Unfortunately I have had to utilize their services twice in 10 days for two separate windows that have been broken. Each time they have been fantastic. This place is fantastic. After a break-in, I got quotes to replace my driver's side window for more than double what Auto Glass Express charged me. They offered a time within 2hrs, quickly got the part in stock, and had me back out the door within 3 hours of initial contact. At every step, they were courteous and professional. Looking to fix a crack in your windshield? Auto Glass Express will fix the first crack for $50 and any additional for $10 each. Unfortunately, they are not mobile, but they are the cheapest in the area! To compare prices, I received quotes from two places at $63 and $65 for each crack. So if you are in the area, this is definitely your best choice! I called around 11am on a Thursday for their earliest availability and quote. They said they had an opening at 4pm that same day, which was great because I was looking to fix it ASAP. Once I got there, I checked in and they walked me out to see the damage to my windshield. The technician was cautious about "fixing" my crack since it was in the black trim area above the driver's side. He let me know the risk and possibilities of it failing but reassured that he should be able to help me out. Overall, it took around 10-15 minutes and I was out before 4:30! I asked if the work was guaranteed and they said since the damage was in an area that may fail, they would use the $50 to the cost of a replacement windshield if it started to crack again. Overall, this place had good customer service and I would definitely recommend them to anyone that is looking to fix a crack in their windshield. read more

I was put on hold for a while before getting service. Price quote was the most expensive of any place in Berkeley that I called, and they did not have availability for almost a week later. Other places were cheaper AND able to get me in same-day, and still have perfect reviews. Getting your car broken into is such an industry out here!! I parked at Jack London Sq in what I thought was a well lit place, but to no avail. I have a BMW i3 EV and anything that needs to be fixed on it is always a wait, cuz there's just not all that many on the road. My replacement rear quarter window had to be shipped in from Texas, and a trim piece was also special order. This is my first review on yelp. The reason I am writing this is really because I want to share some knowledge I gained after I have done a lot of research about auto glass today. I went to this place this morning expecting to replace my car's shattered windshield. People there were nice but became kind of arrogant after my friend and I tried to bargain for a lower price (we are college students, saving money is a must). I called different glass shops around to compare prices, and one shop asked about the type of glass I want to use. I wasn't aware of the different types of glass available. After a lot of research, I realized there are three types: Dealer Auto Glass, OEM Distributor Auto Glass, and Aftermarket Auto Glass. The one that Auto Glass Express offered me is the after market glass and ATI brand. The reviews for the ATI aftermarket auto glass are so bad. Finally, I got a shop named "Paramount Auto Glass" to offer me a good OEM distributor Auto Glass - PGW brand (Pittsburgh Glass Works, formally called PPG). PGW is a reputable auto glass company and manufacturer the exact same windshield to the same specifications as Dealer Auto Glass. The cost is 249.99 (including tax) comparing to Auto Glass Express's aftermarket ATI glass 329.99 total. To be honest, I would love to have my glass installed at Auto Glass Express looking at many good reviews on Yelp. After reading the comparison between aftermarket auto glass and OEM auto glass, I think having a good OEM glass on my beloved car is more important. I was shopping around for someone to repair my side window and came across Auto Glass Express online. I gave them a call and within minutes Mark had all the pertinent info he needed to give me the most reasonable quote for the glass and installation. He and his associate then bought the glass and came over to my office parking lot to start the repairs. All this in the span of a couple of hours! I emailed them yesterday, asking about the price for an OEM windshield on my Prius. Ladan responded with the price for OEM (about $700) and aftermarket (a bit under $300 altogether including labor). Both prices included lifetime warranty if anything should happen to the car. I decided to go with the aftermarket glass and scheduled an appointment for today from 3-4. Mark came over to replace my windshield and I watched him through the whole process. I've done some auto work myself and I've seen a windshield get replaced before, so I was curious about how he would go through the whole process. All in all, he did a very thorough job and I appreciated the fact that he wasn't rushing through things. He was very nice about cleaning out the leaves from under the hood and wiping down my dashboard throughout the whole replacement process, which are nice touches of professionalism and care that I really appreciate. We talked about cars and stuff while he was working and he was very friendly, very nice to talk to. Talked about what kind of cars he liked working on (pretty much most cars), what kind of cars he hates working on (Mini Coopers), how long he's been in this business for (8 years), what to do about chips in the windshield, what he does with the old windshield parts (one of his side projects is figuring out a recycling process for windshields), how many customers they work with daily (around 18-20), where he sources windshields from (they sometimes have to go to salvage shops for hard-to-find bits), etc. Mark definitely knows his stuff, and I would highly recommend the company to anyone who needs a windshield replacement or broken car glass. Earlier this week, someone smashed my window. I live in a kind of sketchy (although wonderful) area, so it wasn't first nor was it the last time my window was broken. The folks at Auto Glass Express did things right. They quoted me a reasonable price, set a clear expectation of when the work would be done, they called to let me know when the work was done, and they put in a window that was in better condition than the one that was broken. I was very impressed with their level of customer service and the quality of their work, especially because they charged me substantially less than what I've been charged for similar work at other shops. I called Mark this morning, and he was able to come out to replace my window just a few hours later. He gave me a great price, explained everything, and even showed me how the jerk who broke my window did it. When I also asked him to take a look at a little chip on my windshield, he not only gave me a quote for the work, but described in easy-to-understand detail what the different options are for fixing it, and whether it's even a necessary fix at this point (turns out that for now, it's not). When my window was broken last night, I felt violated and scared, and it was wonderful having such a trustworthy, quick, affordable, and just all around nice repairman. Happy customer? You bet. The car my daughter drives was vandalized in SF last night while visiting a friend. I called another company we used before to come to our house to replace a broken small back passenger window, but they did not answer or return my call. I found Auto Glass Express on Yelp. Their mobile unit was stretched, but they said I could bring the car into the shop that day and get an extra $10 off. Because my daughter wanted to go back to the City tonight and it's been drizzling rain, I decided to have Auto Glass Express do the job. They took me 30 min early and were done in 40 min (they said it might take 1 hour). The ladies who run the front office (Allison and another young woman) were very efficient and friendly. Dealing with them on the phone and in person was a pleasure. The job seems to be well done. Not only was the window broken, but the trim area is missing and part of a frame is bent. So now I have to take it to my autobody guy to get that missing part replaced. A year or more has passed since Auto Glass Express replaced my cracked windshield. I have a 2014 Mercedes Benz C250 and I had a crack in my windshield the shape of a hockey puck. I called and they were able to help me right away. The female I spoke with was extremely kind and knowledgeable(I'm sorry I forgot your name). I came in on a weekend , they let me check the replacement windshield before they installed it. It took them a few hours to replace and when it was finished, I was very pleased. I did my review on windshields and how there will be a drop In quality if it's not from Mercedes. With all honesty, there was no drop in quality with the windshield they used. I driven it on the freeway(at high speeds) and there is no air coming thru. No water leaks during the rainy season. Most importantly the windshield is clear and there were no waves seen within the windshield. I highly recommend this business. read more

I have been to the San Pablo Ave shop a couple of times to have small dings or divots caused by rocks hitting the windshield filled and sealed. I've always received good service and results. I'd recommend making an appointment, though because they are too busy for drop in service. Finally I got an unrepairable crack in my windshield. Windshield replacement is a 1.5 hour job, so I was excited to find that they had curbside service. My repairman, Mark, arrived on time and well-prepared and the job took about as long as expected. Also, when in called to make the appt, the office person gave me a couple of options, without being pushy, just informative, and I really appreciated that. The pricing was very good - far less than my ins deductible, tho they would have been happy to bill my insurance. They did a terrible job about our car window and didn't clean any glasses inside the door at all.When we open/close the door glass pieces were dropping everywhere.
