I didn't believe the other reviews on here at first because the name and location don't make this an attractive destination, but it really is good. I went here while visiting the Scarborough area on vacation. There are surprisingly few breakfast options in the area (aside from the hotel continental breakfasts) and this was a great surprise. The service was friendly and quick. I would recommend this to anyone. read more

Fresh ingredients, friendly wait staff and passionate / outspoken Chef make for a deliciously entertaining meal. The breakfast is the best on the east coast IMHO. George does everything right from the corned beef hash with real corned beef to the fantastic pancakes which are actually like little cakes, you won't leave disappointed. The only draw back is the size, it is a bit small so getting a seat will be a challenge but well worth the wait. read more

I enjoyed a very good breakfast and the server was friendly and helpful. It would be a regular place for me if I were local to Saco. Nice homey feel to it. read more

Came for an early Saturday breakfast, and sooo happy we did. Inside it is cute, small but just perfect. The chef joyfully greeted us, and after taking our order, sang to all the songs that were playing. I had the Rock Lobster Omelette, it was bursting with fresh hunks of claw, perfectly ripe avocado, tomatoes and Swiss. Soooooooooooooooo good. We shared some bacon which was crisp and done perfectly. Will be back for sure! read more

Loved it. Party of 8 easily accommodated. Great fun happy staff. 8 different meals all delicious and homemade. Reasonable price point. Easily accessible off the highway. Would definitely go back. Next time want to try one of the desserts! Quite a selection! read more

We stop here every time we are in Saco. The chef is a master when it comes to preparing eggs to the customers request. Great service and food. Highly recommended. read more

Well, went there today and it was locked up even though its hours on yelp said otherwise. 1 star.

My wife and I got tired of being turned away from breakfast places in Portland and since there's no major diner in the Mall area, we decided to drive to Auto Mile and this place was amazing. Small and won't be able to accommodate large parties, but if you're 4 or less, go! You will not be disappointed. Oh, and the menu is on the wall, so if you only look at the menus on the table you'll be limiting your choices. Not sure why they do that? Maybe to see who's local and who's from out of town. But look at the wall before you order! and yes...I realized this after I placed my order from the menu. So, label me a tourist. But outstanding grub. This chef knows how to make an omelet. Pancakes are good too. Go! Make the drive and go early. read more

Breakfast Food was delicious-crispy bacon and perfectly fried Texas style french toast with a bottle of Fake maple syrup ( - real maple syrup costs more) and very tasty hot coffee; 2 scrambled eggs and irresistible home fries. I was greeted at the front door by a woman about my age - gray hair; very funny and friendly and was seated in the dining room which had one whole wall of menu items, complete with colorful illustrations. We were served our orders and had a fine time until I asked for more coffee. At that point, the chef (and owner) came out front and yelled at us for staying so long and preventing other customers from coming in for lunch. At that point there were only 2 other people in the place; all other tables were empty; no one was waiting in to get in. He couldn't have been nastier. We were speechless when we realized he was serious and essentially he cursed out for sitting with our coffee. He invited us to leave, which we did immediately. As a local, I'd have come back here often in a heartbeat, but the chef shot himself in the foot and I will never return. read more

Blink and you miss it, but you want to pay attention because the prices & flavors here are fantastic! My friend and I had different dishes, and both were delicious. My scallops were the best I've had this year. Her curly fries were so perfectly cooked that she took the ones she couldn't finish home and ate them later! read more

We've just returned from Saco, ME where we "discovered" the Auto Mile Diner. I assure you, their breakfasts are NOT to be missed!! Food was scrumptious and plenty. Bacon was crispy and the Strawberries & Cream Crepes were beyond description! George, the owner & chef sings (incredibly) while cooking and serving. My only regret about Auto Mile Diner is that it is one plane ride and a 2 hours drive from our home.... If not, you'd see me a couple times a week. !!! Don't MISS this wonderful diner !!!!! read more

On vacation in OOB and found this place on yelp. I like to check out diners and the Auto mile had great reviews. The hash was homemade and good but the blueberry pancake was a disappointment. Plenty of berries but it was undercooked and tasteless. The coffee was mediocre. My wife like her eggs benedict and my daughter was happy with her chocolate chip pancakes. The service was efficient but we felt a bit rushed. I also thought the prices were a bit high. $4.50 for a side of hash??? So I can't give Auto Mile a glowing review. read more

A friend and I went here for a quick lunch while waiting for her car to be ready across the street. It was the closest diner that wasn't a Dunkin Donuts. We'd never been, but it seemed to have good reviews, so we gave it a shot. I definitely do not regret it! The atmosphere was comfortable and cozy. The walls have the breakfast specials tacked up with adorable drawings of what's available. The wait staff was very friendly, and the chef was hilarious to listen to -- singing along with the radio and bantering with the regulars, proving that they were very comfortable and friendly. On top of this, the food was delicious and timely! I got a pastrami Reuben and sweet potato fries, and it was one of the best ones I've ever had. This is definitely a place I'll be going to the next time I'm in the area, and I definitely recommend it to anyone else interested in a tasty, affordable breakfast. read more

How did I miss this little gem of a Breakfast place. I loved every single bite of our meal. I had Hash and Eggs and my boyfriend had a Western Omelet. Both meals were amazing. We decided to share an order of French Toast and the server recommended the Maple Butter... FANTASTIC recommendation Thank You!!! . I'm cant wait to go back for more!! read more

Ok but not what I was expecting. Ham was lunch meat. Bacon tasted like already cook bacon. Coffee Not local like most. I live the local coffee. Biscuits were ok. I go to Becky's next time. Was just lo king for a early breakfast. read more

The service is great, the food is great but the best part is how fun and funny it is with the owner and the staff he sings they all are characters read more

This was one of the best diners I have been to in recent memory! We ordered country fried steak and eggs, an eggs benedict, and my son had the "Auto Mile Pileup". It was fun to watch him struggle to finish it. Everything here is well prepared. Service was top notch. George takes extreme pride in the quality of his restaurant and it shows. read more

Tasty breakfast. Homestyle cooking. Very small diner, but friendly staff and good food are worth a visit.

Friends visiting from Mass. found this spot on Yelp. the outside is pretty nondescript and the small dining room nothing fancy but this place was wonderful. Super friendly waitstaff, a passionate and entertaining chef in George and great, well priced breakfast. George told us his corned beef hash is from scratch so two of us ordered it. Awesome taste, not too salty, served with perfectly cooked eggs and an english muffin on the grill (decadent perk). While we waited George sent us out a delicious blueberry cinnamon roll already cut into thirds for the three of us. I will definitely be back and am going to try their lunch as well. read more

This is a place that the locals eat at. Small but friendly diner, 8 tables and 1 booth. Great service from the one waitress. Healthy portions and great tasting food. Waitress and cook knew all the customers. Would back again if I'm ever back in this town. read more

Best breakfast spot I've been to in Maine. Small place but with a pretty good sized menu. Lots of hearty options which was perfect for a long day of sightseeing. I got biscuits with sausage gravy and a side of two eggs and hash. My boyfriend and I also split a blueberry pancake...phenomenal! This was certainly a stick to your ribs meal! Don't be deterred by the outdoor appearance of this place! Awesome home cooking and very friendly people! read more

great diner...breakfast all day. Service was awesome, food was good and fast. Prices are good. This is pretty much everything you'd want in a diner. The coffee is pretty good too. read more

Amazing prices for lots of food. The blueberry pancakes are out of this frigan world. ....I'm typing this from mars.

The staff is quirky and fun. The menu is hand drawn on pages hung on one wall. Fresh and delicious. I've only been here for breakfast. We will be back! read more

Great place. Small cozy. Staff excellent. All food was homemade and reasonably priced. A real gem.

The food was as-expected for a diner but the place was filthy. Way over-priced for for what it was. The mugs smelled and the salt and pepper shakers were sticky. I'm sure the locals love it and look past the grime, but for anyone travelling this would not be an ideal place to stop. The young waitress was wonderful! Very friendly. Penelope, I think her name was. The older boss-lady yelled at her in front of everyone about throwing something away that was too big for the trash. I felt bad, the girl was very nice and didn't deserve the embarrassment. This place could be fabulous with a nice make-over! read more

We stopped late on a Sunday morning for lunch. The food was very good. We even ordered the chocolate cream pie which was well made. It is not from a pudding mix and is topped with fresh whipped cream, however the cream did not hold completely so it was a little funny- but still good. read more

Excellent food , our waitress was swamped but held it together despite a few rude customers. Glad we stopped !

Excellent diner with better then diner food. Chef George takes care of me when I stop in. Gerald fleming, Cranston RI

Unfortunately a rather disappointing visit. The eggs Benedict needs serious help. It comes with deli style sliced ham rather than Canadian bacon. This made the dish very salty. The holindas was very runny and pale in color. You could taste the lemon but it was lacking egg in the consistency. In the end, not a place we will return to. read more

Food was excellent, couldn't be better.. Staff short handed so everything took a little longer.. Small place so it gets crowded quickly.. Waitress was nice but very stressed out, probably from being short handed.. More like short staffed than short handed.. I'll be back just not on a weekend again. read more

stopped in on our way to work great food clean and there was only the chef working. Food was great service was timely and with a big smile and the chef singing in the kitchen was the icing on the coffee roll! I will absolutely come back again read more

Wonderfully delicious freshly cooked meals. And very friendly service too. Just wished we had been staying in the area longer to enjoy more meals! We will be back on our next trip! read more

Just tried this Diner for a late breakfast today! Nice. LOTS of food for the price! The pancakes are HUGE and delicious! Huge cups of coffee! I had the pork pie breakfast, which was very good,,,,but way to much, and had to bring most it home for later. The waitress was very attentive, and the chef even came out to say hello. We will try them for lunch sometime soon. I think you will like this place for either breakfast or lunch. Right across from the Jeep dealership on Rt. 1 in Saco. read more

Best corned beef hash I've ever had! My girlfriend and I decided to get breakfast at a local spot while waiting for my car service up the road, she found the Auto mile diner online from these reviews so we dicided to try it out and I'm glad we did! I got eggs and hash and the hash was truly homemade and had incredible flavor. We were both extreamly satisfied with our meals and the friendly service. We even got to meet the chef/owner as he came out in the dining room to joke around with some regulars. We'll definitelty be back again!!!!!! read more

Wife and I eat here 2 or3 times a month, that should say it all. We found this diner in 2005 while having our vehicle serviced at the now defunct Brown Motors. It was a recomendation by our salesman and we couldn't have been more satisfied. George's soups and chowders are among the best and when he has them his fried clams are great. he has both whole and strip clams. Also his breakfasts are top shelf. read more

My family came here for breakfast while vacationing in OOB and based on other Yelp reviews. First, the menu offers many choices. I had the triple berry pancakes which were FANTASTIC. My husband had an omelette and my kids had a sampling of French toast, eggs, bacon, sausage and toast. Each of them cleaned their plates and all of them agreed my pancakes were the best. The chef came out to greet us and the waitress was very friendly as well. It is on the smaller side, so I don't think a large group would do well here unless you go a little later when it's not too busy and you can combine tables. Overall, very happy and would certainly return again. read more

The food was amazing, as was our waitress, she was sweet, and the only one waiting! The place was PACKED! She did great! The AC was on, and it was great! One problem..a tall older man was running around, bussing maybe? Not sure what he was doing other than yelling at the waitress telling her what she should do. As a table of 5, with two children, we were shocked and talking about it, and i stated "I think she's doing a great job", and he came over to the table, bent down to face level and yelled, "THIS IS AN A&B conversation, STAY OUT OF IT! WE ARE JUST JOKING!" He was right in my face, practically spitting on me as he yelled. I was even more shocked and just sat back in silence. We had already ordered at this point so we were just waiting for our food. As he was bringing out our food he tossed them at each person who ordered, we thanked him and were acting as normal as we could, we got no response, or even a smile, and he did not bring my breakfast out, I thought this was pretty immature. The waitress then came over and apologized and brought my breakfast out, and everything was great there on out, he was still unpleasant, but luckily stopped yelling, so he was able to ignore. On our way out the waitress apologized again, and said it wasn't a joke, she had to deal with it every day..Even though the breakfast was delicious, I will not be back due to being harassed... read more

cheap and tasty diner fare. the swiss and bacon omelette was the best omelette i have ever had, and while the hash browns looked pale and undercooked, somehow they were still extremely flavorful and crisp. my mom and little sister got the pancakes and those were also amazingly fluffy and delicious. it looks small and dumpy but the inside is cute and clean. the waitress was prompt and friendly and seeing the playful banter between her and the regulars only added to the charm of the place. will visit next time i'm in the area! read more
