Meanwhile, I went back for front suspension rework/fix (because they got that wrong too) and complained about the timing job. I asked for them to do it again. They wanted me to pay for warranteed work. They got a 2nd bite at the apple and did the same botched job (what the issue was I'll explain below). I took the vehicle to a 2nd shop and paid for them to do the job properly. No knocking afterward. And the reason for the knocking after AA did the job?? ONE OF THE TWO TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER GUIDE RAILS WAS MISSING THE BOLT THAT HOLDS IT IN AND WAS FLAPPING AROUND AND NOT KEEPING THE CHAIN TIGHT WHICH CAUSED IT TO STRETCH!! I have pictures (and the parts that were p ulled off from the AA job) to prove this. I went back to AA and they told me that the engine would have seized immediately. Further exposing their lack of knowledge and why the bolt was missed not once but twice on the guide (which is what was flapping). So those reading this. They screwed up front suspension. Then screwed up timing chain. I paid partial payment for the timing job, and came back to pay the rest while they continually tried to convince me the problem was the accessory belt tensioner. I got a 2nd shop to do the job and the engine purred like a kitten and NO knocking/rattling. They provided me with the pictures, parts from AA's botched job (which I still have). Stay far away from this shop. The quality of service went way down after 2022

But I did notice when I paid that the sign shows a very short price list of available service options (I think six?). I waited in my car in line behind three others for about twenty minutes. This is not a criticism, because they were working constantly and not one of the employees was idle. I don't mind waiting because they are popular. There are only two bays, so they can also only move cars through as they have room. I have been a customer with four vehicles coming here for multiple years. They are honest and do the work you paid for. I have now had two cars leave other quick lube places locally without things tightened appropriately to end up with engine problems a mile down the road. These guys will do it properly and not rush. This is my ideal in a place to take my vehicles for basic maintenance.

You pull up to a bay, wait and they'll direct you to slowly drive in when they are ready, then turn off your engine and park over an underground pit. You'll want to open all your windows. A worker gathers your details while you are in the car, asks to open your car drivers door and scan VIN code off the driver door jamb. Then ask what services you want, and if you want regular, blend, or full synthetic oil. Then they'll ask you to pop your hood, then what your current odometer mileage reading shows. They check your engine air filter and windshield wiper status every time, and they'll inform you of your engine air filter status. They pump out old oil via engine top dipstick tube, someone down below in service pit changes your oil filter, then they'll pump in fresh oil via engine top oil fill cap. They'll ask you to briefly start your engine to verify it runs and sounds normal. After, they'll pull your dipstick and show you that it's not can't-see-thru-black, but now thin see-thru brown and the level is above dipstick minimum oil mark. They ask for a credit card payment, and then ask you to start your engine and direct you to slowly exit. --- A tip to save time: write your name, detail, and current mileage in large print on a piece of paper you can show. Saves time & confusion mis-spelling.

Where to start? From the beginning would be a good idea. I have had several issues with AAA Auto…read moreService. 1. My Expedition needed new tires. Fine. Had AAA order them, and install. When I went to pick up the vehicle I notice a $200 charge for "tire insurance." When I questioned the line item I was told that I had agreed to the service. I had not. The service adviser then challenged my comment stating that I had signed the agreement. Yes, my initials were on the order, but at no time was I asked if I wanted "tire insurance" for new tires. I got into an argument with the service adviser when asking for a credit. Finally, he relented and a credit was issued. Point here: never, ever argue with a customer. 2. Took the Expedition in earlier this week for a state inspection actually believing that it would fail due to possibly needing new brake pads and rotors. Amazingly enough it passed. The next issue follows the inspection. 3. Even before taking the Expedition inspection I noticed a slight vibration through the steering wheel. This persisted even after the "inspection" by AAA Auto. So, I decided to take the vehicle to local shop to chase down the cause. Here are the results: a. all the wheels were out of balance. b. the lug nuts on one wheel were stripped on the outside so if I had a flat there would be no way for me to remove the lug nuts much less the tire. The folks at AAA Auto strike again. c. all the brake pads and rotors were toast. Therefore, they needed replacement. So why did the Expedition pass state inspection? Was AAA Auto hoping that I would notice increased vibration and return so they could do the brake work? I have no idea. Fortunately the work was done by a very reputable local shop. Bottom line: DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO AAA AUTO. EVER!! I certainly won't.
