Have lived a handful of blocks from this auto repair place for 15 years and never knew it was…read morethere, yet it occupies nearly an entire block of Niagara street. I think it is our new auto go-to place for most any automobile needs. I took Lynette's car in for an inspection this morning. She knew it was going to need at least one tire (it needed two) and that the wipers were starting to shred. But there was also a clunk that two other places had not been able to locate the problem, and two days ago the hood latch had broken. Max and the crew did it all. Marylou at the service counter provided friendly and courteous interaction and information. Sammy's began on Tupper St. in 1955 and has been on Niagara St. for the past 20 years. They do collision, towing, inspections, mechanics ...and hood latch repair. The clunk? "Over certain bumps or potholes, the exhaust pipe had been hitting the drive shaft." He however referred me to another shop that he believed would be better suited to complete the in-depth inspection as the other shop would be able to specialize in the inspection that I am looking to get done. Although I never had my car serviced here, nor do I think I'll ever get the chance to as I live in southern California, I could only imagine the type of quality work that he does with how honestly he runs his business and looks out for strangers that he's never even met.

On a whim, I asked if they had any appointments for Saturday and Chris was kind enough to add me in! When I got there, he was able to complete the inspection in such a timely manner and the service was so friendly. It was as in good of a shape as a car from California, as I am always worried about rust due to it being from NY. Looks like previous owner was taking his Corvette out only on sunny, dry days. I asked for honesty in the offer with all things considered, as I wanted to ensure before making the drive out it wouldn't be a waste of time. I was then told they'd get me close to my asking price. I show up to the dealership (over 30 minute drive from my house) just to find out the gentlemen who I had been in contact with left the dealership for a hair cut. I was then greeted by his "partner". I gave them the keys and waited there an hour before getting any information about what they were doing with my car. The "partner" came back with my keys and a laundry list of things they said the car needed (as I had stated it was far from perfect). He then proceeded to offer me half of my asking price. They have something that is missing from a lot of places: Honesty and reasonableness. Mike, the owner went above and beyond on my second visit to Auto Works by bringing my car back to me at Home Depot where I work. It's only about 2 blocks away but it was a cold and windy winter night so I really appreciated this extra touch. Service was good, however they charged me $50 which I felt was rather expensive for a litre and a half of oil and a bit of coolant (air in the tires was free). Everything seemed to go well and the car drove a bit smoother after the alignment. The owner remarked that the car definitely needed it as well. The price was reasonable. It would have been five stars if there was wifi. There seemed to be a network, but I didn't ask for the password because when I asked on the phone when scheduling, the women said there was no public wifi. Just a bit annoying to be in a waiting area for an hour with no access to wifi during working hours. I'll definitely come back here if needing another alignment, but I'd probably opt to drop the car off & come back next time.
