This was an incredibly frustrating experience, I discovered the vehicle was sold with critical maintenance issues like a dry engine and a dirty air filter, only to face a major transmission failure shortly after. Discovering these problems within just 30 days and being told the warranty just expired, despite the severe mechanical issues, is unacceptable. The dealership responded by offering a predatory trade-in value which was 5000 less than the purchased price they deflected responsibility after selling a lemon. Potential buyers should be aware of their business practices. I brought my car in to have the AC checked as it was not blowing cold. Also, check to see why the passenger window switch wasn't working. After 2 days I received a text telling me that I owed then $407.98 for the inspection. The AC problem would require another $537.00 to give me an estimate of what it would cost to do the repairs. So far I am down $737.00 and STILL don't know what the problem is or how much it will cost to do the repairs. The window switch would be another $653.00 to repair. I had a great experience with AutoNation. I initially spoke with Ron, the sales manager, who was very friendly and was happy to hear what I needed. He put me together with my salesperson Dylan, and while I came prepared and knowledgeable in what I was buying, Dylan was sure to find some info that I didn't already have and I appreciated that he didn't try to oversell me on anything. The standard offers were laid out but he accepted that I knew what I wanted. In the finance office I dealt with Josh who was very personable and we had a great time exploring our shared musical interests which really helped the mundane process of the 175 signature blocks. I'm absolutely positive that everyone there met me with a smile and nobody was afraid to stop and have a conversation with me about the music we were listening to while I waited. My car has some kind of issue in which 3 mechanics all said to take it to the dealer. So I did. Hannibal was so amazing. He did a diagnostic and tried to find the problem but couldn't. After I took my car the problem happened and I called them. Hannibal, personally, came out to check my car, to jump it and follow me back to the dealer. Turned out when I had a new battery put in they never tightened all the wires. So far it's running great. I would definitely come back just for his help. read more

Online, you're able to reserve a car for 72 hours. In fact, their website states, "We'll hold onto this vehicle for 72 hours so no one else can claim it but you." I found a car I liked, I reserved it and scheduled an appointment for Saturday. I received an email confirming my reservation of the vehicle, and that I had until Sunday until that reservation expired. Then, I receive an email saying the car has been sold. When I asked how that could be, as I reserved it, I was told I needed to speak with Jerry, the used vehicle sales manager. How Jerry works in customer service I have no idea. He is the archetypical used car salesman. He refused to explain their reservation policy. When I couldn't think of the car model immediately (sorry, I have a traumatic brain injury and finding words is extremely difficult), he cut me off and told me he didn't have time for this. When I asked him to wait a moment, so I could pull up my email and get him the information, I was again told he had no time for "this." Honestly, after his treatment of me, I will never shop at AutoNation, and I can assure you I'll tell every person I know that this place is shady AF, and cares not about their promises to their customers. read more

I just had the same bad experience reported by others to the lack of respect to possibly buyer in this dealer. They just care about how fast they can get money in. I was in the middle of conversations and negotiations (credit ran and approved) to get a lower finance rate when suddenly, and with an agreement to move forward, they communicated to me (after calling, emailing and texting in multiple occasions) that the car was sold to someone else three days ago (meaning they were making negotiations with me) in a car already sold. They are not trust worthy and gave no respect to customers in middle of negotiations of a $77,000 dollar car. They are far from providing a great buying experience and will not recommend this dealer to anyone. I would not take my vehicle here for service ever again. I have had my car for seven years now, and after my "service," I noticed that my vehicle was shaking. The only other time I had this item was when my oil cap was not put back on after service. I decided to change my oil, and it was low and was changed as it should have been. I love my Dodge Charger RT and it's my happy place, so it was upsetting when 6 months later it had a suspension knock coming from the front end, and warning lamps flashing. I took the car in, and my car's service was managed by Courtney who worked hard on my behalf to ensure the necessary repairs were made properly. Courtney stayed in constant contact with me throughout the time my car was in the shop, made sure I got maximum value for my warranty, and went Above & Beyond to get me a (free-to-me) rental car while my car was being repaired, so I didn't miss any time at work, or suffer any personal inconvenience. I'll come in after the holidays." This was New Year's Eve. We corresponded New Year's day (a Friday) and I said I'd be in the following Mon to pick up. The email reply I rec'd was "Ok." Today I get a text the car was sold. This is AFTER I not only gave my debit card # (thinking the down payment was being taken out), but put the car on my insurance and forwarded the new insurance card. Today I was told that they don't take deposits on used cars and the salesman had not run my debit card. WTF was that charade about? Just tell me I need to come in the same day I put give the down payment or it could be sold. Or do what you say you are going to do and let me pick it up "at my convenience." This Autonation Timonium location owns my worst experience, we bought a car from them 4 years ago and when it came time to sell it we thought it was a good idea to use them again, I was so wrong. On December 7 2023 we gave them title/car keys and finance release letter( the car was paid off), they kept saying that they need finance letter for 2 weeks but we went ahead and ordered it again, then they came back saying that new title is needed( it took another month to get it, once title arrived on January 22 2024 they said all look good and we are sending you the check, we waited another week but check never arrived, on January 29 2024 I followed up and no response. On February 1st I left negative review and in about 10 min was told by GM to come pick up the car. I have contacted customer relations and still waiting to hear from them which will probably never happen. Yes now after 2 months we will take the car somewhere else, we lost few $$$ on it by now, but I hope you will loose a lot more. What a nightmare it has been!!!! read more

I purchased a 2008 Corolla from Clifford Bruck at Autonation. Very smooth purchasing process, no blindsided costs and the price was fair...on the higher end but fairly priced for the above-average condition of the vehicle that I purchase. They will not move on negotiation, but you can always play the waiting game (prices will drop if the inventory has been sitting on the lot for a while, but you run the risk that somebody else buys the car while you're waiting). That said, they do love to push the dealer warranties, so you just have to keep declining every 15 minutes. These guys have some used cars that came from dealer auction (like mine) which unfortunately may come with an incomplete maintenance history. As always with buying an as-is used car, please do your research and get a prepurchase inspection from a trusted mechanic if you are not mechanically inclined. Unfortunately, even with a PPI, your car may still have mechanical problems in the future, especially if it's an older car. Overall, it was as expected when buying a 12 year old car...I've had my car for 6 months now and no major issues aside from changing the serpentine belt myself and replacing the door catches which were worn out from previous owner's use. Got 4 refurbed rims put on my 2010 camaro, amongst other things, and apparently handing a car over to a client with 4 different colored rims is acceptable in their book. But wait it gets better, the Monster's Inc. slug that works at the body shop (main lady) was so disrespectful to me and my girlfriend after I returned to the shop to explain my dissatisfaction that she called me after we left with a half assed apology, practically begging me to forgive her. It was honestly the most pathetic thing I've experienced in my life. This lady rolled her eyes and went "UGHHH" when she saw me returning, before I even entered their tiny office area, so loud that I could hear it through the closed, glass door -- then blurts out "what's wrong" before I could even speak. I express my concern and some idiot next to her literally admits how they ordered the wrong colored rims 7 different times (basically saying they know what I'm talking about).. then the Monster's Inc slug starts glaring at the other girl that was admitting to it - so then she starts back pedaling saying some BS about how my rims look different colors depending on the angle and sunlight due to the hypergrey color of my rims. NEWS FLASH.. my rims weren't that color from the factory. So after giving me the runaround on an issue they knowingly, fraudulently lied about - my gf gives them a chance before we go to the insurance adjuster --to which the slug lady said "Go ahead! It's not like they'll come out anyway, they havent come out the past 3 adjustments". So now they're implying that that they milk the insurance companies when they realize an adjuster isnt attentive. What idiots! Was literally about to start a case against this shop and decided its not worth the time. Instead I just tell everyone I know about it -and you should to! And guess what- after twisting their arm for days they finally agree to repaint the rims, but Jason literally denied denied denied the whole time never admitting what happened. I still have no clue how 4 different colored rims got on my car - even worse is that it still looks like crap after the "fixed it". Oh wait, AND they charged my insurance for the followup repair, mind you -for a mistake THEY made. Falls in line with the whole scammer/fraud thing I was saying. Had my car towed to this dealer for a tire repair. One week later and it took me to throw a fit to get it back asked to speak with the service manager no return call. I have a tire policy which I told them about when they received the car. Went to pick it up after they had it for an entire week and they charged me for the tire never ran it through the tire policy at all. I will never take my car back again. Very disappointed. My son and I were looking for a used car for him. We choose to look at a car at this dealership because it was a dealership and not a used car lot. It had a clean car fax and they told us it was in great shape. The car looked perfect but they wouldn't let us take to to our shop (which was understandable since we're from Virginia). They wouldn't negotiate at all, but it was a pretty good price. They did have a 3 day, 250 mile return policy so we purchased the car. We took it to our shop and our mechanic said he wouldn't even touch this vehicle. It had been in a front end collision and had been welded back together. The frame was rusted to the point there were chunks of metal clearly visible and large holes. I called to tell the salesman the issues and that I wanted to return the car. His response was "ok." Ok? That's it? No surprise? No apology? Nothing? Unbelievable. I thought I could trust a dealership of this size, but sadly they are no better than any used car lot. They'll sell a useless car and hope you don't notice it until it's too late. We would not have made it back in within the 250 mile limit and, after being deceived about the car, I was not going to trust them if we had gone over the limit even by a single mile. I had the car towed back to them. This experienced cost us $320 between the inspection and towing, but it saved us thousands. It proved once again never to trust a used car sales person. read more

I brought my car in about two weeks ago. My car had died twice in traffic. I thought it was an alternator problem, since I had replaced the battery. They "checked" the alternator and found no problems. They then found a number of other problems with the car, and replaced a few parts, which I did OK as I figured they thought those repairs would fix the problem and regardless, were legitimate problems. They kept my car for a week. Apparently those repairs were not related to my actual, immediate problem. My car died again, in the exact same fashion, just three days after I got it back from them. I took it to Pikesville Automotive who test drove my car for ten miles and found that...surprise, surprise...my alternator intermittently shut down. They replaced it and then test drove it again. They also let the car run for an hour to see if my problems arose. I had my car back in two days. As of three days after the fact, my car seems just fine. AutoNation did fix legitimate problems with my car...just not the one I brought it to them for. All in all I was out $800, without a car for a week, and still had my problem. I wouldn't recommend them, and I'll never return. read more

I wish I could give zero star, THIS PLACE IS A JOKE, I took my Camaro 2016 to collision center to fix a issue but they broke my damn speakers, before I take my car to their shop my speakers were working perfectly fine, once I took it back EVERY DAMN THING in my car was messed up They had charged my insurance over 12,000 and I have no damn idea why. When I drove 65 miles back to the dealership to get this issue fix their manager Jason told me that this problem is from your iPhone. The moment he said I figured that people working there do not have the enough knowledge about their jobs. Now I have to take this headache and go to a different place and pay out of packet to fix a issue where these people had me in. When I called the dealership, I was told I should have purchased an extended warranty and an oil leak is an "AS-IS" item. I purchased a used non-general motors vehicle from this dealership a few months back. My experience here as a first-time car buyer left me with a rather bad taste in my mouth. The salesman with whom I purchased my car approached me with indifference. I was not treated like a serious buyer, and my test drive was no more in depth than a 1 mile cruise on easygoing neighborhood streets. I was unable to get a good idea of what I was getting into, and my saving grace was a pre-purchase inspection by my trusted mechanic. Thankfully, AutoNation included a repair order detailing the work done to the vehicle to prepare it for purchase and the work checked out. The vehicle was delivered to me rather dirty, and with little fuel. Thankfully the latter issue was rectified the following day. In the week following my purchase, I found that the vehicle incurred rodent damage while on the lot, and was forced to pay money out of pocket to regain the comfort access function. This couldn't reasonably have been discovered until I lost the function, but rodent damage is something to be wary of if purchasing from here and most other dealerships in this area. This is often not covered by manufacturer warranty. Otherwise, the car is low-mileage, was a fair (but non-negotiable) price, and was well-documented. This was just a case of the right vehicle being at the wrong dealership. Now, following my purchase it took 2 months before I received the title in the mail. I financed my vehicle through my bank, which was not listed as a lien holder on the title. I began receiving letters from my financial institution notifying me that without proof of security interest, I would be in default of my car loan. This was a mistake that I paid to have done correctly in tag, title, and license fees when I bought the car. As a result, I spent an entire day running around between MVA and bank branches to resolve the problem, and had to pay fees to file the lien holder to my title. Not to mention that I technically owned the car outright according to the state for a while there... which seems like a massive oversight. Overall, my experience with AutoNation was a huge headache and I'm glad to be free of their clutches. A lot of this could've been avoided with adequate communication. read more

Unfortunately I was sold a heap of scrap metal... February I purchased a GMC yukon, not even 30 days later my check engine light was on. Apparently I had a transmission leak which was not covered under the warranty I had purchased. The staff at this location did not seem bothered by the issue or my unhappiness at all. I was told "I don't like to pay for things in life either" when I stressed my concern of having to pay for the repair out of my pocket so soon after purchasing the vehicle. I paid and moved on. A few weeks later engine light back on this time reading a fuel evap, I was told replace the gas cap. I replaced the gas cap but here we are still having a problem. The back side of my vehicle smells like gasoline, inside and out. I have never had. a bad experience with a dealership like I did here. Never again. read more
