Not at all thrilled with the service received from Autobahn. Pricing felt high for the service we received. Our Mini had a coolant leak so it was taken in for a diagnostic check, they determined it was the water pump. Diag is charged separate from the actual job needing done. Appointment was made to have it replaced. Car was dropped off with them saying they only needed it for a full day, that was a relief as both of us commute to work. So, we made arrangements to be without the car for that day. Unfortunately, we get the call that the car wasn't done when promised because they received the wrong part, frustrating on our end but stuff happens, I guess. We complain about the frustration and inconvenience of not having the car for the second day and the service writer offers a discount, which I thought was a nice gesture. Turns out his idea of an inconvenience was worth about $3 because that's how much of a discount he provided. Pretty insulting. Onto the actual service provided. Upon reviewing the receipt, I questioned the perceived subpar quality of water pump they installed. It was an off brand, and in my experience (30 years of shadetree experience), a low-quality part. And with the extensive amount of labor involved to replace said part, I was not happy. I was assured by the writer it was a quality part with him specifically stating "it has a metal impeller". Fast forward 8 or so months, the supercharger fails and needs replaced. On these Minis, the water pump is attached to the supercharger so it has to come back out. We chose a different shop to do the supercharger install and they advised to just do the water pump while it was apart so we did and in the end, we retained all of the parts that were removed. Low and behold, the water pump installed by Autobahn was NOT a metal impeller as promised by the writer. So that means he was either lying about it being metal or was incompetent and didn't actually know if it was or not. Either way, this is totally unacceptable and we will never be back to support this business. read more

My Mercedes dashboard indicated a problem with my battery so I stopped by and they were able to squeeze me in right away to check out the battery and found out the smaller of the two batteries and my diesel Mercedes is defective and they were going to order it and install it right away so great service and they do good follow up. Also they've worked on my VW Touraeg And did a good job on that as well read more

Avoid taking your car to the dealership mechanic and just bring it here to these guys. There's no BS here, the best customer service. I will continue to bring my Q7 TDI here because they are honest, their pricing is very competitive and they tell you everything they find. Service is quick and detailed. 100/10. My Mercedes needed new motor mounts after 17 years. Autobahn replaced all of the mounts and gave good service. In inspecting the car, the mechanic noted oil leakage from a front air shock. The local dealer had diagnosed the leakage as a windshield washer fluid leak and replaced a hose for $$$. When the shocks require replacement, I intend to use Autobahn again read more

Time to revisit one of the best German Automotive shops in Reno, NV. Our Audi A6 was due for an oil service and an all around look over. Called up the Autobahn crew, got placed on their calendar. Drop off was an ease and got to see a Dodge Viper in the shop while I was loitering on scene. The crew called me up around 330pm telling me the A6 was ready to be collected. I rolled in, shot the sh*t with Rick about all the track time my wife had logged on the I-580 lately. Rick sent me out the door reassured our supercharged baby was good to go. If you are in the Reno/Sparks area and have a German car, passing through and your German car breaks down, or just want to add some sweet modifications to your ride, this is the place. Autobahn is an upfront and honest run mechanic shop. They don't just replace stuff because a service advisor at the Stealership told them numbers are low we need to make money. Very pleased with their responsiveness, communication and mechanical work. I was able to get the car into the shop within a couple days, unlike with the dealer. As with all high mileage cars diagnostic work is often a process and involves some discovery. When you own a German car in particular it's good to give a good mechanic some discretion, let them make recommendations, etc. I have 180,000+ miles on my Audi and was very pleased with their ability to identify issues, suggest and properly make repairs. The mechanic also replaced a few gaskets while the engine was opened-up. The electrical and mechanical issues that brought there were resolved and my car is now running great! Given the high cost of new vehicles, investing in a well-maintained car is a better overall value. read more

I sent my daughter's VW GTI to Autobahn Specialties for repair based only on the facts that they specialize in VW and aren't the dealer (with the outrageous shop rates). The front desk staff were friendly and upfront about the known cost of one repair and they gave me an estimate for the diagnostic for the other. Fortunately, the second repair was simple and they let me know the problem and the cost. They kept in contact with me and explained a slight delay on the the first issue which was the result of a poorly manufactured replacement part needing to be re-ordered. My daughter is back on the road for less than I expected. read more

Most likely the best European shop for reliable service and tuning for your European vehicle. Took my S6 in there for a stage one tune from APR and was able to get it done in less than an hour the technician was very knowledgeable when it came to the questions about the tune and what kind of numbers I would probably get from the tune itself. They know their stuff and I feel comfortable taking my car back to them if ever need for tuning or anything requiring modifications. This shop WILL put faulty part/s in your car. This shop WILL NOT garuntee their work. This shop WILL sell you a part with a warranty that only goes through them and they'll tell you to go somewhere else. Most local shops WONT work with their 3rd party warranty company because they don't offer enough compensation. which only took a call to find out. When you inherently call them out they WILL 'block' your car from repair orders. I think Jeremy should watch the classic film MATILDA and take some notes from her. They installed a turbo that i relatively quickly called back to say was faulty, they insisted it was something else without looking. I had an emergency surgery (almost lost my arm) and couldn't physically bring the car back to them shortly after making that warranty call. This shop WILL be petty if you have ANY grievance and WILL NOT work with you to get rid of the rating they don't like. Even when the whole world agrees with you they did something shady. Top this with my other review and i don't know why anyone would get serviced here. Euro nation is next door, a master mechanic and auto motion down the street. I'd like to re-iterate they WILL NOT garuntee their work, they WILL put the broken part in but the problem sure as hell stayed($2,400 order for a $500 part new mind you). I trust this shop for my Porsche. They are more than competent. They research issues and parts to achieve the best results. If they cant find a mechanical problem they don't just give up and send you on your way. They will keep digging into the problem until they figure it out and find a solution. Another huge advantage to using this shop is the owner's professionalism. That is becoming very difficult to find, but essential for providing confidence in ability, solid communication and delivering a good customer experience. In my opinion the local Porsche dealership service shop is completely incompetent so this shop is a blessing. read more

Just recently they have moved locations and the new place is awful, not leaving adequate parking for cars and you have to walk through a drain ditch to access their front door. I brought a Mercedes 55sl in for service. It was a new car for me. They had to put it on a lift to service it and never bothered to mention that the tires had some serious issues. I have NEVER had a car repair where something was obvious and not mentioned...especially a safety issue. In less than a week of the repair the notification system on the car said it was having a cooling fan issue. I brought it elsewhere and was told the hose to the electric fan wasn't connected and jammed in the fan, not letting it turn. My assessment is that they want to get you and out as quickly as possible charging the most they can. They are not interested in building any long term relationship...it's a lot like going to a "Doc in the box" instead of a Dr that will spend the time. If you want quality service, I wouldn't go there. read more

I had a significant amount of work done on my car for a ridiculous price. Should have just taken my money to the dealership and got a new ride. Then when I tell him my alarm isn't working after they did $3k worth of work.... It wasn't their fault it's the censor... wtf okay it worked fine before you touched my car. I wouldn't recommend them charge by what a book tells them it should take not what it actually takes them to do it. Which is probably less time they are just taking in the money. I thought these guys were a quality business. I took my Audi there for a simple sunroof visor diagnostic and repair. I kid $150.00 for this to find they didn't even open anything up but looked at it and to top it off gave me a $2000.00 quote. My father advised me to take it to the Audi dealer to see what they say, which I did only to find total replacement was $1,200 and the diagnostic was $100.00 which was waived if I did the repair. Never would have thought a dealer would be a better deal. Anyway be warned as I'll never go back and will stop anyone who does. Rip off. read more

So, more accolades for these guys! They had parts on order after breaking down my car and diagnosing the issue. Parts came in on Thursday, low and behold, even with my cars VIN, the parts their supplier sent were the wrong ones. It wasn't looking good to have my car by the weekend. Parts came in mid day Friday and they busted it out and had me rollin' by 4:30! Stopping by early Friday and seeing how much the car needed tore down to do work on the tranny I must admit I was skeptical they could get er down, but they did!!! I was so ecstatic to have the car back this weekend, I drove it A LOT and prolly a little hard cause it was feeling the best it has since I have owned it. I am so glad I found this wonderful shop. This was the third shop I brought my mercedes slk 230 kompressor to because of a check engine light that no one else could find and fix. They not only fixed it but when I got the car back -it drove like a brand new car and that is saying something with a 22 yr old vehicle with 43k miles on it. Jason explains everything in great detail breaking it down so it is easy to understand and gets things ok'd before doing the work. Rick does great work and truly cares about trouble shooting and fixing it right. Jessica was wonderful providing rides when needed. It is so good to find an honest shop that does great work. I had written a review of a different shop! I am now briefly editing to relate to this shop. I had a very mixed experience. My car was overheating and it seemed to take them a very long time to figure out that it needed a new coolant resevoir. Each day they would say they would get back to me, and each day I had to call them and find out that the process was going to take even longer. I would have appreciated a more forthcoming explanation of the timelines involved with the service. Once they figured out what it was, and got the needed part shipped in, it was good service. My impression is that this shop isn't particularly attuned to Porsches, but I'm not a mechanic. read more

I was disappointed by the service I received. I was promised a proper diagnostic, but I was charged $110 just to plug the VAG-COM in and was told what I already knew, and what any auto parts store will tell you for free : the OBD codes, not one step more...Save yourself some money and find a shop that will be willing to work with you and help you. If you need VAG-COM find a VCDS owner through www.maptive.com and do it yourself (usually $35 -$40 a guy with the Ross-Tech latest version will come to your place), if you just need a diagnostic, because Autobahn won't do anything more anyways for that $110. read more
