The old saying "Jack of all trades and expert of none" is how I would explain this business. Are they experts at anything, I honestly would have to say no but in the same breath I don't think they are bad at anything either. Problem is they are trying to do so many things at once under one roof, they don't really seem to excel at any of these things. I went there for auto repair and they were busy updating the cars they are selling out front, and if you want engine repair that is one department but then they also have separate auto body repair and they have separate auto sales and separate auto financing. Then you drive a couple blocks up the road and they are also selling gas for this same business name. So yeah they are trying to do absolutely everything under one brand and doing an OK job at everything but are falling far short from doing a great job at anything. If you live in SLP and want a one stop shop that does decent work this is your spot. If you are like me and looking for a higher quality or expert service I would say this may not be the place to go. They do GOOD work is the best I could say about them. read more

Ask for a "Patrick-built" engine repair. My '69 VW bus engine had been struggling for years. Underpowered & unreliable, it was sapping the joy that usually comes with tooling around in a classic. When COVID hit, it was clear that a camper van would be the ideal self-isolation-mobile if properly repaired. Thank goodness for Patrick - one of the most versatile mechanics you'll ever meet. Not only was he willing to research the problems thoroughly, but he also found the specialized vendors we needed to replace hard-to-find parts. At the time of this writing, Auto Motion has a Better Business Bureau rating of D-. Roberto Bertomeu is listed as the business owner and Steve Sherman is the sales manager and who I primarily interacted with. I arrived to check out a 2004 BMW 330 Ci. It is a small convertible still available at the time of this writing. At the time it was listed online for $7,998. A price I thought fair and the websites told me was fair. I took it out for a test drive enjoyed the car and noticed a crack in the windshield. Steve Sherman, the sales manager, told me they would take care of the windshield if I purchased the vehicle. I left without purchasing to go home and speak with my spouse about the purchase before making a decision. The next day I called and asked if it would be okay if I took the vehicle to another service shop for an inspection. Steve approved this and I took the car to Minnetonka BMW. This inspection is something that I paid for. The service shop at the BMW dealer provided me with a report and recommendations of $1,400 in repairs. I was comfortable with the car at this time and accepting the risk of the repairs. I returned the car to Auto Motion. After a quick chat reconfirming the windshield replacement and one other plastic piece, I didn't bother to ask about a lower price and accepted the $7,998 listed price and Steve and I shook on it. The next step was to draw up a purchase agreement that I could take to the bank. Steve appeared to attempt to print out the purchase agreement but ultimately told me that his printer was broken and he would email me the agreement that I could print and take to the bank. That evening I never received an agreement. The next morning I called and left a voice message. I soon received an email from Steve letting me know that a repeat customer had test driven the vehicle a week prior and came in that evening and offered $1,000 over the listed price "AS IS" and I now had a new offer of $8,500 "AS IS." Steve let me know the owner of the business had tied his hands. So essentially, Auto Motion as a business decided its best course of action was to back out of the agreement it made with me to chase $500 to $1,000 plus a windshield replacement. I'm not attached to the car, so I passed on the new offer and mildly annoyed that Roberto and Steve decided not to honor the deal made with me. I now see the vehicle listed on their website for $8,998, so short of accusing Steve and Roberto of being dishonest I need to assume the deal with their repeat customer fell through and Steve forgot about the deal he made with me. I won't know, because Steve is now unable to answer my phone calls to either purchase the car or recoup the diagnostic fee I paid for with the understanding Auto Motion would honor the $7,998 price they originally listed on their website. I do believe it was wrong and without integrity to back out of the deal with me, especially when I invested a large chunk of time into learning about the car and the diagnostic fee I paid with the understanding that Auto Motion would honor the $7,998 price they listed themselves. Conclusive Thoughts: Within Automotion, Steve doesn't have the ability to negotiate. Every deal he will need to get approval from Roberto and it doesn't matter what you shook on with Steve. Roberto, while being a multi business owner within the St Louis Park area (and I don't know where else) is willing to back out of deals made and violate the integrity of said deals for as little as $500. I will never spend my time on their lot again and I don't recommend anyone spend their time there as well. While German vehicles are cool, their vehicles are no more special than the next German used auto dealer and can be found spending time and working with people of higher integrity. read more

My wife and I bought our second car from this place in May. We got a 2007 Audi Q7. When we bought it the rear gate was not working properly and the rear seat belts were broken. They were also going to get us another key. This was written in the contract. We dropped the car off at there shop in mid August and got it back on 10/3 after 5 weeks. None of the repairs were done. The rear gate still doesn't work and the rear seat belts had new housing glued and tape on around them. The one seat belt did not even latch. I messaged Steve and he said they will make it right. I told him at this point I would like to take it to Audi, he agreed. I went to Audi and got the cost of the key and looking at the gate. And have sent 6 emails and 4 text messages to Steve to make sure he was ok with the cost with no return. Also I ordered the seat belts on eBay and fixed them myself for 50 bucks. I have contacted the MN BBB and they have a ranking of "F". they have tried to reach them with NO Response, this seems to be there MO. These guys seem to really know what they are doing. They are really nice and have some very nice cars for sale. The 2002 Volvo v70 XC they fixed for me seems done for. 3000 miles since I got it back from the shop and the transmission is fried. It left me stranded on the freeway with my kid in the car. The ABS Anti skid lights also came on 2 weeks after getting it back and never went off. Not sure what happened. These guys try hard and I would go back to them with other car issues. read more

I took my classic bmw to this shop on a recombination from my brother in law, I dealt with Tim, he was very professional and covered everything that was wrong with my car, we went over every option and he gave me a couple of recommendations, we decided to replace the motor, the price was very reasonable and the work was done in a timely fashion. They did the work that was absolutely necessary, worked directly with my warranty company, and had my car back to me in less than half the day. This place has always been good to me. I have been taking my car here and to Tom forever. They are kind, honest and hard working. Also, they really know cars. I read some of the older reviews and I always think it is weird when people say things like "I cant believe anyone would give this place 5 stars." Just because you had a bad experience doesn't mean everyone else did!!! I have had bad experiences at 5-star hotels but I know that most people do not. I was absolutely devastated after noticing my brand new car had been severely keyed. I've been to several repair shops in the past, including Abra and Midas, for body work and was less than impressed with the end result. Mike was so incredibly helpful and easy to work with! My car was fixed ahead of schedule and looks brand new again. I would have never know there was ever any damage if I hadn't seen it myself. I was sold a vehicle with a bent frame. I bought a BMW X5 from Steve at Automotion. Was told the vehicle had not been in any accidents and they had done a thorough inspection and also repaired a number of items prior to the sale. I took the vehicle back in as the rear tires were wearing quickly, it looked like the camber might be off. They inspected it and said everything was fine. The uneven tire wear continued so I took it to an alignment and suspension expert. He called immediately to tell me the car had been in an accident, the frame was bent and due to the bent frame he could not bring the vehicle back into alignment. Now I have a vehicle that I've sunk thousands into that is unsafe to drive!! I reached out to Steve to talk about a resolution to the situation, he said he would talk to the owner and get back to me. I had to think long and hard prior to writing this review, but here it goes. I purchased my car from Auto Motion in late April 2014. There was some body damage to the rear drivers side fender so I paid Auto Motion for the car AND the body repairs to be done by them at the time I purchased the car. At the time of purchase we agreed upon a date and time I would bring the vehicle back for the repairs to be done. I was pushed off three times before I finally got my fiancé involved to contact them to get them to agree to take my car in for the repairs. During this three week process of fighting them to take my vehicle we discovered the car had a broken rear coil spring which had obviously been that way for a while since it was rusted like crazy. The broken piece had gashed the entire inner side of the tire, though. On top of that the rear brake pads were non-existent. So much for the "safety report" they wave in your face at the time you purchase that car. Due to its age though I purchased the car "AS IS," because how would I have known?? So I had to eat those costs. Well, Auto Motion FINALLY took my car in for the body work. The shop guy, Alberto, told me it would be a two or three day job to get done. After a week went by with no word I contacted them - no response. So I, again, asked my fiancé to contact them. Weeks went by without any update or word about my car. Three weeks after they took my car we started getting updates and promises from the sales guy, Steve that it would be done soon. He was sure of it. I was without my vehicle for 38 days! 38!!!!! Unacceptable. To top it all off, my vehicle was returned to me with dust and debris all over the inside, the check engine light was on, and the gas take was filled with low grade gasoline which caused my car (which needs premium gasoline) to run terribly. Overall, this experience has been a nightmare, and frankly I am surprised that other people have given this establishment such positive reviews. The only reason I am offering two out of five "stars" for this business is because when I have been able to communicate with Steve or Alberto they are very nice people, but after my experience that doesn't matter much to me since there was no follow through. As angry as I am about the damages done to my car while in their possession I am not even going to bother to contact them to get these things addressed since it would just start the nightmare over again. read more

Bought a used Audi from Steve, was a nice guy but have had nothing but issues from the day I bought it and finally drove it home. They fixed one item then driving home check engine light comes on and have found issue after issue with no reply from Steve around working out a way to handle. There had been many "quick" fixes to get it thrown together and I find something new everyday. The error codes are items they would have known about and still didn't disclose. Stay away! Took my car in for a small repair. Turns out, my car needed much bigger repairs, but we decided not to do them right away, which they were fine with. However, we were told that to do the (original) small repair, it would take 30 minutes. 4 hours later, the car was FINALLY done. They blamed it on the parts supplier, but we had been told 2 hours prior that the part had come in and they were able to start the repair. Plus, the worker who we were in contact with seemed fairly indifferent and unconcerned about the wait. Altogether not the worst service, but definitely not the best. Soon after purchasing the car (Mercedes) the check engine light went on and they ignored all communication from me. After waiting a entire day with no call he texts and says he'll call shortly, so after waiting again we gave up and found a better deal else where.
