please let me buy the battery and put it in the car, so I can be on my way. He adamantly refuses and won't tell me why, says he can call an autozone down the street to see if he will do it. I ask, "are you really telling me I cannot buy the battery? I don't understand why." He says it is a liability because "he" thinks it is not a battery issue, it could be the transmission. I am still confused, keep asking him, "and why can't I buy the battery"? He replies after a long time and much back and forth, that it is a liability because I might return the battery! I am getting really pissed because he is wasting my time. (I am a single mom with 2 kids in car and say, I will put it in myself!!!) He contemplates that for awhile and finally says well I can sell it to you. I said, forget it, and go to O-Reilly (across the street) where I am able to buy the battery and have it installed, no questions asked (and I tipped the guy). There is a very large training gap or some strange policies here. DO NOT COME HERE!!! P.S. The battery fixed the issue and car ran great the whole way home. read more

They refunded the first tool, and one of the employees ( i think associate parts manager) gave me good advice and i was able to get the correct tool and fix the oil filter! We planned a family trip to Big Bear for a couple nights and needed snow chains for our tires. If it weren't for Audelia right now I'd be giving AutoZone 2 stars because if you go on their website you can type in your car model or VIN and it will give you a list of whatever you're looking for that fits your car. Well originally I had done that, ordered the chains and the night before our trip I figured I should make sure I know how to put them on. Well I did but they were literally half the size it needed to be. First thing in the morning I went to the store and Audelia helped me through everything. Because of a shortage of chains she had to send me to a couple other stores to piece together everything I needed. I had a check engine light on and have always gone to various AutoZone's to have them scan for issues/codes, but Ramiro would not scan my car. I have NOT ever encountered a manager that feels it's OK for her to argue and make assumptions of something "SHE feels does not make sense " especially when she was NOT there during my dealing and help from Alex. Who is nice and have good customer service skills. Audelia can learn a thing or two from Alex. It's so inappropriate for a manager to go back and forth with a customer at store front to get the upper hand on something SHE clearly does not UNDERSTAND. I had to shut her down and requested a refund immediately to stop the continued unprofessionalism. I waited to approach Caroll Cashier/worker to get the manager's and her name. That's when I found out her name is Audelia and she's the manager. I was dumb founded and can't believe she's the manager! Audelia had the nerve to tell Caroll to help another customer first before speaking to me. I'm also a customer and was there first. Again another power trip she was having. How rude !! I don't even know where to begin. Thank you to Alex and Caitlin for helping me so much today! I had gone to Valvoline down the street who told me my brand new battery needed to be replaced immediately. I took it to firestone down the street, where they had replaced my battery and said it was good. I was told to go to Autozone for a third opinion. When I came here, these employees were amazing. Not only did they look at my car, but they immediately recognized that my battery terminal hadn't been replaced and was corroding the brand new battery already. I went back to Firestone, and they told me it wasn't that bad to need to be replaced. however they said they didn't have the positive part and told me to go back to autozone to buy it for them to install and replace. when I went back to autozone, I was told the parts are interchangeable and I was being scammed. not only did they know more and were more helpful than both Firestone and Valvoline, but they helped me replace my battery terminal. such knowledgeable and wonderful employees! I am forever grateful for y'all. I hate that these other companies continue to keep scamming their customers, but now I know I can trust Autozone. read more

Manny saved the day. What fantastic customer service. I had called with a particular predicament (break lights wouldn't turn off), and knew I needed a small part to fix it. He informed me they didn't currently have it in store, (could have it in the morning), but suggested I bring my car in to see what he could do. After sharing with him the rather stressful and unfortunate day I had, he seemed determined to make something work for me, so I could get home without a ticket or a dead battery the following day. After checking it out and making a makeshift/temporary replacement piece I needed, he told me it was free of charge. He took time out of his shift to help me and fix my car, and didn't charge me, because it was only a temporary until I could get it to the shop the next day. What a selfless and generous person! It's customer service like that, that will keep me coming back. He was informative and educated me on the problem, helpful, humble and above all, kind. Great customer service. I had to return a battery, and needed to borrow a little cart to get it. They saw that I had a baby in my arms and immediately, someone came up the front asked which was my car and where was the battery and just went out by himself to get the battery. It was a really easy experience to just swap out the old battery with a new one- they asked for the receipt, gave me $15 and I was on my way. I've had good service here honestly but today 2/8/18 a young man helped me to charge up my dead battery. They do it for free and if within warranty will replace it. He mentioned if it doesn't work they'll replace it as I knew, and then mentioned two hours to fully charge. I never received a call and I went in 4 hours later and they said the battery was good but hardly charged and to come back in an hour. I said that was unlikely and that it's faulty if it hadn't charged by now. He then said oh it's at 80% and I didn't have time so I proceeded to take it. I arrived home and installed it only for the car to have no signs of life. I believe they never charged it and didn't have to decency to inform me. read more
