The reason I don't like these types of platforms are because they are full of reviews from people…read morethat just do not seem reasonable. The towing business first of all is likely a very tough business to receive positive reviews. When a vehicle is towed it's likely because of 3 primary scenarios (an accident where the car is not able to be driven, a broken down vehicle, or a vehicle parked in a no parking spot.) Either of the listed scenarios are starting off with unhappy automobile owners so reviews are likely going to be positive. With all that said, I have recently had a car that was in a pretty bad accident...thankfully no one was injured by the grace of God! The Crystal Lake police officer was pretty awesome on her own and we are always thankful to our police! The officer called Ormsby Towing, owned by Tom Ormsby I have come to find out. This company has been in business since 1948! That's 76 years of being in business. They have countless of satisfied customers and reviews...some of these can be found on the following websites: Kelly Blue Book Reviews: https://www.kbb.com/dealers/crystal-lake-il/565567/ormsby-motors/ Google Reviews: https://www.google.com/search?q=ormsby+motors+google+reviews&sca_esv=d3224e15adc24c7c&rlz=1C1RXQR_enUS964US964&sxsrf=ADLYWIIaMKPhzRO7qKgE1J066ijY6pgm2Q%3A1724345334727&ei=9mvHZrWULLS2ptQP3t6aCQ&ved=0ahUKEwi155X5homIAxU0m4kEHV6vJgEQ4dUDCA8&uact=5&oq=ormsby+motors+google+reviews&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiHG9ybXNieSBtb3RvcnMgZ29vZ2xlIHJldmlld3MyCBAAGIAEGKIEMggQABiABBiiBDIIEAAYgAQYogQyCBAAGIAEGKIEMggQABiABBiiBEjMFlDrBVjsEnABeACQAQCYAWygAbIFqgEDNy4xuAEDyAEA-AEBmAIIoAKGBcICChAAGLADGNYEGEfCAgoQIxiABBgnGIoFwgIIEAAYogQYiQXCAggQIRigARjDBMICChAhGKABGMMEGAqYAwCIBgGQBgKSBwM3LjGgB4YS&sclient=gws-wiz-serp Okay, so with all these reviews averaging over 4 out of 5 stars, Yelp is for some reason is representing a little over 2 stars. My personal experience has been very favorable. BTW, I should mention, I have no ties or relations to the owner or management, or any employee of Ormsby's. I can tell you this, I was treated kindly by Tom Ormsby and he is fair and patient. He also could have easily charged my by the day that our totalled car was in his storage (locked, fully enclosed building). The car was kept safe and he was very nice to work with. I will absolutely be recommending his services to others I know and care about as well as, perhaps even purchase a car from him in the near future. You don't stay in business in the midwest for 78 years without offering something of value. Lastly, the Ormsby showroom is so clean that you literally could eat off the floor, even though I don't eat off of floors :-) I hope this review adds value to anyone looking for a towing or auto sales company.

YIKES I really never…read morepost reviews, but I feel like I HAVE to so that people know what they're getting into with this shop... Back in August my car got some body damage and was brought to ABRA Auto Body right by this shop. Well, it's alternator also decided to go out on me, so once the body shop fixed the body damage they graciously brought it to Ormsby since it was close (I live 2 hours away from Crystal Lake and was visiting my family when this all happened, so I wasn't nearby). Needless to say we got the alternator replaced and all went well. UNTIL about a month or 2 later when it started having problems again. We assumed the car was having new problems and just didn't have time to bring it to get checked out, so we replaced the battery... and that helped but didn't solve any of our problems. So we then brought it to a shop local to us and guess what? The alternator that this shop put into it was bad... so here we are, having to put another alternator into our car a few months later because Ormsby decided what our car needed was a bad alternator. So keep this in mind if you plan on going here... months down the line you may have to redo what you paid them to do...

I brought my vehicle directly into a CarMax location and handed the keys to an associate. About 10 minutes later, after they inspected the vehicle, I was given a $29,700 in-person offer. Based on that, I continued my process and also checked values at a couple other dealerships. After doing so, I returned to CarMax--and at that point, they reduced their offer to $23,000, citing "engine concerns." Here's the issue: The original offer was done in person, not online No written diagnostics or documentation were provided to support a $6,700 reduction When I asked to speak with the associate who originally inspected my vehicle (who was working at the time), management declined to involve her I was told they couldn't explain how the original offer was determined To me, this felt like a lack of transparency and consistency in the appraisal process. I understand offers can be adjusted--but a 22% drop after an in-person inspection, with no documentation, raises legitimate concerns. I've since filed a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's office and am sharing this so others know to get everything in writing and ask detailed questions before relying on an offer. Just something to be aware of if you're considering selling your vehicle to CarMax.

The sales people were friendly and helpful, although the scheduling process leaves a little to be desired. I still don't understand why 1) their website misleads you on which cars are at each location and 2) they would text me at 7:30 am asking me more questions about my 2:00 pm appointment. We didn't choose to buy from them primarily because the car we liked had a noise problem-- the Carmax team told us it was one thing, but our mechanic confirmed it was not what they claimed. Could not trust them after that even though Carmax offers a warranty. I did appreciate being given access to the Carfax report. Their prices are a little higher than others in town, but you don't have to haggle. Buying a used car is always a challenge. Carmax can be a good option depending upon your situation. It wasn't right for us to buy a 10 year old vehicle, but it might be better for someone who wants something newer with fewer mechanical liabilities.

Made me feel as if I was buying from a friend and I appreciated the fact that he was down to earth and friendly. Even encouraged me not to buy the car right away but to take some time to think about it. I was really impressed by that. I bought a Land Rover, which I know have been known to have computer problems. He assured me that he knew the owner and that the car had been taken care of. When I pulled the car fax it confirmed that the car had been only serviced at the Land Rover Dealership. He recommended a company to give me a warranty and had them call me to even set it up. I'm appreciative and would definitely recommend Auto Warehouse to anyone looking for a great used car

I had to run down to the bank to get a cashiers check and the bank manager said "are you working with Derek?" She proceeded to sing his praises and said that he had helped her with a car. I honestly won't buy another used car anywhere else.

The pictures he had of the vehicle made it appear in great shape with little to no rust. He was charging a huge premium for the 4runner, which made me think they must have done some extensive work to it before putting it on the market. Boy was I wrong! I accepted delivery about a week after purchasing the vehicle through Nicholas online. The 4runner smelled like dog, had less than a quarter tank of gas in it, and the rust is just really bad. The rims are rusted and bubbling, the frame is rusted, the engine, transmission, axles, nuts, bolts, clamps, all rusted. Nicholas sold me this vehicle that needs extensive work, knowing I was planning to use it to move my family and I when we PCS from California to Colorado. I can't believe an American business would do something like this to a military family. I wouldn't recommend boutique motors to my worst enemy. This 4runner is a huge stress/burden on myself and my family both mentally and financially during a time when we've already got so much on our plate. As if moving to another state wasn't expensive and stressful already, we have this to deal with. Shame on you Nicholas! I hope it was worth it for you.

First of all, we met the owner Nick and his wife and they seemed like really great, trustworthy people. We test drove a couple of vehicles and were interested in another vehicle but it was purchased by someone else, so we decided on another vehicle. We test drove it and thought it was perfect for our college student. Nick sold us on the fact that he has all vehicles inspected by a mechanic and any and all issues with the vehicles are fixed prior to selling them. I certainly take responsibility for trusting Nick and not taking the vehicle to a mechanic ourselves, but at this point it is what it is. We bought the vehicle for our college student and within 3 months, he was broken down on the side of the road for what appeared to be an issue with the transmission. We took the vehicle to a trusted mechanic and he discovered that there was an issue with the transmission and the drive axle and they needed to be replaced. All said and done, the repairs cost $2,000. The mechanic indicated that it was clear that someone attempted to do a temporary fix to the vehicle, which was done incorrectly and as a result ending up causing much more damage. In addition, there is a leak in the power steering with hoses that need to be replaced and some sort of valve leak (forgive me for my lack of knowledge about cars). We were told those could be put off for a few months. We tried calling and emailing Nick to discuss. We didn't ask him to do anything about it we just asked him to call us to discuss. Nick has not answered our calls or returned our emails or voicemails, which is very disappointing because he was well aware of our intention to purchase a second vehicle for him for our other college student. It has been a few weeks and still no return call/email, which speak volumes. If you purchase from Boutique Motors my suggestion would be to make sure you have a trusted mechanic due a full inspection of the vehicle.
