I was referred to a friend of mine who was just simply enthusiastic about Auto Risen. I took my 1991 Acura Integra for a minor timing adjustment so I could pass my smog test. The work was done quickly; however, it failed the test. In fact, the timing was worse than before. I immediately took it back to Auto Risen. The company owner made the adjustment himself in less than five minutes, and apologized for not checking the work of his employee. I took it back to the smog test center and it passed. Best of all, it didn't cost me a fortune to get a minor repair completed. I am returning with another car that has more extensive problems, confident that Auto Risen will take good care of me. I've been going to this mechanic for about 8 years. Peter (the owner) is really nice and easy going. He's trust worthy and doesn't pinch pennies when charging you. His pricing is very fair. He can handle just about any car from a Honda to a Rolls Royce. Remember that he's good but not perfect. This place is usually busy so you'll have to wait for your car. Just account for more time when waiting for your car to be fixed. Once you know that, let him do his stuff, you should have no issues. I recently brought my Sequoia in after being told by another shop the car needed $2700 worth of repairs to fix a stripped spark plug. Peter replaced all the plugs, fixed the melted ignition sensor and the stripped plug housing in a couple of hours for less than a quarter of the other shops quote. I was referred to Peter through a family member. Wow. This guy is great. Very few breed of "honest mechanic" which should be on endangered species list. I take all my cars there all the time. The prices are very reasonable. He charges you for exactly what he's worked on, not a penny more. For parts he's charged me the wholesale price that he pays, which is cheaper than if I buy it myself. Almost all mechanics charge anywhere between 50 - 100% more than retail price for the parts so they can make money on parts as well. Not in this shop. Many times, he declines the service you've requested because it is not necessary. He also tells you what else is wrong with your car and the price is almost always less than I expected. I came here based on the good Yelp reviews. I have a VW that has recently started having random, unpredictable transmission problems and I do not feel safe driving around. When I brought it here, they found nothing wrong with transmission but they did say that something could be wrong with it even though nothing showed up. They told me the price of a new transmission and I was unwilling to pay that price. I asked what I should do and and I was told to just keep driving it for another year and it should be fine until then. So I kept on driving it for one more day and the problem was only getting worse. I still did not feel safe so I called another service shop. I told them the same thing I told Auto Risen and explained what my car was doing. they told me NOT to drive the car as it is very dangerous to myself and others. they couldn't believe that I was told to keep driving it. The owner of this shop is kind and seems like an honest man, but I was not happy with my personal experience here. read more

I do not recommend this guy. He was very rude on the phone and wouldn't look at my car when I came in to his shop. I made an appointment and when I called him to ask for directions, he rudely told me he is busy and he canceled my appointment, even though I already came all this way. I asked my friend to call him from her phone and check if he was really busy, and he told her to come in and he would check her car. The guy lied and acted unprofessional.
