We called back after discussing the price change and they changed the story. Saying "oh he wrote the labor too high by accident . It will actually be $510" because they also replaced the intake valve and an ignition coil without confirming with us if that was okay. When we decided to not argue the $510 and just go get the car, they changed it to $594 once we were there. They were unable to explain why they did so much without confirming if we wanted the extra work done. We are not rich and I don't know a lot about cars and so I couldn't really argue. But just calling to tell us what was going on before doing it and charging us after the fact would have gone a long way. I won't say they scammed us because they did fix the issue with my car but it was absolutely shady and I would recommend them no one. They are taking advantage of people. I would have accepted a variation in price due to parts being more expensive than they thought. But they should have communicated with us when they did more than we agreed to. Also the ignition coil had nothing to do with the knock sensor so they shouldn't have replaced it without permission. So disappointed.

While it was there I ask the price for an oil change? 8 quarts $64.90 and filter$9.50. I O.K.'d the job and was called and it was ready the same day. Went to pick up the car and was given a bill of $827.50 Paid and drove home. Wife got in the car to go to work the next morning and come to find out the control panel, which is on the driver's side door didn't work. When I called them to ask what was wrong and was told they had to undo a lot of stuff to put the new starter in.(evidently they left something undone.?) and was told it would have to be taken to the Dealer. Now the car is a "Safety Hazard" as the windows and door locks don't work from the drivers side. I only have a 2 year college education but my figures ($478.30) don't come close to what I was charged. Everything worked before it went in, now there is this new problem. I needed to get back on the road to South Carolina the next morning, so I was extremely stressed. I contacted Brothers Mobile Tire Service & Tire Shop, and they were very helpful by giving me Mr. Robert's phone number. When I called him, he told me to come straight to his location. As soon as I arrived, he quickly diagnosed the issue and immediately started calling around to find the necessary part. What truly meant the most was the kindness shown by his family. They personally drove my family and me back to our hotel while the car was being repaired. This was a huge blessing because we had a family of five and Uber could only accommodate four passengers. At first, I thought the car wouldn't be ready until the next morning, but Mr. Robert called me shortly after and said he already had the part removed and would have the car ready that same night. Less than three hours later, he was on his way to deliver my vehicle back to me. When I got in the car, it drove like new again. Mr. Robert was truly a blessing to my family. He worked faster than any shop I've ever dealt with and went above and beyond to help us in a stressful situation. Price for tires and installation very satisfactory. We needed to have it done quickly because we had tickets to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville for that evening. John explained that the tire delivery would be in the early afternoon. He sensed that we were anxious. He got into his car and went over and picked up the tires. He ordered the car to be put on the rack and prepared. He was back in 15 minutes, and the tires were installed immediately. We were on our way in less than two hours. Excellent. I took my car up to Steve's because it's close to my neighborhood and I've never used them before…read morebut thought I'd give them a try. My clutch pedal was starting to lose pressure. This is something I've had fixed before by simply replacing a faulty slave or master cylinder. I let them know this while describing the issue. After saying this was most likely the issue, I was asked if the clutch had been replaced. Later I got a call back and they said that I was getting good pressure with the cylinders and that wasn't the issue. Instead that I was going to have to get the clutch replaced. I walked back up there and paid the $150 "diagnosis" fee that increased to $187 upon payment, citing taxes but not mentioning the $15 fees added. I told them I was going to get another opinion. A mechanic I know that changed the cylinder last time took the air filter off and checked the slave cylinder and showed me that fluid was leaking out very noticeably. Steve's hadn't bothered to even check the cylinders or they would have seen fluid leaking out. I'm guessing they just took it into the bay and pushed the clutch and decided I need a whole new clutch. My friend mechanic ordered a $60 part, the faulty slave cylinder, and the car is back running just like it was before. So Steve's got my $187, but not another cent from me. I hope it was worth it for them to get a small amount from me on the short end instead of a trusted customer in the long run. Avoid these crooks!
