I had an excellent experience all round. Initially, I arrived, unknowingly, just after hours. However, one of the service reps came into the office and took the time to explain their hours and give me a card. He advised me that wherever I had my windshield replaced, I should ensure I get a printout report for the recalibration of the sensors. Check one: not pushy! Check two: When I returned to book an appointment, the office staff were so helpful. I'd had trouble getting information from my insurance company but the staff solved it all instantly by creating a three-way call to have the insurance approved. Great customer service. Thank you! Check three: I made an appointment and was told that it could take anything from two to five hours. However, I received a text just after two hours to say that everything was done. (Of course, not always guaranteed!) I returned to pick it up, payment was easy and I was out of there and on my way in five minutes. Kudos to Autoglass Express! They're amazing! This is the second time by driver's window was broken into in the Oakland JLS area in two months. On a Friday night! My window takes longer to get... I knew I was going to have to wait until Monday to even schedule something... So I left messages everywhere. Auto Glass Express was one of the first to call me back (when I happened to be working) and leave a very nice message. Once I spoke to them -- Friendly, professional, to-the-point. Price offered was $287 for after-market, and I could get the window installed on Wednesday. Dealer-supplied would be about $100 more and take 2 days longer. I asked what the difference was in quality (I was nervous about going with the cheaper option) and she kindly explained it to me. I opted for cheaper and sooner. For comparison, Safelite couldn't make it until Friday. They quoted me $450, and then when I started to talk about scheduling, they said the total woule be. $578!! Huh?? The $450 "just for the glass". WHAT?? THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS MORE than Auto Glass Express. For what??? The sucker fee, I guess. So, Wednesday morning, I get a call from Auto Glass. The window distributor had a glitch getting my glass to them on time. They called immediately, very apologetically, explained the situation, and scheduled me for the next day. An hour later they called back-- The glass was in! Was I still available? When the tech arrived, exactly when they said he would, he also was friendly and professional. And accommodating! (It's complicated getting into and working in my building's large, dark garage.) He told me to come back in a half hour (Safelite took 90 mins the last time), I did, and bam! I originally had Safelite come to my house(they canceled my first appointment and made me wait another week). they were very difficult and basically did not want to replace my front window shield when they got here. they were making excuses that they never told me about when I made the appointment. I called auto glass express and they were able to come out that day and replace my window shield in about an hour. I'ed like to give this business 5 stars. They're very responsive, the price for the chipped windshield was affordable, located in Berkeley with ample parking. You can also wait at their lobby. There are coffee shops and some restaurants around the area while you wait, they also offer to text/call you when your vehicle is done. Customer Beware. Had my windshield replaced. When my partner and I returned to the car we found a wet paint-like substance all over many of the surfaces. They attempted to clean it using solvents and glass cleaner and further damaged the leather and fabrics. After marring up both A-Pillars the Shop only agreed to replace 1 of the 2 Pillars. Their employee came over to me yelling at me that didn't want to replace the other A-Pillar. I took a step back in disbelief because I didn't even ask. Had car detailed, but the white spots return and remain. Spoke with Ladan. She seeks no resolution and just spouts confusing phrases. She rambled and make every possible endless accusation based on nothing, anything to dodge that her employee made a mistake. They didn't have the replacement in stock, but gave me a same day 3pm appointment, because they assumed they could get a replacement from their supplier. It was a friendly, patient interaction with a no upsell, exact price quote and they answered all questions such as job duration. I showed up at the appointed time and one hour later got the car back. They have a small waiting room, but there are coffee shops within easy walking distance as well as a Jack In the Box next door. If I could give these pros 10 stars I TOTALLY WOULD! Hands down the best Auto Glass place in the Bay Area. I contacted them after having my quarter glass smashed in Oakland :( and spoke to Damaris who was super kind and was able to reassure me they would be able to find a replacement glass for my car. She provided me a reasonable quote and a time frame for the glass to be delivered since she was able to find a used quarter glass for me! She assured me that the used quarter glass would go through a thorough inspection by their staff prior to being installed in my car. When the used glass arrived, Damaris contacted me to tell me the glass passed inspection and scheduled me for an install. When I arrived I was greeted warmly and I truly felt I was in good hands. They replaced my glass in an hour which was a lot faster than I expected. I cannot tell you what a great job they did and at a fair price! Damaris, You are seriously my HERO!!!! I had a cracked windshield on my 22 Subaru Legacy. Happened from a pin sized pebble. Auto Glass Express billed my insurance and I only had to pay the deductible. I needed new wipers which they comped me including installation. Pretty much set an appointment, they recommended best I wait till after a road trip I had through rough road conditions. I showed up, they detailed the installation and calibration required for the sensors. I had three hours to go, so I walked down to a store I know a half hour walk away. I bought a few things had two cups of coffee and got some work done on my phone. Walked back at close to three hours and they were just finishing up. They explained the windshield do's and don'ts for the next 24 hours, I paid and left. I've been a vendor of theirs for a few years and always happy to reciprocate business. Many years ago on a different car Alison told me the importance of getting nicks from road debris cared for right away, and that insurance will cover it. She kept me informed about when to expect the replacement glass from dealership or aftermarket via phone call or text. They are also honest about their services (will vacuum glass out of your car too) and their workers are fast and efficient; they installed my passenger side glass before I finished my mocha coffee at Haywire café. My passenger window regulator was not operating at optimum level and all they did was spray it with lubricant (e.g. WD-40). They could have tried to charge me for a new one, but they didn't and told me where to apply the lubricant on the door next time it happens; don't worry I always get more than one opinion before I pay anything related to my vehicle. Excellent experience getting my windshield replaced. I called and got the machine and hung up. I started to fill out the online quote form, but within a minute, they called back to say they missed a call from my number. They said that availability today wasn't great but tomorrow was better. I interpreted that to mean they would have gone out of their way to help me today if it was an emergency. Very cool. I made an appointment for the following day and everything went smoothly. It took about 2.5 hours. They even vacuumed up ALL THE GLASS that was everywhere in my car. It smelled like they may have even done a bit of a shampoo as well - it was like new. Yes! These days it's hard to find a company that really stands behind their work. These folks know what they're doing, AND they are a pleasure to work with. My windshield was replaced a few months ago, and looked great, but I started hearing a whistling sound, so I thought it might be the seal. Right away I was invited to bring it in to have a look and told it would be replaced if need be. Elver took me out for a test drive to listen to it, and not only was he the nicest guy, he tested a few hypotheses and found the problem was completely unrelated to the windshield.
