Where to start... First and foremost my dealing with Tim was A++++, my family and I would highly recommend Autobahn West for any future purchases. My journey to finding the right 2011 BMW 335d started locally to me in Portland/Vancouver. Finding numerous examples and wasting my time to even go look at them. Talking to non-knowledgeable people and driving piles of crap really started to wear on me. So I decided to expand my search to the neighboring states and that is where I had found Autobahn West Enterprises "Tim Yost". Tim had the perfect example that we were looking for in the 335d with low miles and great history of previous ownership. Tim answered every question I had about the vehicle and exceeded my expectations. Tim's knowledge and customer service are top notch. Next was for me to complete the funding from my end which proved to be somewhat difficult as my bank would not approve and out of state deal. Feeling let down and surely thought the car was going to sell before I could secure funding, I called Tim and gave him the news, I surely thought Tim was going to tell me tough luck bud, but to my surprise Tim tried his best to help me with securing funding and also assured me he would not sell the car to anyone else until I gave him the for sure answer if I couldn't purchase the car. Depressed and beaten down I gave it one more go with another local credit union to me and sure as the sun shines they were able to approve the funding for the purchase. With excitement I called Tim and gave him the exciting news and was so happy with how patient he was with us through the whole ordeal with funding. Next we sourced the plane flights to San Diego, where Autobahn/Tim offered airport pickup shuttle. Tim picked my family and I from the airport and shuttled us all the way to Autobahn, where we got our first chance to see the car in person and we were in awe as it was exactly what we were looking for and so happy to have finally found it. Tim took extra time out of his day to even tell us about San Diego and places to see if we were staying for a few days. My family and I appreciate Tim and are very glad to have met Tim and his wife. Tim provided a very good experience when I was in the market for a F15 X5 M-sport. Tim is very knowledgeable, in particular with BMW vehicles. Tim replied promptly to all my requests and questions. Upon arriving from LA, Tim had the X5 ready to be inspected and test driven for me! The X5 was in GREAT condition. Unfortunately, due to logistics and my hectic schedule, I settled on another X5 closer to my house (it was also the color I preferred)...... With that said, I still regret not buying the white X5 m-sport from Tim as it was in PERFECT condition. Can't believe all the great reviews. BLUF: told me the car was babied by his friend, turns out it was a tuner car that all the aftermarket parts where removed from, and stock parts replaced without securing. Car has been in and out of shop for last 2 yrs. Finally figured out multiple loose forced air induction components this weekend when I did the research and got under the car myself. Full story below. I brought a 2013 335i M-sport from Tim in 2017. Even paid an unfair price because low miles and the 6 speed manual was rare. This car was owned by a "friend" of his who he said took excellent care of the car and "babied it". He provided a comprehensive inspection, and put his name behind it. What I have come to find out, is this car was driven like a race car by the previous owner. For those familiar, I can tell it had a full bolt on (FBO) to increase the horsepower. I know that because the car has thrown drivetrain malfunction codes since I got it. I have been in and out of private shops and the dealer this last two yrs. $4K later of replacing valve cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket, front crank seal, etc. It become clear all the seals where failing because the car had been under increased boost from most likely a tune. You would think the nightmare ends there; wrong! After all this work, still throwing codes! I smoke tested the car for more leaks, and smoke poured from the charge pipe. Now, how do I know there was a Full Bolt On? As I went to change the charge pipe this weekend, there were no O-ring in it. Image my further surprise when the original front mount intercooler (FMIC) was installed with aftermarket bolts, and not the stock Torx screws. Further investigation showed the housing of the air intake was broken from prior removal, and the air inlet to the turbo was not attached to anything in car! It was missing the 10mm nut and the Torx screw. It has been floating around in engine compartment for the last 2 yrs causing me to loose boost and throw codes. Also, think about the other headaches involved in a situation like this. The hassle of finding alternative means of travel to work while the car has been in the shop, getting nickel and dimed by different shops because they have no idea of what's going on (you don't expect a technician to place parts without nuts and screws in them), and the fact that I had transport the car across the country to my next duty station (active duty Navy) without being able trust that the car could make it. To his credit, he highly recommend an extended warranty for an extra $4400. Overall, it has covered about 1/3rd of the associated shop costs and nearly paid for itself. read more

I was referred to Autobahn West from my father who had previously bought a car there. I was extremely skeptical about buying a car from an independent car dealer as I have been through one of the worst "auto fraud" situations with another independent dealer. The owner, Tim, was very easy going and helped change my opinion about independent dealers. My buying experience was top notch. I had a very specific list of requirements for my new (used) car and Tim was very accommodating. I had to have a 2012 3 Series with low miles that had a back-up camera. I contacted Tim via the phone to come take a look at a BMW X5, and after coordinating a time, we joked about how my name was Austin, where the upcoming Formula 1 race was located. After arriving at the shop/showroom in El Cajon, it was apparent that the entire place was well manicured and clean. If I could give AutoBahn West and Tim Yost 10 stars I would. This guy is the real deal for BMW"s and performance cars. You can tell Tim has a real passion for what he does, along with having extensive experience in owning and modifying High Performance cars. Where do I start? Well, Tim is in California while we live in Michigan. Right there you would think 'non-starter', but my wife was set on a very specific, harder to find, X1 xDrive35i M-Sport edition fully loaded with low miles. Tim was a pleasure to work with; the type of guy you'd love to just take out for a beer if you were ever in the area as a further thanks. He was very forthcoming in regards to any questions I had and was more than helpful in working through my purchasing options. Purchasing a car sight unseen is a nerve racking experience and Tim was able to provide any/all additional information I needed to ease our concerns. In doing my diligence and calling around to local shops to do a 3rd party inspection, Tim's name was synonymous with very high quality cars. One BMW tuner shop, literally around the corner, even went so far as to admit that they buy their personal cars through Tim given how he has a knack for finding great BMWs. When we decided to take the 'chance' and make the purchase, we had to deal with the next issue - how do we get the car from California to Michigan? Tim works with a transport company and was able to get the most attractive quote I could find to have the car delivered across the country (in 3 days nonetheless). All we had to do was sign the paperwork and send the wire and the car showed up 3 days later (sadly I couldn't keep any of the Porsche's or Range Rovers the car was transported with ha-ha). All said and done, I am not sure what I am more pleasantly surprised with, the fact that the car exceeded our high expectations for what condition it was in and getting it at a great price, or the fact that we were able to find a human being all the way across the country, in the used car business, who under promises and over-delivers. I bought my first car off a lot from here a month or 2 ago a 2007 Infiniti M45S I loved the car and the condition it was in. When I seen it I had to get it so I stopped by for a test drive and everything seemed fine. I purchased the car the next day and by the end of the day the check engine light came on. I was hella pissed because I felt like the car was in almost perfect condition. I had a mechanic run the codes and it was the crankshaft and camshaft sensors, as well as a sensor on the front right tire.I had to spend 500 dollars for parts and labor to replace all 4 sensors 2 camshaft and 2 crankshaft. I didn't replace the tire one because it doesn't really effect how the car drives. The camshaft and crankshaft sensors made starting the car trouble sometimes as well as accelerating on its own at times so that was a mandatory fix. Since then the car has been fine no problems I love the car. Oh and both of the windshield wipers had to be replaced as well. I was really disappointed because I didn't want to purchase a car i would have had to put more money in but I mean you get what you pay for I guess. The guy who sold me the car was really nice but basically is a bmw guy so I'm sure the Infiniti wasn't a hot commodity to him and he just wanted to sell it. I'd probably bring a mechanic with you to look over your car before you purchase unless you want to end up putting a few more hundred dollars into your car for maintenance. In response: the mechanic told me the codes were most likely cleared in the past. I didn't leave a negative review I simply stated the pros and cons of your business in my experience. I was actually going to talk to you about the maintenance when I was supposed to pick up the license plates from you. But you mailed them to me even though I said I would pick them up. Had been looking for a new used BMW for years, and came upon the perfect car at the perfect price at Autobahn West. I was a little hesitant to buy from a private seller, but after talking and dealing with Tim, I bought the car. He is a total German car freak, and only buys and sells the best. Where do I start.. if you want to buy a bmw from someone who is more than just a salesman, Tim at autobahn west is where to go. He is an enthusiast with a passion for bmws. He seemingly knew everything there was to know even when it came down to the history of bmws or where a specific type of leather was manufactured. He was very accommodating during the buying process. And, he only sells vehicles that are in tip top shape. None of these cars you check on Craigslist or autotrader that when you go see the vehicle, it looks horrible. The bmw I bought was in the best shape amongst almost 8 that I looked at between san diego and Huntington Beach. Fast forward almost 2 years later. I contact tim to see if my vehicle is still under warranty. He let's me know that it is and lists what type of issues to look for and even suggests a place to take my car to. Unfortunately for me I ran into several issues with service at the place I brought my car to. I maintained a diplomatic attitude and sent tim another email. I thanked him for always having the best customer service but also advised him of the issues I had with the service I received. He let me know that he would do everything to help me out, including contact the dealer to speak with the manager. I get a phone call the next day from the service manager and we were able to iron out all the issues. I send one more email to tim thanking him for going above and beyond even well after our transaction had ended. I couldn't have asked for better customer service from Tim. Thanks again. read more

Tim, the owner, is one of the most honest, trustworthy and respected individuals in the business. He sells high quality cars at reasonable prices, has great communication skills (always responds to emails and calls in a timely manner) and is just an all around nice guy. I purchased a used (practically new condition) BMW through him in which he beat everyone else's price, met me at the airport with paperwork and keys and was extremely accommodating the entire time. I knew exactly the year, make and color BMW I wanted and what the price range should be. A BMW dealership near Los Angeles offered me one at a considerably better price than any of the San Diego county dealers would do. I was planning to drive up there to take delivery when I noticed a new Auto Trader ad for a nearly identical vehicle available at Autobahn West in El Cajon. I sent an e-mail inquiry to Tim Yost, the owner of Autobahn West, who promptly responded with the details including a dealer printout of the complete vehicle history. Tim is honest, straight forward, knowledgeable, and thoroughly likable, welcome traits in a car dealer. Yesterday I went to look at the car and bought it on the spot. The car, a 2011 335d with 10,100 miles and 40 months of remaining factory warranty, is immaculate inside and out, not a scratch on it. The purchase process was short and sweet. I had my written offer on the out of town car with me, expecting that at best Tim would be willing to match it. He immediately made me a better offer without so much as a sentence of the usual salesman game playing. What a pleasant experience! The Autobahn West internet site is well designed with time saving information on inventory, upgrade services, and dealership history. Racing fans and buyers of high performance vehicles in particular will enjoy Tim's broad knowledge of the subjects in general and BMWs in particular. I purchased a 2013 M5 from Tim in January 2018, and the entire process was an absolute pleasure. I found the car online on a Saturday and immediately called Autobahn West. I left a voicemail (it was the weekend), and Tim promptly returned my call on Monday morning. I was traveling out of state at the time, and Tim held the car for me for a few days after I placed a small deposit. When I made it to Tim's shop to see and test drive the car, the car was in impeccable shape - it was 4+ years old but looked barely used. Overall, Tim was super knowledgeable about BMWs, very courteous, and definitely not aggressive like a typical car salesperson. The pricing for the car was also very reasonable given that it was in amazing shape, had one previous owner, and had a manual transmission (a rare find). Buying a BMW from Tim was the single best car buying experience I have had in my life. My 328i was totaled and I went to see Tim hoping to replace it with something similar. Tim has a drool-worthy portfolio of used Beemers, both in terms of models and interesting combinations of options and colors. Before long I was tempted by a gorgeous loaded 335i in near new condition. I let Tim know my budget from the insurance money and he made me an absolutely incredible offer. For little more than I paid for my 328 he got me into the car of my dreams. He took care of all the licensing, DMV, and registration paperwork in a matter of minutes and when I picked up the car it was detailed to a T. Tim was incredibly professional, patient, and knowledgeable. We had at least two conversations over the phone where a quick question turned into fun, wide ranging talks about BMWs. He clearly loves these cars and his expertise is evident. The cars he sells are hand-picked, hard to find, interesting, well-priced beemers.
