My 1992 Honda Civic VX had developed an annoying squeak/rattle in the back that I had no idea what was causing it. I listened carefully to pinpoint, plus lubricated the entire rear hatch seal with Honda Shin-ETSU silicone grease, but no luck. Finally it was time to take my car to a body shop to see if a pro could fix the squeak. I asked my good car service shop, Foreign Affair, for their recommendation, and Tim there recommended Autobahn Body & Paint in Mountain View. Peter at Autobahn was the squeak/rattle expert, and on my visit there he drove the car on a short loop over a bumpy street so he could hear the noise. Then back at the shop's parking lot, he thumped and bounced and shook the car trying to poinpoint the sound. Nothing. Then over the next several days he coached me on places to lubricate the car -- hinges and latches and what kind of oil/lube to use. One at a time, in order, so we'd KNOW which spot fixed the noise. Bingo! Spot three was the winner! The noise was coming from the center latch and hook between the bottom of the rear window and the top of the tailgate. Lubricating that latch with lithium grease quieted the car, so wonderful to have that annoying, loud squeak/rattle finally gone! I really appreciate Peter's experience and methodical approach to diagnose this VERY difficult to find noise! I recommend Autobahn Body & Paint to anyone with a mysterious car body sound that is driving them crazy. I also appreciate Peter's professionalism and keeping costs down by involving me in the diagnosis and fix. read more

Very professional, honest, excellent repair of front end damage. Timely service. 100% satisfied. You will be too!

Peter is absolutely amazing! A locksmith had bent my driver's side door, causing it to leak water when it rained and whistle with air on the highway. I brought it in, and Peter immediately knew what was wrong. He fixed it and bent it back into shape in less than a minute! To top it off, he refused to take any money or even a tip, simply telling me to just think of his shop the next time I need bodywork. Exceptional service, high integrity, and incredibly skilled. I will definitely be back and highly recommend Peter to everyone! read more

I heard about Autobahn from an industry insider who specializes in auto body repair, who said they're a good and honest body shop and I have definitely found that to be the case! Jaswal and Peter were super straightforward and helpful from start to end and clearly had the customer's best interests at heart. Would gladly come back again read more

My Honda Accord from bumper was damaged in a parking lot accident. Went to Autobahn and was assessed by Peter. He did a thorough job with the estimate and gave me an acceptable day to bring the car in. Honda was there for 5 days, time extended for need of a part not included in the estimate. Peter dealt directly with my insurer, State Farm, and when I came to pick up my Honda, all I needed was a check for the insurance deductible. Very smooth operation. The body work was very good, front of Honda looked like new. Highly recommend. read more

My family has trusted Autobahn for excellent repairs for decades. My car was recently rear-ended, and as always their work was superb. They handled all of the back and forth with the insurance claim. It was a pleasure working with such trustworthy company professionals who share a friendly personal approach with their customers while providing top notch results. Thank you! read more

Hi! I just wanted to share my experience with you that I had with Autobahn Collision Repair in Mountain View. They are on your list of recommended repair shops and are so being supposed to work directly with State Farm regarding claims. I called to get an estimate and had to wait a week and a half before I could get an appointment. That appointment was only for the estimate. I would be required to come again to Autobahn if I chose to have them do the repairs. I received an email from Autobahn with the estimate, and I had assumed since they knew it was an insurance claim, that they would send the estimate to State Farm. After one week I decided to follow up with State Farm who explained that they had not received an estimate from Autobahn and that State Farm had indeed sent an email to them with a link that they could submit the estimate for repair. So I called Autobahn and explained that State Farm had not yet received the estimate. The gentleman I spoke to said, "No. You have to sign the approval for the estimate." To which I replied that no, since it is an insurance claim, he needs to submit the estimate to State Farm. "He became angry and said, NO! I don't have to call them! They have to call me!" To which I said I will find a different repair shop to which he replied in the same unkind, un-polite manner, "Fine with me!" I have always had excellent service from State Farm since I have been insured with them for 50+ years. In my opinion, Autobahn motors should not be on recommended list for repairs. read more

I had to get a repair done and statefarm recommended Autobahn. Peter was very kind and prompt and walked me through every step. The car was fixed in good time and they didn't take short cuts. I was referred to this place by my insurance. Here's a story of what happened to my car. My property manager was using 1-800 got junk. These guys thought it would be a bright idea to throw her old couch over her balcony. Let's just say the couch fell off of their truck and hit my parked car. Thank god it was a ding and a scratch and nothing too major. These guys were FAST and efficient! I'm happy to say that it really looks like nothing ever happened! Thank you so much guys! I was so happy to get my car back and looking brand new again!! read more

Took my BMW 530I in to repair extensive damage to the front end. They gave me a reasonable estimate and had my car looking good as new within a week. Great customer service, friendly people who are knowledgeable in their field. read more

Andrew A. Great job ,my van looks new, Very Happy with Autobahns work.I highly recommend them.

I recently had some front end body work done here after half totaling my car. And it came out absolutely beautiful - as in as perfect as the day I bought the car new. And on time. And with regular email updates from the owner. It struck me as expensive, but it was premium work and must be a reasonable rate since State Farm had them listed as one of their preferred partners. Incidentally, State Farm handled the claim very nicely (full review here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/jeri-fink-state-farm-insurance-agent-palo-alto-2#hrid:z6LSVegyi3VMZAVcyTBUUg). read more

Someone did a hit and run a month ago so my bumper was in need of replacing. State Farm set me up with AutoBahn and I could not be happier! Excellent customer service. Repairs to my vehicle were completed a day earlier than expected. They searched for parts as soon as I authorized them to proceed with the needed repairs. The finished repairs are excellent. Brought my car in to get the rear bumper repaired after being rearended on a hill in San Francisco. The damage to my car was only artificial (paint was scraped off) but it can be surprisingly hard to find a good place for paint repair. I brought my car into Autobahn after reading some of the reviews on here and was not disappointed. Pros: Autobahn handled insurance (dealing with the company of the person who hit me) The bumper looks brand new, Autobahn even washed and shined it Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, Peter was able to answer all of my questions My car was returned on time Autobahn offered a shuttle to my work when I dropped the car off Autobahn supplied touch-up paint for a spot unrelated to the repair for free I would list the length of the repair (3 days) as a con but the wait is worthwhile for Autobahn's quality work. read more

Autobahn Body & Paint - Bumper after the repair - Body Shops Near Me - Mountain View, California

Autobahn did a wonderful job on my 91 NSX. They replaced my rear valance and did a wonderful job matching the paint. Their whole team was nothing but patient and understanding and worked with me on making sure I was taken care of. I've sent friends here and will be continuing to do so. This is an overdue review for the best auto repair I've EVER experienced. They fixed my bumper from a backing accident which was a huge ordeal to handle. My auto insurance was less than responsive but that's a separate issue. Autobahn handled it seamlessly for me. If you've got a luxury & albeit pain in the butt car like me (I've got a MINI Clubman S 2017), do come here! Another plus, they won't con you just because you're female. AND they give you leftover paint?!!! Who does this?! read more

Autobahn Body & Paint - Free gift from my body repair! - Body Shops Near Me - Mountain View, California

I would like to give a huge shout out and thank you to Autobahn Body & Paint. I'm not one that leaves many reviews but I do so when  something is exceptional that warrants it. I have been an automotive technician for forty years now.  One of my areas of expertise is doing used vehicle inspections; along with the mechanical soundness of the vehicle, it also includes looking for exterior flaws in paint and or body repair.  To match a car's paint color, texture and sheen on cars with "pearl" paint is not easy to do. My wife and I picked up her car on Friday and it was absolutely perfect. I am a very picky person and was so afraid of how it would turn out. The work at Autobahn was absolutely flawless. I want to extend a huge thank you to Jaswal, Peter and the entire staff at Autobahn for their craftsmanship in their work, and the fine care they took of my car. I walked away with a huge smile because not only did the car turn out perfect, they were under budget too! In addition, I was having a little trouble dealing with my insurance company and Peter said they are on the "list"with that particular firm and would work directly with them. He advised me to drop it off and they would take care of the rest. The work began later that day read more

These people are running a Mickey Mouse operation. They are un professional and don't know how to run a business. Can't even answer the phone, if that's the case why even be in business. This is the best body shop in Bay Area. Unfortunately, we've been to a few others before. We have come here for all our repairs for the past decade and . Jaswal and Peter are top notch. Friendly customer service and experts at repair. Pricing is fair and service is prompt with high quality. Plus, they warranty all there work. We've taken 4 cars here and every time, our vehicle comes back looking like new. Here's a photo of my recent repair. Flawless! Thanks to Autobahn! read more

My car was making a noise when going over bumps - something was rubbing against a tire. Some plastic piece had come lose. The nice gentleman at the shop took a look, and then tried find the right piece to clip it back in place. About 5 minute and quite a few plastic pieces later he found the right one. "That should hold it" he declared. Really grateful. I know it wasn't a life and death situation, but it sure did bring piece of mind. read more

This Review is going to be for Peter Only. My car was totaled and I chose Autobahn to be my auto body shop to be the place to fix my car. Peter was extremely helpful in the process of what I needed to do and what he needed from me. He was also very quick with the paperwork!!! I received the estimate the next day and explained to me why the work needed to be done. Unfortunately the car had to be declared totaled because the damage was too severe to be even worth it. Overall Peter is extremely quick and helpful. Couldn't be any happier with the help he gave me during the time. A+!! read more

A neighbor brushed along the front of our car and didn't want to go through insurance. I got two quotes with Autobahn being significantly cheaper. The first body shop wanted to keep the car for eight days but Peter said they could do it in four days. I dropped the car in first thing Monday and to my surprise, I got a call Wednesday lunchtime to say drop by anytime after 4pm that day to collect the car. They guys did a fantastic job with the body work and were very kind to clean the car inside and out. I could not recommend them highly enough. I hope to never be back, but no doubt someone will bump me again!!! I will be going straight back to Autobahn if that happens. read more

On recommendation from a friend, I took my 2015 M3 to Autobahn to replace and repaint the rear bumper due to an accident and to refinish the front bumper due to rock chips. Metallic paints can always be challenging; mine is even more so because it's a BMW Individual color (factory color, custom order). Peter went above and beyond to track down the manufacturer of the color and obtain the exact paint formula. The finished product looks amazing and it's clear they invested time in getting an exact match. I couldn't be happier. If you're looking for quality work in automotive repair, look no further. read more

Peter and the team went above and beyond to repair my vehicle. My WRX was involved in a hit and run while it was parked. I had my bumper and headlights replaced at Autobahn and it was a pain free experience. I'm extremely picky with who I leave my car with and Peter made me feel right at home. I left my car there on 1/16/2018 and received my car 1/24/2018, they even vaccuumed the inside and cleaned the outside. Fingers crossed I don't have another incident, but if I do I would gladly leave my car here again. read more

A limo backed into my brand-new Honda (still had dealer plates!) and Autobahn fixed it up so you'd never know it happened. Worked smoothly with my insurance and the local Hertz to make everything as smooth as possible. There was one tiny problem after the fix (a loose connection in one door's controls) and they saw me the day I reported it, fixed it up while I waited. Hoping I never need to see them again ;-) but if my car gets hurt, I'm definitely going back to Autobahn! read more

I wanted to give this place a try based on the excellent reviews on yelp. I guess sometimes these reviews can be misleading. My experience with the owner here was completely contrary to what the reviews will make you believe. The customer service, or rather lack there of was extremely surprising. Rude, inconsiderate and dismissive are some of the adjectives that I can use if I am trying to be polite. I would like to point out that you can excuse the lack of customer service if the owner/workers are honest. However, I was lied to over the phone about quote appointment and estimated time it would take to get the car fixed. The owner flat out denied things he had said over the phone and went back on his word completely. Going as far as saying "I don't know what I say over the phone". How can you trust this business with your car when they can't even stay honest with the appointment timings etc. Steer clear (no pun intended). read more

Brought in to get my car's front bumper scratches removed and under-engine mud-guard replaced. Dropped it off on a Wednesday morning, was ready following Monday afternoon. I was referred to Autobahn by some acquaintances I trust in such matters, so took my wife's car there for repair after a minor parking lot ding. Unfortunately, the other car backed into the left front corner of our car, so just a low-speed tap caused damage to bumper, fender, hood, and headlight assembly. Good points: Autobahn handled the insurance. They returned the car looking like new - quality workmanship. They use OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts. They were courteous and professional throughout. Bad point: There is a pole in front of their building that looks like it would be easy to hit if it wasn't noticed, so beware the pole when parking/leaving. read more

I got multiple estimates from different auto shops for the repair of my back bumper from an accident. I decided on Autobahn because it's the only auto shop that offered to replace my bumper with a brand new bumper and they had great Yelp reviews. I also appreciate them for contacting the other party's insurance company on my behalf to ask for the additional money that was beyond what the insurance company paid me, which was the cheapest estimate. This meant that I didn't have to pay a penny extra. The other nice thing they did was paint an old scrape on the left side of my door for free without me asking. The new bumper and new paint on the scrape look fantastic! They are wonderful to work with, especially Peter and his office assistant. They finished on time as promised and their work is superb! I would highly recommend this place to everyone. read more

I found Autobahn through my insurance after a minor accident. I was AMAZED by the quality of the work and the service. Now, I'm no idiot when it comes to cars and I'm lucky enough to be with a guy who does know quite a lot, so he handles all the technical stuff. Peter called me the morning after the accident and helped me arrange to get my car towed from the storage lot to his shop. He then got an estimate to me by the end of the day and did a wonderful job taking lots of time and explaining all the damage and how he'd fix it. Peter was very aware of the insurance process and the limits that insurance would pay for and made SURE we'd be under it without sacrificing quality. He worked hard to find reconditioned parts and went to the mat to replace parts that " might not look damaged but could compromise safety in the future." The car was ready two days earlier than the estimate, and everything looked GREAT!! Peter also did a wonderful job sitting down with us and illustrating ALL the parts replaced and their function. He also found a problem that a previous shop had caused and wrote up a report so I could go back to them and get them to fix it. All in all, easy WONDERFUL experience-as far as getting your car fixed is concerned. read more

What a lovely experience! I never knew going to a mechanic could be lovely. I got rear ended, my insurance company sent me a link to a couple places. I chose this one only because it was close to my house. The insurance company set up my claim and rental car. I walked in and Peter was so calm and kind and got back to me with an estimate, timing etc. He said I could drop off the car on a Sunday so they could work on it Monday morning. Every evening I got an update. The car was done on Thursday and I left my rental car behind for them to get returned. What a nice shop! Thank you Autobahn! read more

I am writing in praise of Peter Joslin and the team of auto body wizards at Autobahn Body & Paint, who turned what could have been a giant hassle into a 5-star customer care experience. Got rear-ended (on Easter Sunday morning, no less!) and the insurance company of the gent who slammed into me suggested a list of possible repair shops. I researched the Yelp feedback for all, and picked Autobahn based on their 100 percent customer satisfaction rating. I am happy to report that, for once, Yelp was right--and pleased to add yet another 5-star rating. From the moment I brought the car in for an estimate, I was impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of Mr. Joslin. He even called up the car rental company to pick me up after I dropped the car! Throughout the repair process, Mr. Joslin emailed me periodic updates, and dealt with the insurance company on my behalf, ensuring that the paperwork was in good order. He was knowledgeable, reassuring, and correct every step of the way. When I picked up my vehicle a week later, I squealed in delight! Besides the repairs to the damaged area, the entire body had been cleaned and buffed. My 9-year-old car was gleaming, as if it had just rolled off the assembly line. These are good people, and excellent at what they do. My warmest recommendations. read more
