Buyer Beware - Major Undisclosed Damage at AutoNation I purchased a Lexus a little over 30 days ago. Shortly after delivery, the dealership kept the car for about a week for repairs, and upon return I discovered a new tire puncture and significant bumper damage that wasn't there before. I took it to Lexus, whose official report confirmed the bumper damage resulted from a major front-end accident prior to my purchase, even though the Carfax they provided only listed a "minor" accident. This is a serious misrepresentation and failure to disclose material defects. I have demanded a full unwind with complete refund of purchase price, taxes, and fees with no penalties, but the dealership has not resolved it, so I am currently speaking with my lawyer to pursue full restitution and am prepared to take further legal action. Warning to other buyers: Do not trust the Carfax reports here -- one of their managers even admitted they do not do thorough inspections before placing cars on the lot. This is a dishonest bait and switch business. They sent us an offer on my car of $8800.00 via email and texts. It appeared as a check in the offer made out to me. I felt it was a little low because I have kept my car interior as if it was brand new. It is a very luxurious car. When we went to their location at Mercedes Greenway they made us wait in the lounge while they took pictures of my car. I sat there for 2 hours and then they called me to their office to tell me the original offer was made by their AI and they would only offer $5500.00. They said it was because the front headlights were foggy and there were tiny paint dents and it needed 2 better tires. The car is 2014 and never in a collision and has very minor dings. A Bad Experience with a Satisfactory Resolution I shortened my review to summarize my experience and share with you what I have learned. -On Wednesday 4/30/2025 I purchased a 2012 VW Passat. -The dealership had me take delivery of this car that had a known defect (defective battery). -The dealership when alerted to the issue ignored me for two days until there was an in person confrontation over the defective battery. -On 5/2/2025, I started the process of contacting AutoNation's Corporate Relations Department, including their CEO. -Since early May, I have tried to work with AutoNation's Corporate Customer Relations Department without resolution. -On 6/3/2025, an executive AutoNation contacted me and started the process of resolution. -On 6/7/2025, I received a check for the reimbursement of direct and indirect expenses related to the dealership selling me a car that had a known defect. If a dealership fails to disclose an issue or lies about a car's condition, the buyer is entitled to file a lawsuit under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (DTPA). But as a consumer you have rights. During the discussions with the AutoNation executive, I was promised there would be an investigation that hopefully will hold two people accountable. To the rude General Manage that would not give me his name during the in person confrontation, I guess Corporate failed to stand behind you. Also to the supervisor or sales manager that lied about making calls, lets hope you are help accountable. read more

We decided sell our car. We have sold to private parties before, but we were contacted by this group so we gave it a try. We met with Richard first when we got there, and he informed us it would take 15 minutes to inspect, and another 45 minutes to process the paperwork and get our check. We were selling a garaged well cared for Lexus 2006 ES330. The offer was before a private sale but in the ballpark. I asked for $100 more than their offer, and the person said they needed mgr. approval. I said ok, but I'm like for $100 please. After waiting an additional 15 minutes for them to "call their mgr" hmmmm. I told my wife lets get our key and title and leave. The chased us down and said the deal was approved and we could get our check and go. It took another 1.5 hrs. to complete that process. We arrived at 3:45 and left at 6:47. We were very disappointed with the experience, and will not be using this business again in the future. We spent about 1.5 hrs in Lexus dealership purchasing our new vehicle with great effortless, easy, attentive service from the time we came in until we left. read more

Extended Warranty Do not purchase the extended warranty from any Autonation owned dealership!! They claim if you sell the car, the unused portion is fully refundable. IT IS NOT. My manufacturer warranty was not even expired when I traded in my car so the extended warranty was not used - yet they only refunded 40%. Complete scam. (This was at Range Rover in Katy) The dealership is awesome. Autonation corporate is not. Also, if you try to call them they are never accessible. I requested a refund several times (which they did not honor) The General Manager has still not returned any of my 14 messages. The Sales Manager - Alan Schmitt keeps saying the GM is "in a meeting" (expecting me to believe that I guess). After they had my car for 9 weeks after I bought it I finally go pick it up and there's even MORE Damage than when I had it towed into them. -- Side Mirror Broken -- Key FOB not working -- No gas -- All 4 tires low on air -- Oil change not done in over a year! -- Warning Lights On ( and that's just to name a few) Alan Schmitt says there's "nothing they can do" about any of these issues.) After sucking it up and taking my loss, I moved on. Spoke with my salesman at 10:30am, he advised me he would send over pictures and a pre-approval application immediately, 2pm hadn't heard from him. If I could give 0 stars I would. got a ram 1500 about a year ago from them. Straight off the lot the front break caliper wasn't fully on and was dragging once I got into my drive way. A week later the suspension had multiple problems. A couple of months later the engine blew ($16,000) and the "best warranty" they provide didn't cover the full cost of anything til this day and that's only the surface of problems I had with the truck. Just to add, the A/C went fully out, water pump, Headlights, lights inside the truck, and now today more suspension problems and they still don't even want to cover the full cost. In one word it was a nightmare. This would be negative Stars. I flew into Houston from the West Coast with my deal already in hand. Ready to buy a truck from them. Turns out the truck had been deleted and was throwing codes and that is illegal in the United States to delete an emission system.. some will argue. It's okay in Texas. Well that's fine. Everybody doesn't live in Texas. So they said they could put me in another truck for the same price and drove me over to look at the vehicle at the BMW dealership nearby. When I returned the next morning, they stated we cannot put you in that truck for the same price. We can put you in that truck for $5,000 more. I stated you were going to put me in it for the same price yesterday. What happened and they stammered and stammered and said well I can't sell you the truck cuz it hasn't cleared the shop. I said wait a minute, your finance manager was going to sell it to me 5 minutes ago for $5,000. Needless to say I'm stuck in Houston for 3 days going on for no vehicle. Nothing but hotel costs and rental car cost. Trying to find another truck that was not illegal. Are someone at least wouldn't lie to me like they did. It's a shame that you cannot buy a car from somebody with integrity. This place has zero integrity. All they care about is the bottom line, not their customers. That's all a sham. And then their process of running so many people at you. You don't even know who you're dealing with at the end of the day or who's in charge. Most of them are just standing around high-fiving. I appraised my car this weekend. My engine light was on so I was ok if appraisal was way below KBB price. Appraiser gave me a price, and told me the offer was valid for 7 days. They did not give me a written statement and told me it was ok. This is my mistake, I should have insisted. When I came back today to sell the car, they realized only today that the car had a major fault and offered me 1K less. I was stuck, I had refused better offers this weekend and I had to get rid of the car, so I had to accept. Did not receive any compensation for the loss. Trust is one of the most important thing when doing business. Autonation has none. My assessment: No skills, no word, no shame. 1. No skills: they identified as minor an engine issue that turned into a huge thing over 2 days - I did not drive my car since the weekend. The first person I interacted with with Adam he was extremely rude and very snarky. There was a point where I had to ask him "did the middle of my sentence interrupt the beginning of his". He would not stop talking over me and would not let me complete a sentence. I explained to him that he was being extremely snarky. When I requested to speak to the manager he said that he was the manager and I told that there was absolutely no way that someone left him in charge of their business and I wanted to speak to the manager over everyone. He makes a phone call and then a young man named Caesar comes out. From Caesars demeanor I could immediately tell he was not the manager. So my first question to him was "are you the general manager". And no point should a representative falsely represent themselves as the manager. Anyone looking for a new car I strongly urge you to go somewhere else. I feel like I was discriminated against because of my alternative lifestyle. Kelvin and Tylen werr great! Very accommodating and hard-working! However Caesar and Adam completely ruined my experience. Every opportunity that I get I am going to strongly recommend that no one comes here. I hope this review reaches everyone that it needs to because poor customer service and especially being rude to a client is u acceptable.
